Chapter 30 The Wheel of Fate Went Wrong

Chapter 30 The Wheel of Fate Went Wrong

Gwen spent a sleepless night tossing and turning, and almost every time she closed her eyes, the horrifying, rotting face of the zombie Peter would appear in her mind.

His foul breath and his hideous, disgusting gums.

Gwen knew, of course, that zombies looked like this; without lips, no human would be attractive. Yet, she couldn't control her growing aversion to Peter.

Gwen couldn't hold back any longer after staying up until midnight. She changed into Spider-Woman's costume and went to search for Peter.

This time, she didn't encounter any zombie Peter 2.0; she found Peter as soon as she stepped outside.

However, she seemed to have arrived at a rather inopportune time.

Gwen didn't know how to describe the situation: in the alley behind Gwen's house, Peter was lying face up on a pile of garbage.

The even sexier, hotter redhead, Gwen, stood before Peter, who was dazed and confused from the fall, and asked with concern:

"Peter! You just swung across on a spider's web, clung to a four-story-high wall, and then fell down?"

"Uh, ma'am, you must have mistaken me for someone else. I'm not, um..." Peter started rambling.

"Stop pretending, I'm Mary Jane Watson! Your Aunt Anna's friend! I just parted ways with your aunt at your doorstep." Mary, hands on her hips, delivered a fatal blow to Peter.

Peter's eyes were glazed over at that moment. It was a complete shock. After gaining this superpower, he had many ideas, such as wearing a mask like Spider-Man and doing good deeds.

But his grand plan was exposed before it even began?

"Shh! Excuse me! Something's gotten into me, could you please keep it a secret?"

"Sure! You're... the new Spider-Man?" Mary exclaimed, displaying an aggressive and assertive demeanor.

Peter, who was somewhat timid, immediately became dejected.

His abilities are just like Spider-Woman's!

"I guess so."

"You want me to keep it a secret? Fine! Let me be your backup. Every superhero has a support team, right?"

"Yes……"

Perhaps this was the guidance of fate. Peter met Mary, and after the initial shock, the two started chatting and found themselves getting along very well.

For some reason, Gwen felt a chill as she watched this scene from the rooftop...

"Hmph!" Gwen snorted and turned to go back to her room to sleep.

The next morning, Gwen tried to calm herself down.

If she had been somewhat afraid beforehand that Peter might actually turn into a zombie last night and die right before her eyes, Gwen was furious after seeing Peter completely unharmed and chatting intimately with a beautiful red-haired woman.

However, Gwen breathed a sigh of relief when Peter, with his messy hair, unkempt appearance, and dark circles under his eyes, once again hopped into her father George's car.

The thought that the woman had bigger breasts than her made Gwen instinctively show a look of disgust.

"Uh, Gwen, what's wrong?"

"I strongly suggest you take a look at yourself." She concealed her true thoughts well while pulling a small mirror out of her bag.

Peter saw his dejected reflection in the mirror, and then noticed that even the buttons on his shirt were all askew. He immediately realized it was his fault: "Sorry, Gwen."

George, in the driver's seat, glanced over and couldn't help but tease his future son-in-law, "Hey Peter, no girl would be happy to see you like this."

He was unaware that a deep rift had developed between his beloved daughter and Peter.

It seemed like the usual school day, followed by the usual campus life, until noon.

Gwen dragged Peter, who was hanging his head and wouldn't look her in the eye, to the deserted rooftop of the school building.

"Gwen, what's wrong?"

"Are you alright last night?"

"Me? I'm fine." Peter's gaze kept drifting away from Gwen.

Gwen gripped Peter's shoulders tightly. "I'm worried about you! If that spider hurt you last night, I sincerely apologize. I caught it by chance in the wild, and judging by its markings, I can't rule out that it might be poisonous. I strongly suggest you see a doctor, get a physical exam, or perhaps consult Dr. Connors."

Peter is the kind of person who is reserved in public but a chatterbox in private.

He truly wouldn't listen to Gwen's good intentions, even her almost explicit words, and forcefully pushed her hand away: "I'm fine, I'm alright! Please don't worry about such a small thing."

