Chapter 145 Kicking the Cripple's Broken Leg
The draft phase is fast approaching. As the blue team, TSM has priority in the first round of drafting, but their coach, Part, is still hesitant.
Since they didn't qualify directly for the MSI Mid-Season Invitational group stage and had to fight their way up from the play-in stage, they had focused their efforts on the play-in stage teams and lacked research on the group stage teams.
But after EDG's match against Flash Wolves, Part was truly shocked by Li Chen's performance, so he quickly caught up on information about EDG, especially the heroes Li Chen played in the Spring Split, which was of utmost importance.
His original intention was to see which heroes Li Chen liked to use during the Spring Split, and then pick out the heroes that Li Chen used the most, had the highest win rate, and performed best during the Spring Split to ban.
But when the analyst presented the data to him, he was completely stunned.
How can someone play dozens of games without losing a single one since their debut, and dominate the game with every hero they pick?
How are they supposed to fight?
As time ticked by, the coach remained silent. TSM's top laner, Hauntzer, reminded him, "Coach, time's almost up. We need to get rid of him."
"Take care of Jess first." Parth didn't have time to think it through and sent Jess to his place.
Hauntzer had already placed his mouse on Jayce's avatar, and upon hearing the coach's command, he immediately clicked the mouse, sending this bug-like guy to the blacklist.
It's still unclear what this ban is for. Nofe, following the original plan, unusually abandoned the three-ban bot lane strategy and first banned Titan.
I remember being a little surprised when I saw this Nautilus: "Oh, TSM picked Jayce, which is fine, but EDG chose to pick Nautilus, which is a bit unusual. After all, we all know that EDG actually prefers Nautilus as a support champion."
"Actually, banning Nautilus isn't a big problem. First, it can prevent TSM from using Nautilus in the top lane, and second, it can reduce the defensive pressure on the bottom lane. Otherwise, if the support picks Nautilus and the jungler picks a strong champion, the pressure on your bottom lane will be quite high."
Su Xiaoyan nodded and said, "That's right. Overall, it's still about easing the burden on the bot lane. So, how will TSM react? Who will they ban? Fiora? If TSM bans Fiora, does that mean they're going to ban the top laner a third time?"
In fact, Su Xiaoyan's guess was correct. After careful consideration, TSM decided to ban the top lane, maintaining their top, mid, and jungle offensive rhythm, and targeting Clearlove.
They knew this principle: to kick the cripple's broken leg.
However, if they focus on the top, mid, and jungle, EDG won't be afraid of any team.
Nofe said with a smile, "They're still going to focus on the top, mid, and jungle as expected. Let's go for it. I reckon they'll pick Renekton for top, and C-God won't have any problems. Let's take down Syndra. And for mid, let's pick Lucian."
"OK!"
The factory manager nodded, looking quite relaxed and content. Clearly, playing top, mid, and jungle was his favorite rhythm. He would just let the jungle monsters pass and then act as a mobile ward.
"Blue Steel Shadow".
How many do you want?
The two coaches clashed remotely, one taking down the top laner in three ways, while the other completely shut down the mid laner.
As the first champion selection began, Parth thought for a moment and said, "Let's pick Braum first. Don't let the enemy team get both Braum and Ashe. If possible, we'll pick Ashe later."
Although EDG's bot lane isn't strong, TSM's bot lane isn't much better either. They're about even, so neither should criticize the other.
The combination of Ashe and Braum is very attractive to bot laners who lack offensive drive, so TSM also wanted to pick it.
On EDG's side, Li Chen said, "Let's pick Lucian and Ziggs first, to give the enemy a false alarm. If they guess wrong, the consequences will be severe."
"That makes sense, Bomberman and Lucian." Nofe nodded.
Soon, Lucian and Ziggs' icons appeared one after the other, instantly igniting the LPL live stream.
[666, here we go again. I have absolutely no idea where these two are going, I have no idea.]
Here's something really scary: EDG picked two players, both of whom can flex across all three lanes.
[Can we even display Bomberman now?]
[This guy marks weaklings, even when you're playing a healer, he dares to act all high and mighty.]
Are North American teams automatically relegated to the bottom tier?
Even viewers who watch EDG matches and Li Chen's live streams every day can't guess which lane the two heroes will go to, let alone TSM, but Parth doesn't have any options in mind at all.
The Bomber went mid, and Lucian went bot; it was a perfect match in his mind.
"If we pick Ziggs mid, there won't be much pressure in the mid lane. Let's pick Taliyah instead, so we can coordinate with the top and jungle. We need to create an opening in the top lane and suppress the enemy top laner."
Parth was full of confidence, after all, besides stabilizing the lane, the only thing the Bomber could do to help the top laner and jungler was his ultimate.
Then, TSM picked Ashe as their third pick, paired with Braum for a double Glacial combination. They weren't afraid of EDG's Lucian dominating the bot lane.
Then it was EDG's turn. Nofe said, "Let's pick Karma first, then take down Elise."
With Ziggs and Karma in the bot lane, the minion wave will never reach the tower. TSM won't have a chance to tower dive, so they can let the minions roam freely and even ignore the bottom jungle, focusing all their efforts on attacking the top lane.
TSM didn't think too much about it and simply carried the captain away.
The two sides then took turns eliminating Ivern and Rambo, each focusing on a single target.
Next, it was EDG's turn to pick first. Nofe chose to pick the ineffective jungler Gragas first, reserving a counter pick for Li Chen, hoping to get the most comfortable champion for the laning phase.
Now that things have come to this, TSM has no way back. With Lee Sin and Renekton, two strong early-game champions, appearing one after the other, their final lineup has been confirmed.
Nofe guessed pretty accurately and looked down at Li Chen, asking, "C-God, what are you planning to use this game?"
"Hmm... I'll go with Weapon Master. It's been a long time since I've played it!" Li Chen said after a moment's thought.
"OK!" Meiko instantly locked onto the Weapon Master.
There isn't a single one who can fight!
The two teams then swapped positions. TSM didn't have much to say, but EDG kept changing players, eventually coming up with a lineup that left TSM completely bewildered.
Parth hadn't shaken hands yet. When he saw Lucian stop on the third icon and stop moving, while Bomber went to the fourth floor, he was completely stunned.
Although the game hadn't started yet, he already had a bad feeling.
Lucian vs. Taliyah, whose lane priority?
