Chapter 95 The City Falls
Chapter 95 The City Falls (4th update)
Penthesilea's expression was priceless.
First came shock, then doubt, and finally, a sense of disbelief.
"You're saying this is a Greek conspiracy?"
"To be precise, it was Odysseus's conspiracy."
"Where are you from? Why are you so sure?"
Ang was taken aback; he didn't know how to explain.
With a final effort, Ang pointed his index finger at the huge and bizarre wooden horse.
"What if I told you that it houses the Greeks' strongest squadron of heroes?"
The wooden horse was enormous, as tall as a seven-story building. The Trojans used every means at their disposal to barely manage to pull it inside the city gate. Its strange wooden limbs were made from a single, massive log, four stories off the ground.
Not only that, the wooden horse's limbs are also very smooth.
Trusting Ang, the Queen sent people to climb up, but without exception, they all failed.
They couldn't climb up at all; they couldn't even use an axe to chisel a hole in the horse's legs or add footholds.
Sensing the faint divine aura emanating from the rocking horse, Ang finally realized—this was a conspiracy by the gods!
He gave up trying to explain.
"Pentesilea! Do you believe me?"
The Queen nodded vigorously.
"Then get ready, we're leaving tonight!"
"So urgent?"
"Tonight, Troy will be destroyed!" Ang said with absolute certainty.
The Queen's face drained of all color: "I'm going to see His Majesty the King."
Unsurprisingly, she was mercilessly ridiculed.
Not by the king, but by a group of Trojan generals.
The status of a guest player is always incredibly awkward.
When the Greeks besieged the city, the Trojans had no choice but to unite and trust every ally.
What happened after the Greeks withdrew their troops?
Every Trojan general inevitably harbored his own selfish thoughts.
Having had the greatest credit for killing Achilles stolen by an outsider, the Trojan generals had little honor left to claim. At this point, how could they allow an outsider to achieve another great feat?
Ultimately, it's less that the Trojans were deceived and more that they preferred to believe the Greeks had actually left.
The ten-year siege was a tremendous torment for both sides.
Troy is trapped in an isolated city, surviving on an exaggerated amount of food reserves.
The Greeks were not having an easy time either. Although they had conquered all of Troy's territory outside of Troy, the Trojans would not give up their dreams as long as Troy remained unfell.
Furthermore, because they believed in the same gods, the Greeks were incapable of massacring the Trojans.
For a full ten years, the Greek army crossed the ocean, leaving their homes and families behind, only to waste their lives humiliatingly outside the city.
If it weren't for the presence of deities like Athena to keep order, the kings alone would never have been able to control the homesick Greek soldiers.
As a result, all the Trojans were blinded by the unprecedented joy of victory.
Watching the Trojans sing and dance in celebration of their victory around the giant wooden horse, Ang lost all hope. He carefully tallied his spoils.
The best news, of course, was that the chariot composed of three immortal divine horses, "The Nightmare of Troy," could actually be stored away. With a single thought from Ang, it could be stored in a divine space, only to reappear when he summoned it, tearing through space.
Another piece of good news is that the King has granted Ang permission to use the portal, and he has sensed his spatial coordinates in Gotham City.
The problem is that this space seems to be locked down.
Ang suddenly realized: Athena or some other god had secretly closed the spatial barrier of Troy.
As night fell, Ang finished his last supper in Troy, declined all invitations, and sat quietly in his room, waiting for the final moment to arrive.
Penthesilea believed him and prepared for battle as well. However, she hadn't yet decided whether to abandon the Trojan royal family and go with him.
After all, this is the world she is familiar with.
Leaving Troy, she could return to her Amazon clan in just two weeks on horseback; there was no need for her to follow Ang's teleportation adventure.
Unsurprisingly, an unexpected event occurred.
It was two in the morning when the Trojans, who had been celebrating wildly for two days, fell asleep from exhaustion.
Even the sentries who used to be on high alert on the city walls fell into a deep sleep because of drinking.
An opening was quietly made in the belly of the giant wooden horse, which was impossible to climb during the day. Several ropes were lowered down, and a group of Greek heroes, including Ajax the Elder and the Younger, fully armed, completed the rappelling.
Then they encountered Pentessilia and a 300-man squad that she could command.
"Enemy attack!"
"The Trojan Horse was a Greek conspiracy!"
They went to meet them without fear.
However, they were completely defeated in just one encounter.
For no particular reason, a wounded Penthesilea was facing a squadron of over thirty heroes with divine bloodlines. The vast difference in quality meant that even stalling for time became a pipe dream.
Despite her valiant fight, the Amazon queen finally understood why Kratos had refused to join her in stopping the Greek elites who had escaped from the Trojan Horse.
Every single one of them, anyone whose body has a concentration of divine blood exceeding 10% is qualified to be called a demigod.
These thirty-odd Greek heroes before us can all be called demigods.
What good is Penthesilea's bravery?
She truly couldn't fight off four opponents.
If the Greeks hadn't been in such a hurry to open the city gates, she too would have perished here.
Their warnings did indeed wake many Trojans, but these drunken fellows were no match for the Greek hero team.
Less than ten minutes into the battle, the Queen heard a heavy creaking sound coming from the massive city gate.
The city gates have fallen!
Tens of thousands of fully armed Greek warriors poured in from outside.
"Kill them!"
"Slay the Trojans!"
"Avenge Achilles!"
The Queen leaped onto a three-story building, and by the firelight, she saw Agamemnon's banner in the distance!
"As expected! Agamemnon really didn't die! Kratos was right."
In a moment of weakness, she caused the deaths of even the last two Amazon warriors who followed her.
With that, she had no more worries and turned to run wildly toward the teleportation portal.
This formidable city, which withstood a ten-year siege by the Greek coalition, ultimately fell victim to the conspiracy of the Greeks and the gods. Fires raged everywhere, and horrific massacres were rampant.
The Greeks vented their resentment at their inability to conquer the Trojans on the Trojans.
They committed almost every crime imaginable in the world...
Of course, this does not include massacres, as many people consider ancient Greece, a supposedly democratic and civilized society, to be a slave-owning state.
This has nothing to do with Ang.
When he finally saw the familiar figure staggering towards him by the portal, he smiled.
Just then, he suddenly heard a voice that was not unfamiliar to him coming from another direction.
The other person asked timidly, "Mr. Kratos, could you give me a ride?"
