Ye Wenxi drove Wang Yingxue from downstairs at her house. There was a small slope on the path leading to Ye Wenxi's house. Wang Yingxue wanted to get off, but Ye Wenxi wouldn't let her.

"Wait for me, I'm about to rush up! Hold on tight!"

"Hehe~hehe~hehe!"

She kicked hard, and Wang Yingxue held her waist. Ye Wenxi shouted "Hey—!" and rushed to the top of the slope.

"We're up!" Ye Wenxi laughed heartily. "Let's speed things up and keep going! Don't let go!"

"Mmm!" Wang Yingxue hugged her tightly.

"call--!"

The bicycle rushed down the hill, faster and faster, with the wind whistling through it.

"Ha ha ha ha!"

"ah--!"

The two women laughed loudly, their clear laughter echoing all the way.

Wang Yingxue's laughter was so loud, so very loud.

A few minutes later, Ye Wenxi rode home. She parked her bike at the door and pulled Wang Yingxue inside.

As we passed the small courtyard, she pointed and said, "Look, that courtyard in the back is our house. Let's chat there in a bit, and I'll show you the flowers I planted."

Wang Yingxue followed Ye Wenxi into the house, and the sight before her made her eyes widen in surprise.

She couldn't describe the feeling. The furniture and everything else were similar to other people's homes, but the moment she stepped into the room, it felt like she had passed through a time portal and entered another world.

I can't quite put my finger on what's wrong, but everything feels different.

Paintings hung on the walls, a floor lamp stood in the corner, and vases of varying heights and sizes were placed everywhere on the table and sideboard, some with fresh flowers and some with dried flowers.

Even on the dresser in the bedroom, there's a small bunch of unnamed wildflowers, making the space vibrant and gentle.

The fresh flowers were just picked and appeared to have been planted by Ye Wenxi. The dried flowers were collected in the autumn and had faded to a light brown color, giving them a unique charm.

Wang Yingxue realized that Ye Wenxi had made many of the things himself.

But when all these things are put together, they make you feel comfortable.

She had never been to such a comfortable and beautiful home.

"I made all of these myself. That lamp too." Ye Wenxi pointed to the floor lamp. "I keep it on at night and basically don't use the main lights. It creates a really nice atmosphere."

She pointed to the small flowers on the table: "Look, I picked these two pots too. Some I planted myself, and some I picked on my way back from the cafeteria." She chuckled, like a child who had gotten a good deal.

The flowers in these vases are arranged in a pleasing and orderly fashion, and the colors are matched so well that they are easy on the eyes.

"Wait a minute, I'll go get you something to drink." Ye Wenxi turned and walked towards the kitchen.

"I'll help you." Wang Yingxue followed.

Upon entering the kitchen, the first thing she saw was the refrigerator. Its light green paint and gleaming door handles made it a large item in the family compound in 79.

She knew Ye Wenxi could afford it, but she was still taken aback. This thing was too expensive; only a few families in the entire residential compound had one.

Several wooden planks were nailed to the kitchen wall, seemingly made by Ye Wenxi herself, with spice bottles neatly arranged on them. They weren't the usual canning jars or wine bottles, but rather regular glass bottles, row upon row, looking very tidy.

Next to the refrigerator was a small clip with wheels, covered by a floral cloth curtain, inside which were dried mushrooms, vermicelli, and wood ear fungus.

"Hehe, I made this too. I just put some dried goods in it and added wheels to make it easier to move," Ye Wenxi explained to Wang Yingxue.

Looking at all this, a word popped into Wang Yingxue's mind: comfortable, the comfort of every corner being taken care of.

She suddenly realized how wonderful it would be if her home could be like that.

Ye Wenxi took two bottles of soda from the refrigerator and put two ice cubes into a glass. The moment the soda was poured in, a layer of fine foam rose up on the ice cubes.

She held up her cup and waved it at Wang Yingxue: "Let's go to the courtyard."

The two sat in the courtyard, the scent of floral water mingling with the breeze, keeping mosquitoes away.

Wang Yingxue took a sip of the ice-cold soda and let out a long sigh: "It's so refreshing and delicious."

