Chapter 67 - Thomas Wayne

Through the Ancient Blood, Ron and Ciri entered the fortress without attracting any attention.

As Ron stepped out of the portal opened by Ciri, he looked around before nodding approvingly and saying, "Not bad, it seems you've already mastered the use of your abilities."

"To some extent," Ciri replied. "Short-distance teleportation within the world should be fine. But for longer distances, it's hard to say."

Take your time.

Through a hidden door, Ron and Ciri leisurely entered the interior of the casino fortress. Following the passage downwards, they soon arrived at a somewhat dim and gloomy space.

It resembled a cave, but unlike the caves Ron remembered, the rocks here were all man-made. The main structure was reinforced and sealed with a special alloy. Considering the distance from the ground, Ron was certain that even if dozens of nuclear bombs exploded on it, he would be completely unaffected.

After a quick glance, Ron was certain that this underground chamber possessed a complete ecological cycle. The adjacent storage room contained ample emergency food, medicine, and other necessities. He was certain that even someone entering this place empty-handed and unprepared could live a comfortable life by following the instructions.

However, in this small ecosystem, what often kills people is not disease, but loneliness.

I walked further in, and there was a bedroom. Calling it a bedroom would be an exaggeration, because it was incredibly basic. There was only a cold, hard little bed and a table. On the table was an old, framed photo of a happy family of three getting ready to go to the movies.

Next to the photograph was a pistol placed in a dust-free enclosure.

Although it's kept in a cleanroom, anyone who comes in can tell that this gun is a complete defective product. A few more shots and it'll probably explode and die of old age, let alone kill anyone.

The black casing of the gun was covered in rust and scratches; after a quick glance, the rifling inside was no longer visible. Although it was a weapon, this pistol was a complete failure compared to the many other weapons on display; it wasn't even considered junk.

Anyone with even a basic understanding of firearms and hand-to-hand combat would choose to fight with their fists rather than with this piece of junk that you don't even know where the bullet will go after you pull the trigger.

And this very junk was placed on the table beside the bed. When I woke up and opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was a family photo of the three of us and a broken gun.

"The Wayne family really does have some issues with their brains," Ron remarked, looking at the display before him. "Who would put the murder weapon that killed their family on the bow of a ship?"

Upon hearing this, Ciri was about to inquire about the situation when she realized something and quickly reached for the sword behind her back. However, before she could draw the sword, a dark figure appeared in a blur, kicking Ciri aside and casually grabbing a nearby table before delivering a merciless blow to Ron's back.

"Who are you! Why are you here?!"

As they spoke, the table collided with Ron's back, shattering into countless pieces. Sensing the solidity of Ron's body, Batman's gaze sharpened. Immediately, a short knife engraved with runes shot from his wrist, stabbing fiercely towards Ron's thigh.

Unfortunately, before the blade could even touch Ron's body, an unshakeable force arrived, and Batman saw a pair of fingers already blocking the short knife in his hand.

However, this did not frighten Batman at all. On the contrary, the next moment, a high-voltage current of 30,000 volts erupted from his wrist guard. Although he had grabbed his own blade with his bare hands, to Batman's surprise, all the electricity seemed to disappear without a trace, failing to achieve the desired effect.

Is it some kind of transparent insulating material?

Just as Batman was about to activate the other deadly gadgets on his wrist, Ron's voice came from the side.

"Stop, Ciri, your attacks are useless."

Upon hearing this, he had already drawn his sword behind Batman and raised it, ready to attack. Hearing Ron's words, Ciri raised an eyebrow, indicating what was wrong.

In response, Ron said, "Mr. Thomas has a divine force field, and he seems to be a fresh product from the Amazons. And it's not just that simple... Without the power of spacetime attached, and without drawing his rune sword, you can't hurt him with just a steel sword."

Upon hearing Ron's words, Batman snorted coldly, and then, to Ciri's incredulous gaze, his body vanished in a blur, appearing beside her as if by teleportation.

Noticing the incredible speed, which seemed like teleportation, Ron raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything more.

In contrast, Ciri glanced at Batman with some suspicion, not because of his astonishing speed, but because after releasing her senses and perceiving a subtle inconsistency, she understood why Ron had told her the attack was ineffective.

Upon closer inspection, it was indeed true that Batman was enveloped in a layer of energy that was almost imperceptible without careful observation. Under the enhancement of this energy, even if one's own attacks were effective, they could only leave superficial wounds…

"This world is still very dangerous. No matter what kind of enemy you encounter, my first advice is to activate the power of the ancient blood and draw the rune sword."

Ron said calmly, "Although it's possible that someone might accidentally kill another person, it's okay. At least there's still a chance to apologize, instead of waiting to burn paper money on the seventh day after someone's death."

"Okay, I've got it."

Ciri nodded, indicating that she had remembered. As for Ron's subsequent ramblings, Ciri had already habitually filtered them out.

Then, Ron looked at Batman, gazing at his shoulder armor, which was unlike any other Batman's, curved like bull horns, and said:

"Although I already knew this when I was talking to Victor, to be honest, seeing your chin covered in spiky buttocks still makes me a little disillusioned... I can only say that Batman is more suited to your son Bruce."

Upon hearing the name Bruce, Thomas's lips twitched slightly. He then looked at Ron, his eyes beneath the mask radiating a captivating red light.

"Tell me everything you know, everything."

"That's what I wanted to tell you too."
