Chapter 69 is suspended (Part 1)

Lynn watched as the minor fireball spell exploded like fireworks not far in front of him.

The shield shook violently, rippling outwards, more intense than any of the previous tremors. It seems that even among zero-level spells, the Lesser Fireball is among the most lethal.

Not far away on the ground, the red-haired youth had just had his neck snapped by the mage's hand.

Lynn, the attacker, was not going to be foolish enough to use a lesser fireball spell, which was so bright and conspicuous, since he wasn't just planning to ambush one person.

Although he has mastered more than a dozen spells, most of them are functional or non-lethal spells.

For example, spells like "Light," "Repair," "Touch of Fatigue," "Switch," "Communication," and "Light of Darkness" are all mastered. Even the two first-level spells he has mastered, "Fear" and "Earth Ring," are mainly for binding and control, with almost zero direct lethality.

The only spells capable of killing in one hit are Acid Missiles, Lesser Fireball, and, under special circumstances, Hand of the Mage.

However, the acid missiles wouldn't kill instantly, and their intense corrosive damage would surely cause that kid to let out a scream powerful enough to wake others before he died.

So Lynn used the Mage's Hand, covering his head with his enormous hand, like unscrewing a bottle cap.

Where did this minor fireball that hit me come from?

Lynn looked in the direction of the Lesser Fireball spell.

I spotted a familiar face at the end of the alley in the distance—Anushekh.

Anushek let out a long breath, his eyes fixed on the shield spell surrounding Lynn with a complex expression.

Defensive magical artifacts that can automatically activate defense and provide shields are very valuable, especially for wizards at the apprentice level.

Even he doesn't have a treasure of that value.

This type of defensive magical item can protect you in many critical moments.

"You guessed I'd come back?" Lynn said.

"I can't be completely sure, but your decisive style of doing things has given me some preparation," Anushek said, leaning to the side and holding his staff.

Lynn reflected and admitted that he had really underestimated these nobles.

They may lack combat experience, but having received the kingdom's best education since childhood, their thinking may be a bit rigid at times. However, they are essentially the elite group in the kingdom who have received the best education in the current era.

"I warned them to be careful, you might come back tonight. Some of them verbally agreed that they would keep an eye out, but it seems that idiot Perlus ignored my warning," Anushek said.

"Actually, I initially wanted to be friends with you," Anusheh said. "Unfortunately, things often don't go as planned."

Several wizard apprentices followed Anusheh out.

The door to the next room suddenly opened.

The wizard Harlin and a handsome blond wizard behind him walked out of the house.

"Don't stay up too late. Everyone needs to rest now. If you disturb some grumpy wizard on this street, you'll have to bear the consequences yourselves," Diasterdan said, following behind Harlin.

"Let's leave it at that," Harlin said, glancing at Diasterdan behind him.

Anushikh remained silent, though in reality, another noble wizard apprentice had died on their side, but now the two wizards came out and said that the matter should end there.

"You're no match for him. This kid's mental strength has already reached the threshold of a third-level apprentice. Quite a talent indeed," Diasterdan chuckled.

A level three wizard apprentice!?

Anusheh felt a pang of bitterness in his heart. He was only a second-level wizard apprentice, still a short distance from a third-level wizard apprentice. He had received wizard training since he was a child.

As a child, I used the juice of mugwort and hemp leaves to wash my body to promote the growth of spiritual power, and I consumed the best dietary combinations daily.

They underwent various forms of willpower training during their upbringing, while also receiving education from teachers in royal academies.

Even so, he was still one step away from becoming a third-level wizard apprentice. The rumors and stories he had heard since childhood made him long to board this ship. According to the wizard apprentice who taught him, if the Kingdom of Erdoru was a barren countryside, then the Wizarding Continent was a magnificent and fantastical Demon King's castle, full of danger and opportunity.

Only on the Wizarding Continent could he receive a better and more professional education.

So he had been preparing for this moment since he was a child, but after nearly ten years of hard work, he was told that the mental strength of a commoner wizard was actually higher than that of a noble wizard who had received professional education since childhood.

"Yes, sir, let's leave it at that," Anushekh said in a low voice.

Lynn's mind raced. If he wanted to run, it would be difficult for Anusheh to stop him, but now the wizard Harlin had appeared.

Furthermore, Harlem stated that this matter should end here. Does he mean tonight, or is it the end of this transaction?

"Come with me." Seemingly noticing Lynn's confusion, the wizard Harlin turned and walked away into the distance.

Lynn hesitated for a moment, then followed behind the wizard Harlin.

A flash of light appeared in the Harlem Wizard Ring, and the next moment a fully metal building appeared on the open ground.

The building is square, with only one door facing its own side.

Harlin went inside, and Lynn followed him in.

The interior is very spacious. As far as the eye can see, there are rows of bookshelves filled with books. The corridor between the bookshelves stretches to the far end of the world.

Lynn's eyes widened when she saw so many books.

"Many of these aren't magic books; they were gifts from humans after I helped a plane defeat a demon. They contain a lot of information about local customs and geography, but they're good for filling up bookshelves," Harlin said.

"." Lynn thought of the secret that the demon leader named Shath had told him, and suddenly felt that Harlin's talk of repelling demons didn't seem so serious.

"Our deal is over," Harlin said.

"Huh?" Although Lynn had some guesses, she was still a little confused when she actually heard Harlin say those words.

"Trade should be fair," Harlin said.

"I guide you onto the path of a wizard, and you kill some people for me; that's our bargaining chip."

"But Diasterdan also made a deal with me just now, with that blond wizard you saw. One of the bargaining chips he used in that deal was to save Antina's life," Harlin said calmly. "So the two deals conflicted."

Lynn was silent for a moment, then said, "I can spare her life on my own."

"No, a deal is a deal, and there's no such thing as changing it halfway through." Harlin looked at Lynn. "You have to remember this: the moment the chips in a deal are placed on the scales, any movement of those chips will cause the scales to tip."

Harlin spread his hands.

"So our deal is over. Of course, it's just between us. Any other decisions you make are none of my business."

Lynn was silent for a moment, then nodded. "I understand."

"However, I still have a friendly piece of advice for you. Among the people you killed, some of their elders became formal wizards. Although there are countless generations between them and their blood ties are thinner than clear soup, they are still their descendants. You did this so ostentatiously in public. It's hard to guarantee that some face-conscious guy won't cause you trouble, or that more wizard apprentices will try to curry favor with them in order to deal with you."

"So I suggest you come to the Abyss Wizarding Academy. The atmosphere here is different from most other wizarding academies. You'll understand once you experience it," Harlin said.

"But that was a great opportunity," Lynn said.

"I know, if I were you, I might have made the same choice as you." Harlin looked at Lynn with admiration.

If before it was just because of talent, now it's because of Lynn's character that I admire her.

Given his personality, he would probably thrive in the Abyss Wizarding Academy in no time; he's a born bad apple.

The Abyss Wizard Academy needs this kind of talent.