"A small matter?" Gwen's eyes widened.

A physical mutation that turns him into Spider-Man, one of the superheroes? That's a small matter.

Peter, are you really going to keep this from me?

Gwen was always a woman of action. Suddenly, she raised her hand, and a large clump of spider silk shot out from her wrist and stuck to Peter's chest.

Peter stared in disbelief, his eyes wide, speechless for a long time.

"Hello! Let me introduce myself, I'm Spider-Woman. Are you the future Spider-Man?"

"I..." Peter finally silently raised his right hand, and on each of his fingers, tiny but visible barbs popped out—the secret to Spider-Man's ability to walk on vertical walls.

"As expected..." Gwen ripped the spider silk stuck to Peter's chest. "Alright, I've laid my cards on the table. What about you?"

"What about me?"

"What else did you do last night?"

"I didn't do anything. I suddenly became like this last night, and I was terrified."

"Really not?" There was an impulse that compelled Gwen to ask about Mary Jane, but the words caught in her throat. She suddenly realized she had no right to ask that question.

Zombie Peter, plus Mary Jane, that's a double whammy.

A subtle feeling of betrayal spread through Gwen's entire body.

"No." Peter sounded a little annoyed.

Gwen was a little itchy-toothed.

"Fine! So, do you want to team up with me to punish the bad guys in New York? You make the decision." Gwen abruptly shook her head and turned to leave.

If Peter and Mary's meeting last night was somewhat unexpected in Gwen's eyes, then the fact that the two of them have been inseparable for the next few days, with their relationship visibly heating up, is unacceptable to Gwen, who has unintentionally been subjected to dog food several times.

Unfortunately, Ang, who was monitoring the school, found out about it.

He sighed, facepalming. "No way! Gwen, give up! It's all Jackie Chan out there. This is fate, no, this is the ultimate destructive power of the official couple!"

So-called real harm is the most real harm.

Historically, Gwen had a terrible life. Her father died helping Peter, and then Gwen died afterward.

This was indeed a huge blow to Peter's spirit.

Perhaps this is what is called a karmic entanglement.

Afterwards, Peter, who finally overcame his mental trauma, had one or two more girlfriends, but eventually married Mary and had children!

Alas! In the end, how could the female supporting character possibly win against the official female lead in the grand scheme of things?

The wheel of fate continues to roll forward, and no one knows that its trajectory has deviated by just a tiny bit.

Dr. Connors obtained the interspecies research formula left behind by Peter's father. This led to a groundbreaking advancement in the doctor's research a week later.

Unfortunately, Ambrose Osborn, the head of the Osborn Group, couldn't wait any longer. His hereditary disease meant he wouldn't live much longer. Seeing that Connors hadn't been able to make progress, he decided to shut down Connors' laboratory.

This move directly drove Dr. Connors to a dead end.

You must know that Dr. Connors lost his right arm on the battlefield in his early years. In order to regain his arm, he has been dedicated to the research of limb regeneration, which is why he set his research direction in the field of lizard genes that can regenerate limbs. Now that his life's work is about to go to waste, how can he bear it?

So, after the group issued the shutdown order, Dr. Connors took a risk and injected himself with the newly developed lizard serum.

His severed arm did indeed grow back, but in return, he transformed into a three-meter-tall lizardman covered in terrifying green scales.

Thus, this brand-new monster gave New Yorkers a small biochemical shock on the Golden Gate Bridge.

"Aww!"

The appearance of the lizardmen caused a major traffic jam on the already congested Golden Gate Bridge.

"Aaaaaah!" The citizens screamed in panic and fled on foot.

It's not their fault. Anyone would be scared of a green lizard that walks upright, let alone one that can swat a car weighing over a ton away like a toy block.

There were innocent civilians inside the car.

"Help!?" A miserable middle-aged office worker thought he was going to die, but after the car plummeted thirty meters, it suddenly stopped and was left hanging in mid-air.

That's Spider-Man Peter Parker making his appearance.

