Chapter 49 Necromancer
Chapter 49 The Necromancer (Part 1)
Rogue instinctively wanted to chant a spell to unleash a magic attack, but his mouth speed couldn't keep up with the speed of the fireball.
He only managed to utter one syllable before the secondary fireball slammed into his face.
boom! ! !
Half of the Stitches' arm was blown off, and the splattered flames landed on Rogue, igniting his black robe.
The Stitched Monster, which was not far in front of Rogue, instinctively used its arm to block the spell for its master when it saw the fireball flying out.
"Ouch, that hurts!" All the mouths on the stitched monster screamed in unison. "Don't be afraid, protect me, protect me, I'll protect you."
The Frankenstein monster turned to Rogue and spoke again, all its mouths making heavy, overlapping sounds.
Rogge stopped his spellcasting, preparing to give the guy who had ambushed him a good beating!
Lynn was surprised that the Stitched Monster would actually take the initiative to shield the wizard from the spell. Everyone said that the Stitched Monster had a low IQ, but it was surprising that there was one so loyal.
After chanting an incantation for a while, Rogge released a ball of black light in front of him. The black light then spread outward, transforming into a black semi-circular shield that firmly protected him in the center.
This black shield absorbed all the light, making it impossible to see what was inside.
Lynn only knew that his illusion had been shattered.
What kind of spell is this? A defensive spell?
"Were you sent by those nobles to kill me and silence me?" Rogge's hoarse voice came from inside the black dome. "What? You bought plague powder from me when you needed me, and now that the plague has spread out of control, you want to kill me to silence me?"
Roger let out a chilling, gurgling laugh.
Lynn never expected that he would hear a shocking secret—a shocking secret for the Kingdom of Erdoru: the great plague that swept across the north was actually the work of the person in front of him.
Lynn did not answer. Although he had come to silence him, it was not for the plague. Spreading the plague would only make Lynn feel less guilty about killing him.
Seeing that the other party did not answer, Roger thought he had seen through everything.
"I knew this day would come," a hoarse voice came from inside the black dome.
Lynn frowned, and continued to chant the incantation in a low voice.
A fireball gradually condensed and took shape in front of him, the scorching hot spherical flames burning fiercely.
"You're breaking the rules!" came Roger's furious voice from inside the dome.
Then Roger fell silent, seemingly worried that Lynn would be able to pinpoint his location by his voice.
A strange light flashed in Lynn's eyes. He couldn't see inside from the outside, so he assumed that the same was true for those inside. But it seemed that he was wrong.
Since you can observe the outside from inside, you can roughly guess the effect of this spell.
The other party should also be a wizard apprentice, and most of the spells they know are zero-level spells.
Zero-level spells are generally single-effect spells, and complex spells, due to their difficulty, usually do not fall into the category of zero-level spells.
The effect of this spell should be to create a black barrier that unilaterally conceals one's whereabouts.
It's actually a pretty useful spell. As Lynn pondered these thoughts, he uttered the last syllable.
This time, without the worry of a sneak attack, Lynn unleashed his mental power without restraint. However, he then discovered that after his mental power entered the black dome, he sensed two clear targets, one large and one small.
Aiming at the small target, the Lesser Fireball spell swept past swiftly, like a streak of orange-red meteor!
Narogh hid behind the Stitches, and the Stitches once again took the hit for him.
At the same time, Rogge finished reciting the incantation.
Lynn saw a gray ray fly towards him from the black dome, but it was blocked by a transparent barrier a few feet away from his body and disappeared without a trace.
Lynn continued chanting the fireball spell, unconcerned about using old spells, as long as it worked.
He refused to believe that the Frankenstein monster could withstand several of his fireballs.
This is a spell—a Lesser Fireball, not some lighter.
Frankenstein's monster is just a bunch of bloated, large monsters stitched together from human or animal corpses.
Putrid corpse oil and spoiled fat are both excellent flammable materials.
