Chapter 66 Colonel

The German defensive line.

German soldiers rushed to reinforce the first defensive line from all directions.

The sudden and massive increase in American firepower caught the attention of German officers, so they began to send reinforcements to the front lines.

In a bomb shelter, Lin Jue would occasionally peek out, looking for an opportunity, as the continuous bombardment would occasionally illuminate the German camp, which was shrouded in darkness.

Sensing the decrease in the frequency of American artillery bombardment, Lin Jue sensed the nearby German soldiers. The next moment, he darted out of the earthen cave, his figure instantly transforming into a series of afterimages. Taking advantage of the darkness, he rushed rapidly towards a bunker.

Bang bang bang!

The bunker has fist-sized windows through which machine gun barrels spew out dazzling flames. Meanwhile, at the very top of the bunker, a cannon occasionally adjusts its aim and fires intensely.

Because the first line of defense was held again, all the German soldiers who were originally stationed in the bunkers went to the front line to reinforce, which gave Lin Jue a great opportunity.

Taking a grenade from his side, Lin Jue pulled the trigger and quickly threw it into the bunker through a hole without a barrel.

The soldiers inside the bunker seemed oblivious, still engrossed in the machine gun fire, while Lin Jue quickly rushed towards the second bunker.

A few seconds after he left, the concrete bunker exploded with a dull thud.

The commotion in the bunker immediately caught the attention of the surrounding German soldiers. At first, they thought something had gone wrong with the soldiers inside the bunker, but seeing the continuous rumbling from the bunker's lines, the soldiers finally realized the seriousness of the situation.

Meanwhile, thousands of meters away in a tower on the German lines, Major General Pierre, his face flushed, held binoculars. From his perspective, he could see bunkers emitting violent roars and dazzling flashes of fire, while the German soldiers on the front lines were in complete chaos.

He placed the binoculars in his hand into the hands of the sergeant beside him.

"Quickly, call all officers at the front! The US military is launching a full-scale offensive immediately!"

"yes!"

As a group of fully equipped sergeants around him quickly began making phone calls, the American soldiers on the front lines suddenly opened fire again. With the cover of the fire, a group of American soldiers jumped out of their defensive lines and rushed toward the German lines that were being bombarded by artillery.

"Major General, did Major Lin Jue really succeed?"

A colonel-ranking sergeant quickly approached Pild, his face filled with disbelief.

"Hahaha! Well done, Lin!"

At this moment, Major General Pierd held a telescope, watching the German bunkers, which were like meat grinders, explode with a series of roars. He also watched the German lines collapse. He kept praising Lin Jue. If Lin Jue hadn't been there, he would have wanted to give the guy he admired a big hug.

Boom boom boom!

With a deafening roar, artillery fire resumed from the rear of the disorganized German forces, bombarding their own friendly troops who had not yet retreated from the front lines.

The German commander looked grim. He held his binoculars, watching the rout of his troops in front of him, and remained silent.

The battle raged on until dawn, when the first rays of sunlight shone on the trenches covered in blood and mangled limbs.

With some reluctance, Lin Jue slowly emerged from the collapsed bomb shelter after taking off his well-fitting and handsome German military uniform. His entire body was covered in a mixture of dust and dirt.

His appearance instantly attracted the attention of the American soldiers who had already occupied the German lines.

"Fuck! Major Lin isn't dead!"

"Oh my god, now I believe in God!"

"Notify the superior immediately!"

One by one, American soldiers ran up to Lin Jue with frenzied and adoring expressions. Lin Jue, who had just slept all night, was somewhat flattered. These American soldiers lifted his body up and threw him high into the air, then caught him steadily, shouting his name and celebrating their rare victory.

It wasn't until the U.S. Army sergeant found Lin Jue, who had been thrown into the air by the crowd, that these overly excited guys put Lin Jue down.

call!

Lin Jue let out a soft breath and couldn't help but pat a muscular American soldier next to him, who had patted him the hardest!

The American soldier looked at him with admiration.

Led by a U.S. military officer and amidst cheers from the surrounding soldiers, Lin Jue waved and walked towards the U.S. military camp with a smile on his face.

As the battle lines closed in, the American camp began to move forward. Before they even reached the camp, a group of officers, at least lieutenant colonels, led by Major General Pierd, quickly approached Lin Jue.

"Lin, my dearest friend, you are truly amazing! You are the bravest and strongest soldier I have ever seen. You are a well-deserved combat hero of the U.S. Army!"

Major General Delder praised Lin Jue enthusiastically as he ran over and hugged him tightly.

"..."

Gently patting the old man in front of him to calm his agitated heart, Lin Jue smiled, unperturbed by praise or criticism, and said calmly, "This is a soldier's duty!"

"Fulfilling your duty... Good! Good! You truly are our combat heroes. Look at this, now that's a real soldier!"

Pierd looked at Lin Jue with admiration, then at the sergeants behind him with 'smiling' expressions. The appreciation on his face vanished instantly, and he looked at the sergeants as if they were a bunch of useless trash.

Leading Lin Jue into the marching cloak, Pierd took out the colonel's rank insignia he had prepared beforehand, went straight to Lin Jue, and solemnly placed it on his body.

"Colonel Lin Jue, today you become the only person in U.S. military history to be promoted to colonel in just one month!"

With admiration in his eyes, Pierd watched as Lin Jue calmly gave a standard military salute. He nodded slowly, enjoying Lin Jue's composed demeanor.

After the medal awarding ceremony, Lin Jue was pulled away by the group of officers, some with admiration and others with a desire to curry favor, to enjoy a sumptuous lunch.

Australian lobster? North American snake meat? Central Plains turkey, steak, seafood—the variety was endless. Lin Jue accepted everything offered, giving himself a definite answer: this was the most sumptuous meal he had ever eaten since he traveled through so many dimensions!

After enjoying fine wine and food, Lin Jue was told to get some rest. After tossing and turning for a while, he finally returned to his warm bed.

"Good heavens, Captain America, getting to see you, the main character of this story, has really been a nightmare!"

Lying in the dark green bedding, Lin Jue stretched out his limbs, sighing with a touch of helplessness. The reason he had to keep contributing to the U.S. military was to quickly raise his rank. Only when he reached a certain level would he have a certain degree of freedom in the military.

Otherwise, how would he find Captain America, who should still be a skinny guy, in the vast battlefield?