He used his incredibly elastic spider silk to save the citizen at the last second.

However, the lizardman's madness continued, with vehicles of all sizes being knocked off the bridge, forcing Peter to intervene time and again.

He didn't realize that everything he did was being observed by another Spider-Man.

Gwen yelled, "You save people! I'll stop it!"

This is the mindset of the police chief's daughter.

"Okay!" Peter nodded, and Gwen bravely swung down and fought the lizardmen.

Unfortunately, the Spider-Man lineage's weakness of high agility and low attack power is clearly exposed when facing the thick-skinned Lizard Man.

The Golden Gate Bridge is not a terrain Spider-Man likes.

Gwen's sense of justice prevented her from doing things like using spider silk to tie up cars or using them as projectiles; when they did fight, it was just a typical case of light scraping.

Neither punches nor kicks, nor spider webs, could harm the lizardman in the slightest, nor restrain him.

In his rage, the lizardman threw a car at random, which ran over an innocent civilian.

Gwen's heart broke as she listened to the victim's agonizing screams.

"Stop him!" Gwen shouted, drawing Peter into the fray as well.

Unfortunately, if you don't break through the skin line, you'll always have to scrape it off.

To make matters worse, it didn't even go as planned.

"If Kratos were here..." Gwen didn't know why she was thinking of that seemingly rude but actually gentle man at this moment.

Unfortunately, he didn't come.

Even with two Spider-Men teaming up, they still couldn't control the crazed Lizard Man and could only watch helplessly as it rampaged through the area.

When the lizardmen rammed a car carrying children off the Golden Gate Bridge, Peter couldn't help but prioritize saving lives, while Gwen struggled to continue holding off the lizardmen.

Something that defied the course of fate happened.

Unfortunately, the New York SWAT team, led by New York Police Commissioner George, arrived at the scene in just twenty minutes.

Seeing Spider-Man rescuing people, and then seeing the Lizard Man rampaging and causing chaos, George decisively gave the order:

"Avoid those two Spider-Men as much as possible, and fire at the green lizard-like guy!"

More than twenty New York SWAT officers immediately raised their rifles and unleashed a barrage of fire at the lizardmen.

"Rat-a-tat-tat!"

A torrential downpour of bullets rained down.

The concentrated firepower, enough to turn a normal person into a sieve, was ineffective against monsters like the lizardmen.

The MP5's 9mm bullets ricocheted directly, while most of the 5.56mm rifle bullets were deflected by the lizardman's hard scales. Only a few bullets penetrated the lizardman's skin and failed to even pierce his muscles.

This classic superficial injury deeply agitated the berserk Dr. Connor.

"roar!"

Braving a hail of bullets, the lizardman, with a power and speed beyond human imagination, swiftly traversed fifty meters and charged into the SWAT team.

"Ah—" The lizardman swung his claws, immediately unleashing a bloody storm.

Members of the special police force, wearing bulletproof vests and tactical helmets, flew backwards in extremely contorted positions, like rag dolls that had been broken.

That's clearly not the way to live.

George bravely raised his pistol and fired several shots into the lizardman's head.

Unexpectedly, this aroused its ferocity.

After the SWAT officers around him were wiped out, the Lizardmen finally set their sights on Chief George.

"No!" Gwen tried to stop her.

She failed; the supple spider silk was utterly insignificant in the face of absolute violence.

The lizardman's large claws gripped her father's chest tightly.

"Rip!" The thick bulletproof vest was torn to shreds like a rag, and the fear of death froze on the faces of both father and daughter.

In that split second, a pale but strong arm appeared.

impossible!

The lizardman's terrifying vertical pupils shrank to their smallest size on the spot.

Dr. Connors was well aware of just how powerful his shot was.

A car weighing over a ton can be tossed into the air without warning.

However, this powerful blow was actually withstood by a small human arm.

The other person gripped his wrist tightly, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't move forward even an inch.

Gwen's eyes widened in utter surprise: "Kratos!?"

Something really messed up, and the author had a moment of lapse in judgment, writing something off-topic. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.
