Chapter 50 High-Level Players
Chapter 50 High-Level Players
Halfway through the party, Sarah and Blitz returned.
Jason, who had been waiting for a long time, immediately went up and grabbed the beer. "God, you two are finally back! Everyone who wanted a drink was dying of thirst!"
He patted him on the shoulder and asked, "You two haven't been up to anything bad, have you?"
Blitz laughed and said, "You're overthinking it. It's just that we need to clean the food truck and change the cooking oil, so we're a little late. Tomorrow, the Environmental Protection Bureau will be doing spot checks on the streets, and if the food truck's hygiene doesn't meet the standards, we'll be fined."
"That kind of problem is indeed very serious. If you can't handle law enforcement, it will be very difficult to continue doing business. The best way is to go along with them."
Jason's mouth seems to have no restraint; he always acts like he's having a blast at parties.
"I used to do something similar when I was in school, selling pornographic DVDs to other students and making a fortune! Until the head of student affairs called me over, I was so scared I almost peed my pants. I thought it would be so serious that I would be expelled."
"You thought she was going to lecture me? No, later she took me to a small dark room and told me that she also wanted to buy pornographic DVDs through my channels..."
Sarah rolled her eyes at him. "Jason, you're drunk before you've even had a drink? When are you going to become any more likable? Selling addictive drugs isn't a good business, and you'd better not make it a long-term venture. My first husband went to jail for doing something like that."
Experienced women have different perspectives. Although Sarah didn't have much ability, neither of her first two husbands were the kind of people who would settle down and live a stable life.
They either end up in jail or die, and are also fined a lot of money, resulting in losing both their lives and their money.
Her third boyfriend wanted to find an ordinary person to live a normal life, but instead he encountered a scumbag who liked to drink and abuse his family.
Fortunately, she has now met a better candidate.
"Don't I have anyone who likes me? Which of my friends here doesn't like me?" Jason immediately started to argue. After sitting down, he handed out drinks to the group. "Who here dares to say they didn't do drugs in high school? Dare to raise your hand and let me see? The reason you don't do drugs now is simply because you have stronger self-control than the average person and haven't become addicted."
"I don't."
Dominic immediately raised his hand to vote, "I was strictly controlled at home before, so I basically had no chance to try it, and I wasn't very interested."
"Drug use? Does amoxicillin-clavulanate potassium count?" Zhang Ailun laughed.
"Anti-inflammatory drugs are still medicine! But you two are truly rare examples of pure and innocent people."
Jason shrugged helplessly, admitting defeat. After all, how many homeless people don't use drugs?
Even if you're not interested in leaves and cocoa, you can't live without painkillers, right?
Unfortunately, neither of them actually had this habit.
Jason then looked at the unfamiliar face and, knowing the man was a veteran, eagerly inquired, "Sig, there must be many people in the army and military academies who like to do drugs, right?"
"Of course, it's not just people who like to take drugs; many others can't control their lustful desires. There are many gay men too, and things that cause physical discomfort happen frequently. There's nothing they won't do, only things you can't imagine."
Sieg readily admitted, "I also had a bad habit for a while, but then my health deteriorated and I failed my exams. After I realized this, I decisively quit it. It was a truly unforgettable experience."
"Hahaha! I knew the American army was rotten to the core!!" Jason, a redneck from Texas, was not angry but delighted, laughing heartily. He took off his shirt, jumped and waved it, and sang the Song of Freedom.
After all, he is the son of the Lone Star Republic.
Having this kind of mentality is understandable. He's definitely a long-time Texas resident.
Everyone raised their bottles, clinked glasses, and took a swig from the bottle around the campfire.
A short while later, David and Gates returned as well.
After greeting everyone and getting to know each other through introductions, the two of them immediately started talking about the interesting things that had happened on the street. They talked most about Wapson Street and the Carnation Club, and also about seeing a lot of armed MC motorcycle gangs.
Although a large part of it sounds like nonsense and bragging, it's still quite interesting.
Zhang Ailun has never really had any serious dealings with gang members.
MC is the real boss of that neighborhood. They just do can recycling work during the day and don't get themselves into any trouble.
You only earn a little money collecting cans. The money that gangsters make in a day is enough for you to collect cans for a year.
They're all in the same boat, but there's a fundamental difference between a homeless person and a gangster. As street fighters, you don't need to take down the gangsters; you just need to take down the homeless.
The wilderness area over there is already considered their own green safe zone. There are hardly any homeless people during the day, and the other side can't compete with the Lori Louis 19. Even begging to clean windows is done in the outskirts.
If you collect cans during the day, the police officers who issue tickets won't hold it against you; you can treat it as your own territory. If you collect cans on that street at night and say, "This area is under my control, and I'm going to do business here," then you'll see if those gangsters can handle the submachine guns they're carrying.
David, the young Black man, pulled out $50 and handed it to Leo, reporting the good news: "Do you know how far we went to sell that half-box of gummies at a high price? We went all the way to Sixth Street and found a bro who had recently joined a local gang. He was so desperate to save face at the party that he gave us the money in a hurry, without even asking for change!"
It's certainly embarrassing for Lao Hei to attend a gang gathering without being able to pull out any leaves.
If you don't smoke leaf tea, you basically can't get into the circle.
Birds of a feather flock together. We're all smokers, and everyone has times when we have to tighten our belts. A split-the-bill party is supposed to be about you chipping in, me chipping in, you bringing a girl, me bringing a girl. But when it's your turn, and you've been mooching cigarettes the whole time, and the girl asks for a condom and you can't even afford one, who can stand that?
They instantly lost their right to choose a spouse.
"The high-quality gummies we sell are definitely something he's never tasted in his life. After all, judging from his appearance, he's the kind of poor, downtrodden guy who's trying to make it big through gangs. He can't afford good leaves at all. Maybe he got a good deal and will come back to us next time," Gate said with a grin.
Jason, upon hearing that it was a good business opportunity, said with some regret, "It's a pity our goods were ruined."
Leo also gave $20 of his earnings as a bonus to Zhang Ailun.
Zhang Ailun didn't stand on ceremony and accepted it without hesitation.
He then pulled out two more $5 bills and handed one to each of David and Gates as a getaway fee.
It was a small amount, but that was all he got.
"Thank you, Boss!!" David and Gates didn't mind the small amount and happily put away the banknotes.
Zhang Ailun didn't say anything, focusing intently on eating! He could hear them chatting and laughing, and realized that the eel rice tasted pretty good.
Rice cooks are people, rice cooks are souls.
Those who only eat rice are superior to others!
The party went on until the early hours of the morning.
After finishing their beer, cigarette butts and empty boxes littered the floor. The firewood in the paint bucket was almost gone, and only then did the group, their spirits dampened, disperse and leave.
Jason and Fitz left at halftime. That's how those two always are; when they're drunk and in high spirits, they'll start kissing and cuddling in front of everyone.
While you're eating, you might not be paying attention and suddenly the person is gone.
But neither of them would ever admit to being in a romantic relationship. They were simply business partners.
Leo and Monica certainly wouldn't be staying at the camp. After inquiring, Zhang Ailun learned that the old man had become a kept man, living in an abandoned construction building where Monica had built a long-term shelter.
There were also some homeless people gathered over there, but their living conditions were much worse than those at the bridge cave camp. They were mostly elderly, weak, sick, and disabled people who could only rely on begging to survive and help each other.
With their initiative and earning power, Leo and Monica are already considered high-level players in that camp!
