Reborn in the 1980s: Nine Stunning Beauties Get Pregnant Before Marriage
Chapter 189 Arrogant and haughty
Chen Yongqiang first found a quiet alley, took out the processed wild boar meat from his spatial storage, and put it into two large bamboo baskets on the back of his bicycle.
"Let's get 300 jin first to test the market in the county."
He then took out a bag of about 100 kilograms of rouge rice from his spatial storage and placed it on the front bar of his bicycle, both as a counterweight and to explore the market for this type of refined rice.
Riding his bicycle, laden with goods, back onto the main road, Chen Yongqiang pondered, "Not many people in the town are willing to buy Rouge Rice, but surely there are discerning and wealthy customers in this county seat?"
State-run restaurants were naturally Chen Yongqiang's primary target.
These units have large purchasing volumes and relatively abundant funds, making them ideal destinations for bulk shipments.
Chen Yongqiang arrived at the Hongqi Restaurant, the largest state-run restaurant in the county.
This restaurant is a two-story red brick building, much more impressive than the restaurants in town.
However, a line of white slogans with red lettering painted on the wall at the entrance made Chen Yongqiang shake his head.
"It is forbidden to arbitrarily beat or verbally abuse customers."
"The service at state-run restaurants is indeed as good as its reputation suggests," he muttered to himself.
It was lunchtime, and the room was already quite full. Most of the people eating here were government officials on business trips or urban workers with some spare money; at the very least, they were middle-class families with ample funds.
After entering, Chen Yongqiang looked around and found a table with empty seats against the wall to sit down.
A middle-aged man wearing glasses and a gray Zhongshan suit was already sitting opposite me, with a plate of dumplings and a small dish of vinegar in front of him.
Seeing Chen Yongqiang, dressed in a cotton-padded jacket and looking rustic, sit down, the middle-aged man glanced at him sideways, snorted softly through his nose, and muttered under his breath, "country bumpkin."
Chen Yongqiang didn't give him a friendly look either, retorting, "This is what you eat for lunch, you bespectacled comrade? That's pretty shabby."
"What did you say?!" The bespectacled man stood up angrily.
Chen Yongqiang looked him up and down with an even more disdainful gaze: "What's the rush? If you can't afford something good, just say so, I'll treat you."
"You...!" The bespectacled man's face turned bright red, and his hand trembled as he pointed at Chen Yongqiang, attracting the attention of several other customers around the table.
A waitress in a white top strode over, her voice booming, "What's all the noise about? Go outside and have a fight! Don't disturb other people's meals!"
Chen Yongqiang leaned back in his chair with an air of nonchalance: "Comrade, I'm a civilized person, here to have a proper meal. But this colleague of mine, I don't know why he's shouting like a mad dog. His manners need improvement."
The bespectacled man was speechless at Chen Yongqiang's words, and seeing the waiter's stern face, he didn't dare to actually make a move.
Causing trouble here and getting kicked out is a minor matter; the real problem is that he might never be able to eat here again. He glared at Chen Yongqiang and sat back down in his original seat.
When the commotion stopped, the waiter turned to leave.
"Comrade, I'd like to order!" Chen Yongqiang called out to her.
The waitress turned around, looking impatient: "Can't you see how many people are eating? Wait!"
Chen Yongqiang had no choice but to wait.
The bespectacled man across from him had finished his dumplings but wasn't in a hurry to leave: "Hmph, I'd like to see what kind of tricks you, a country bumpkin, can come up with."
With a smile on his face, Chen Yongqiang said unhurriedly, "Alright, I'll show you something today."
But this wait lasted for almost half an hour.
The waitress was busy running around, but she just wouldn't come over.
When Chen Yongqiang saw her walk by again, he raised his voice: "Comrade, let's order!"
The waitress then reluctantly approached with the order form: "What would you like to eat? Tell me quickly."
Chen Yongqiang named a few dishes: "First, braised wild boar, the hind leg, cooked until tender and mushy. Pheasant stew with mushrooms, hazel mushrooms."
"And another spicy wild rabbit, extra chili. And for the main course, half a pound of your most expensive refined grain rice."
"Are you here to cause trouble?!" the waitress exclaimed upon hearing the names of the dishes Chen Yongqiang had announced.
His voice immediately rose: "Wild boar meat? Pheasant? And refined grain rice? What do you think this place is? If you're not going to eat, get out!"
"These are common things in our mountains. Don't you have any in your state-run hotel?" Chen Yongqiang asked with a matter-of-fact expression.
The waitress rolled her eyes at Chen Yongqiang, too lazy to say anything more, and turned to leave.
Seeing this, the bespectacled man finally couldn't hold back and burst out laughing: "What a bumpkin! Even if these dishes really existed, could you afford them?"
"Those things you just ordered, they'd easily cost at least five yuan! Do you even have that kind of money?"
Chen Yongqiang came today mainly to explore the possibility of selling wild boar meat and rouge rice to restaurants, and also to have lunch.
But given the current situation, the waiters here are all arrogant and conceited, it seems that the path of this state-run restaurant is not easy to follow.
"You're saying I can't afford it?" Chen Yongqiang casually pulled a wad of bills from his pocket and slammed it on the table.
They were all ten-yuan notes, at least ten or so.
The bespectacled man was speechless. He worked in the county and earned only fifty or sixty yuan a month. The photo Chen Yongqiang casually took was almost two months' salary for him.
After collecting the money from the table, Chen Yongqiang got up and left. He knew that if he waited any longer, the waiter wouldn't come to serve him.
As Chen Yongqiang pushed his bicycle out of the state-run restaurant, he glanced back at the red brick building.
"I refuse to believe that such a big county town can't find a place to eat."
Chen Yongqiang pushed his cart around the street and sure enough, he saw a newly opened private restaurant at the entrance of an alley.
A sign that read "For the People's Snacks" hung at the entrance. Inside, about half of the three or four tables were occupied.
He parked his car and went inside. A middle-aged man wearing an apron and with a kind face greeted him: "Comrade, what would you like to eat?"
"Give me a bowl of shredded pork noodles, a large bowl." Chen Yongqiang sat down and chatted with the owner while waiting for his noodles.
"Boss, how's business?"
"It's alright, we just opened, we're counting on the neighbors to patronize us," the owner replied while cooking.
The noodles were served, with generous portions of shredded meat and a delicious broth. After finishing his meal, Chen Yongqiang got straight to the point: "Boss, I have some wild boar meat and top-quality red rice. Do you buy them?"
"Wild boar meat? Someone came to sell it before the Lunar New Year, but it wasn't very popular." The shopkeeper was telling the truth, because the temperature was high then, and the meat didn't keep for long.
"The food is really good... but my shop is small and my budget is limited, so I don't use much meat each day. I can only take a maximum of twenty catties of this wild boar meat, and I'm afraid I can't offer a very high price."
Chen Yongqiang nodded; this was within his expectations.
I paid the bill at 8 cents per pound and gave the owner the amount of meat he wanted.
Before leaving, the boss kindly advised, "Comrade, your batch of goods is good and the quantity is large. Why don't you try your luck in the government compound? Those unit canteens, or the homes of the cadres living there, might be able to get you some."
Chen Yongqiang thanked him, feeling a sense of direction; the government compound was indeed a viable option.