Lynn could already smell the strange, acrid odor of burning fat.
Another fireball flew out.
The third time the Frankenstein monster has been hit.
"Ouch, it hurts, it hurts so much!" came the scream of the stitched monster.
A gray ray flew towards Lynn from inside the black dome, but was once again completely blocked by the transparent barrier.
The two were like two weaklings with high attack but low defense, pecking at each other. One would cast a spell, and the other would cast a spell. However, one of the weaklings was wearing equipment that was not up to his level.
Seeing that his spells were ineffective and the Stitches was still being attacked and about to perish, Rogue's furious voice rang out.
"Damn it, stop! Stop it right now, and I'll give you anything you want."
Lynn seemed not to listen and continued chanting the incantation.
A new fireball appeared before my eyes.
A figure emerged from the black dome.
It's Rogge.
Behind Rogue, his body was engulfed in flames, a huge hole had been blasted in his stomach, and his body was riddled with small, burning holes. Burning, flaming fat dripped down the Stitched Monster's body and onto the ground.
The Frankenstein monster used its last remaining hand to grab Rogue's shoulder, "Protect, protect you."
The flames in the eye sockets of the skull running ahead flickered, indicating its turbulent state. It roared furiously at the stitched monster behind it, "Who the hell needs your protection? You're just a puppet I created, a stitched monster! You're not him at all; you're just my meat shield!"
The Stitched Monster stopped, its blood-stained face showing some confusion. Its voice suddenly became softer, "Protecting...protecting Mommy is just to protect you."
"You are not her! My mother died a long time ago, you are just a substitute I made from her corpse!" Roger roared weakly.
He thought he could comfortably use it as a substitute to soothe the pain of losing his loved ones.
It can be used without any psychological burden, allowing it to charge into battle for you, or even act as a meat shield.
But faced with those clumsy yet persistent calls from that similar face, he realized he truly couldn't do it.
Isn't it said that after transforming into a necromancer, one will possess a cold and ruthless heart, and will no longer be affected by external things?
"Even the substitute wants to protect you." The Stitched Monster standing behind rubbed its little hands in confusion, and after a long while, it said in a low voice.
Roger turned to Lynn and said, "I entrust my life to you, but I have one request: spare its life. It's weak and has little potential; it poses no threat to you."
After a pause, Rogge continued, "In return, I can give you all the inheritance I've acquired. Only I can give you that inheritance. If I die, you can only obtain two experimental subjects at most."
Roger stared intently at Lynn, his eyes burning with intense rage.
Lynn pondered for a moment, "Okay, but I have one condition: I need to see the legacy first."
Roger nodded silently, then raised his right hand and stretched it towards his eye socket.
Then seize the fire of your own soul and forcibly pull it out.
In an instant, Rogge's aura weakened to its last trace.
The flames in his eyes shrank to the size of pinheads and almost went out.
The skeleton of Roger wobbled and made a grinding sound.
Then, under Rogge's control, the ball of soul fire in its palm gradually turned into a gray bead.
"Here you go, I hope you'll keep your promise." Roger tossed the bead to Lynn.
The next moment, Rogge's skeleton collapsed with a bang.
The Stitches monster looked around blankly at the scattered bone fragments. It plopped down on the ground and frantically rubbed the broken bones into its stomach, trying to merge them back into itself.
But it failed. Her stomach was empty, with only a huge hole, and some of the bones that had been inserted fell out from the other side.
"It hurts, it hurts so much." The simple-looking woman's face, stitched up with several lines, on the shoulder of the Stitched Monster opened its mouth and made a hollow sound.
Lynn looked at the stitched-together monster, his spells ready, waiting for it to show hostility towards him.
The Stitches finally picked up Rogue's skull, cheek to cheek, just like when they first met twenty-eight years ago, cheek to cheek, and said, "Mommy is useless, Mommy is with you."
Like a machine that had lost power, the necromantic energy within the Frankenstein's body dissipated rapidly.
