Chapter 73 I Brought Nuclear Peace
Chapter 73 I Brought Nuclear Peace
If it were simply a bunch of lunatics taking over Gotham City, the US government would never even consider using a nuclear bomb. Even if a nuclear fusion reactor exploded in Gotham, the government couldn't afford the political pressure of using a hydrogen bomb to detonate a second one on its own territory to clear the nuclear radiation.
When the riot leader on the other side turns into a zombie that can spread the zombie virus, the level of risk immediately changes.
A low-yield tactical nuclear bomb was carried out by a bomber.
At that moment, Tony and Bruce shouted anxiously into the comms channel, "Wait! The portal isn't open!"
Ang shouted back, "No! It will open! I got the 'key'!"
"Okay! I believe you!"
"Can."
Strangely enough, both Iron Man and Batman chose to trust.
This is really complicated.
Of course, as a precaution, the military used a remote control with a timed detonation. The countdown would only begin if the remote control lost connection to the main base.
"Whoosh—" Just as Bane was still being blinded by the "Heavenly" (high beams), the mushroom bomb was finally launched.
Calling it a launch isn't entirely accurate, because the nuclear missile noticeably slowed down in its latter half after launch. Tony, controlling Iron Man, quickly caught up with the missile, adopting a hitching ride. Then, Iron Man and the missile circled the outer edge of the portal, within a range of approximately five kilometers.
Everything depends on Ang.
"Die!" Several female heroes around Ang unleashed their power, with Catwoman's Batmobile leading the way, and the group charged to the portal.
Ang pressed one hand against the door frame and immediately felt a mysterious and evil aura emanating from it.
A violent, sudden drop struck, and Ang felt his mind being rapidly detached from his heavy body. He felt his soul being dragged by a powerful force through an unfathomable abyss. Everything on the other side of the portal—whether it was the two Batmobiles forming the 'Sun God' or the chaotic battlefield—vanished from his sight at lightning speed—and the next second, he felt himself completely weightless.
It seemed as if it were falling endlessly, yet also as if it were rising against gravity.
He couldn't tell east from west, north from south, up from down, left from right.
The entire soul is like an exaggerated hot air balloon, endlessly expanding and expanding.
Inexplicably, I seemed to have expanded from the size of a human body to the size of a Zeppelin airship.
If he hadn't urgently summoned the system and observed the world through its data templates, he might have gone insane at that moment.
Suddenly I understand why only the greatest mages can use teleportation.
This is not a field that ordinary humans can access.
Ang still felt nothing, not even a sense of reality, from his surroundings.
But Ang could feel that the version of himself still next to the portal suddenly opened his empty eyes, gasping for breath, his heart pounding at two hundred beats per minute.
He was just a hair's breadth away from collapsing, both physically and spiritually.
But at the most crucial moment, he locked onto a target.
One Earth!
An Earth that is almost identical to the one he lives on.
The only difference was that the Earth was gray. Except for the side illuminated by sunlight, the other half was completely dark.
There was no light.
It felt like going back to the primitive era when humans were still living in the wild, eating raw meat and drinking blood, and not even knowing how to make fire.
However, this Earth without any lights was imprinted on his mind with an incredibly strong impression.
The next second, as if by instinct, a blue dotted line connected his Earth with that dark Earth across space.
"It's done!" Ang felt that his soul and body, which were in different places, were making the same sound.
In response to his announcement, several people saw ripples suddenly appear in the middle of the previously empty portal.
The sensation of ripples spreading like a pebble dropped into a lake appeared in the middle of the portal perpendicular to the ground. In the next instant, the terrifying scene on the other side was reflected through the portal.
Several heroes exclaimed in surprise upon seeing the opposing team.
The first thing that catches the eye is a dense, swarming army of zombies, as numerous as ants. If you ignore this and look further into the distance, you can see Liberty Island in New York's Outer Harbor.
However, the world-famous Statue of Liberty has now become a horrifying sight: the Statue of Liberty's face has obviously been chiseled off and re-sculpted, turning into a terrifying skull shape from her face to her chest.
"Damn it! There's an entire zombie army on the other side!" Tony, using Iron Man's optical magnification, could clearly see everything on the other side.
"Watch out, they might charge at you," Batman warned coldly.
Ang shouted into the communicator, "No! The portal is one-way right now! But who knows what will happen later."
Without further hesitation, Tony pulled the nuclear missile to change course and charged toward the portal.
"Don't even think about it!" Bane spotted Iron Man's target and, in his haste, threw out more than a dozen boulders.
If relying solely on the nuclear missile itself, it would most likely be intercepted by Bane.
Iron Man's mobility far surpasses that of airplanes. He pulled on the missile's outer shell and performed several beautiful serpentine maneuvers without slowing down, easily dodging the attack.
Bane could only launch one counterattack because he was immediately entangled by Batman and Ghost Spider.
Under Bane's bloodshot gaze, the gold and red Iron Man swiftly plunged into the not-so-large portal.
For a moment, Tony felt like he'd been thrown into a toilet and flushed away.
The nausea brought on by the spatial teleportation nearly destroyed his will.
Fortunately, he held on.
When he came to his senses, he was shocked to find himself surrounded by an army of zombies that filled the ruins of New York. He even saw another version of himself.
Tony was dumbfounded.
"Kill Iron Man!" another Tony shouted from the other side, his voice distorted.
The next instant, the mountain of corpses was completely alarmed, and they transformed into a terrifying horde of zombies, charging towards Iron Man.
"Goodbye! Never again!" Tony playfully tossed the giant mushroom in his hand to the big guy in front of him, then turned and walked away.
No! Wait! Where's the portal I came from?
For a moment, Tony even thought he had a damn one-way ticket.
He is a very emotional and impulsive person.
Faced with danger, he didn't hesitate to protect the nuclear bomb.
It wasn't until this moment that he remembered the danger wasn't just directed at the enemy.
At this critical moment, a phantom bald man suddenly jumped out of the void. He grabbed Tony with his blue-purple hand and pulled him into a newly opened portal.
Almost at the same moment Iron Man's figure disappeared into the sky, a blazing flash filled the entire field of vision of all the undead creatures in this space.
That is—a symbol of nuclear peace.