Drinking iced beverages on such a hot day was a first for her.

"Wenxi, I really can't believe you can manage the house so well, even though you're so busy." Wang Yingxue put down her cup and said with a smile.

"Oh, that's a stereotype, isn't it?" Ye Wenxi leaned back in her chair and swirled her cup.

"Huh? What impression?" Wang Yingxue was confused.

"I work hard because I want to succeed, and I decorate my home like this because I love life. These are both things I enjoy."

She turned to look at Wang Yingxue.

"Little Xue'er, what about you? What kind of life do you want to live?"

"Huh?" Wang Yingxue was taken aback by the question.

I had never thought of it before, nor dared to think of it.

Suffering, like a thick layer of ash, clouded her heart.

Wang Yingxue dared not hope for a better life, afraid that once she started thinking about it, she would lose control, afraid that if she lost control, she would be disappointed, and afraid that if she was disappointed, she would be even more upset.

So she simply stopped thinking about it and suppressed all her thoughts. "This is good enough," she always told herself, and dared not touch anything else.

"I haven't thought about it much." She chuckled, a little embarrassed.

"Don't think too far ahead," Ye Wenxi said. "Just focus on this year. What kind of life do you want to live this year? What kind of life do you hope your days will become? Think hard about it; thinking doesn't cost money."

Wang Yingxue lowered her head, twisting her fingers with one hand and constantly picking at the edge of her nails. Her tone was slow, as if she were reaching up from a very deep place.

"I hope... my mom recovers soon. I hope... I can buy her a wheelchair."

She paused there, opened her mouth, then closed it again.

All I could think about was "I hope my mother recovers soon," and nothing else came to mind.

"Don't you want to make a name for yourself at the clothing company?" Ye Wenxi asked with a smile.

"Yes! Of course I want to!" Wang Yingxue nodded vigorously.

"Don't you want to earn more money?" Ye Wenxi asked bluntly. "Don't you want a better material life? Don't you want to buy a refrigerator? Don't you want to drink ice-cold beverages in the summer?"

Wang Yingxue raised her head, pursed her lips, licked her dry lips, and nodded.

"Xiaoxue, don't stop. What are you thinking about?" Ye Wenxi continued to ask.

Wang Yingxue seemed to have mustered up her courage and squeezed out, "I want to... wear pretty clothes."

"Anything else! Keep thinking!" Ye Wenxi stared at her and pressed her for an answer.

Wang Yingxue's voice choked slightly, and her eyes reddened even more: "I want to buy more meat when I go to the convenience store..."

"I want to buy face cream..."

"I also want to use Bee & Flower shampoo..."

At this point, Wang Yingxue's tears finally fell, one by one, rolling down from the corners of her eyes.

She choked back tears as she continued speaking, her words flowing like water bursting from a dam:

"I want...I want to live a good life!"

"I want to learn so many things! I want to be like you and do something amazing!"

"I want...I want the happiness I've always dreamed of!"

Ye Wenxi took her hand and pulled her into his arms, and her eyes reddened.

"Xiaoxue, that's it! Talk more, think more. Tell yourself this every day, say it once a day." She patted Wang Yingxue's shoulder.

"Definitely! You absolutely must put 'me' first. Okay?"

Wang Yingxue hugged her and nodded vigorously.

Tears kept dripping onto Ye Wenxi's shoulder, soaking the area.

She once thought that God was unfair, that all the suffering was beingfalling her alone.

But today she suddenly felt that God was also helping her, allowing her to meet Ye Wenxi, allowing her to rediscover herself, and finally allowing her to dare to pursue her own happiness.

Ye Wenxi released her and wiped the tears from her face with the back of her hand: "Everything will be alright, everything will be alright."

"Thank you, Wenxi...you always help me like this." Wang Yingxue sniffled, and both girls had tears in their eyes.

Ye Wenxi shook her head: "I do help people. But I only help those who help themselves. You have qualities that can't be hidden."

"Xiaoxue, thank yourself. Even if you hadn't met me, you would have met other people who were willing to help you."

She looked into Wang Yingxue's eyes.

Life is long. Believe in yourself, believe in the future. You will definitely meet someone you love again.
