Chapter 42 Spells
Chapter 42 Spells (Part Two)
The Sleeping Curse actually has forty-seven nodes.
It seems this skill has a fairly strong effect.
Lynn used a Lesser Fireball spell to memorize all twenty-seven nodes on it.
Then I sat on the bed and began to meditate on building nodes. With the experience from the first time, I built nodes much faster this time.
Furthermore, Lynn discovered that the speed at which this node was constructed was related to the strength of his mental power.
The stronger one's mental power, the faster the nodes can be constructed.
As evening approached, the sound of them returning could be heard downstairs.
Lynn opened his eyes; four nodes had been constructed in the past afternoon.
At this rate, if we work overtime at night, it will probably only take three or four days to complete the spell framework for Lesser Fireball.
I went downstairs to have dinner with my family. Listening to their laughter and chatter at the table, I learned that they had their eye on a shop and also inquired about the market in Bangor Port.
They felt that opening a tailor shop was still a viable business, as many local tailor shops catered to the wealthy and powerful, making it difficult for ordinary people to buy suitable clothes.
So they decided to open a low-priced tailor shop targeting ordinary people.
Lynn felt that her parents' ideas were quite forward-thinking and definitely had a market; the poor in Bangor were different from the poor in other places.
Even the poorest residents of this developing port city earn more than people in other inland cities of the Kingdom of Bedouin.
However, because prices here are higher than in inland cities, many poor people live in poverty.
If there were a relatively cheaper tailor shop, it would definitely be popular among the poor.
Once you establish a loyal customer base, even with low profit margins and high sales volume, it won't be difficult to support at least one business.
After dinner, Lynn went to Lauren's house next door under the pretext of going for a walk.
He went inside and told Lauren what had happened during the day.
Lauren hesitated and fidgeted after hearing this.
It was a mixture of worry and tension.
"Everyone has already said they don't care about your current appearance, and every relationship needs an ending," Lynn said.
"Are you really going to end things with your wife like this?" Lynn asked.
Lauren shook her head in confusion.
"Then let's go!"
Lynn said, "Don't let yourself regret it."
"Your lifespan should already exceed that of an average person. Do you want to spend the rest of your life regretting the decision you made today?" Lynn said.
Lauren made up her mind, clenched her fist, and nodded.
Lynn didn't care what Lauren did or said; he believed Lauren could handle the matter.
Lynn then returned to his room to perform his daily meditation practice, constructing spell nodes once he reached his current limit.
When I get tired of meditating and building spell nodes, I relax by reading a book.
This is the fulfilling feeling of progress that Lynn wanted.
As winter was drawing to a close in Bangor, a piece of news shocked the entire port.
Some time ago, the Borent family recruited a large number of ships to go to sea, but they encountered an unprecedented storm at sea. Almost all the ships sank, and only a few small boats escaped with a few good sailors.
The entire port of Bangor was plunged into an atmosphere of grief.
As a port city, many residents of Bangor rely on fishing for their livelihood, and the sailors on the sunken ships were important pillars for many fishing families in the port.
I don't know how many families' world collapsed in an instant.
What's even more intriguing is that it's said the head of the Bolt family in Bangor Port passed away unexpectedly not long ago, and the long-retired patriarch has taken back control of the family. He personally led this voyage, accompanied by many of the young and strong members of the Bolt family.
But with the unexpected event, the Bolt family was suddenly left leaderless, and the few remaining family members fought amongst themselves for the title of viscount.
As a family that grew up alongside Bangor Port, the Bolt family's influence in Bangor Port is undeniable. As the family fell into turmoil, the security of the entire Bangor Port also fell into chaos for a time.
The turmoil outside didn't affect their family much, except that Lynn sometimes heard Annika mention at the dinner table that the prices of raw materials for making clothes, such as linen, wool, and leather, had increased slightly.
With the Bolt family electing a new patriarch to inherit the title, the situation in Bangor Port stabilized, and the previously volatile commodity prices returned to calm.
For many nobles in the kingdom, a stable port of Bangor is essential to ensure a steady flow of wealth.
The edge of the harbor.
Although the development of Bangor Port has created many millionaires, life seems to have not changed much for many fishermen at the bottom of society; they still fish and sell fish every day.
To his neighbors, Bayer was a reclusive, alcoholic old bachelor.
On the boat, Bayer, wearing a felt hat with ear flaps, struggled to pull up the fishing net in his hands.
"Damn it, did we catch a corpse?" Bayer cursed.
The thing in the fishing net wasn't struggling at all; it was clearly not a fish.
If it were a fish, it would definitely struggle.
Only when the net hits a rock or some other heavy object will you feel this deathly weight.
With great effort, he pulled the fishing net onto the boat. Looking at the half-person-high bronze statue in the tangled net, a hint of confusion appeared in Bayer's eyes.
He stopped cursing and instead bent down to untie the fishing net, taking out the bronze statue inside and holding it in his arms.
Like caressing a cherished treasure, a caress that one cannot bear to part with.
"Oh, this must be a treasure. I need to hide it well, otherwise someone else will definitely try to take it from me if they see it," Bayer murmured.
He didn't even have time to fish anymore and quickly steered his fishing boat back.
For the next few days, Bayer didn't leave the house after returning home.
The neighbors noticed his strange behavior. In the past, this alcoholic would go out to buy alcohol at least once every two days, if not every day. If he hadn't spent all his money on alcohol, he wouldn't still be an old bachelor. No woman would want to marry a poor alcoholic.
A kind neighbor came over and knocked on the door, worried that something might have happened to the old drunkard.
As soon as I got to the door, I smelled a strong stench of blood.
They quickly called over other neighbors, and when they opened the door, they found the house in a mess. The floor had been cleared, and blood had been smeared on the floor in a pattern that looked like a ritual.
In the center of the design, a woman lies supine on the ground in a terrified and miserable posture. An opening that runs from her throat down to below her navel is like an open door, and all her internal organs have vanished, leaving only an empty chest.
"Ugh~"
Someone was clutching their stomach and vomiting violently.
