Chapter 66: Ron Park is Enthusiastically Recruiting
Clearly, because his body temperature is always below freezing, Victor has also lost much of the human sense of honor and shame.
Ron waved his hand and said, "Come on, look at yourself. I'm not even moved by Captain America's nice butt, let alone a bald head like yours where all your hair follicles have frozen to death!"
"That's good."
Victor breathed a sigh of relief and said, "So you mean you're interested in my skills?"
"Pretty much. Working for Batman is one thing, but how about working for me?"
"How is the salary calculated?"
Upon hearing about the salary issue, Ron clapped his hands, and the gates of the Infinite City behind him swung open. What came into view was a space covered in ice and snow. The space wasn't very large, about a hundred square meters.
Inside the space were many iron chairs, in which sat several burly men, their hands and feet bound by chains. As the overseer pressed a button, a crack opened above their heads, followed by a blast of frigid wind. The Wild Hunt's wandering knights let out a chilling scream, their bodies rapidly covered in ice and frostbite.
As their body temperature plummeted, the supervisors nearby used special brushes to collect the frost that had fallen on their heads into containers.
Inside the square space, on the left is a sign that reads: "Promote first-class work style, strive for first-class spirit, and achieve first-class results!"
The sign on the right reads: Light snow, normal work; heavy snow, non-stop work; blizzard, relentless work; nighttime, working by lamplight. We won't take a break unless our boss suddenly dies. We won't rest until the universe restarts!
Horizontal scroll: Keep striving!
At the very top are four large characters printed on it.
Ron Park
"Your output this month isn't enough." A patrolman, steel rod in hand, approached a burly man the size of a bear. Without saying much, he raised the rod and delivered a vicious blow to the man's face.
With a loud bang, broken teeth flew everywhere.
First came a meal of dragon fruit, then a stomp on the stomach, followed by CPR and artificial respiration. After this whole process, he was strapped back to the chair, the dosage was increased, and he woke up again shortly afterward.
Seeing this, Ron frowned: "What's going on? Is someone slacking off? Not doing their job properly?"
"Ah, Boss, I'll urge them right away..."
Before the inspector could finish speaking, Ron reached out and shook his neck twice:
"Optimize it a bit, let him reincarnate quickly."
"Yes, ma'am."
As they spoke, the non-elf members of the former Wild Hunt Red Riders nodded nervously, then drew their swords and turned to walk towards the burly elf.
After closing the portal, Ron turned his gaze to Victor beside him.
"That's how you get the white frost you need. To be honest, the monthly production isn't much. If you're willing to work for me, I can provide some to meet your experimental needs."
Ron seemed very easygoing: "Don't worry that I would treat you like that. In fact, people who know me know that I am a gentle and easy-going person."
"I don't believe it," Victor said with a deadpan expression. "Killing someone is nothing to scare me. There are far more dead people than living people in this world."
"Who killed him? I only asked him to cut off that elf's frontal lobe."
Ron said nonchalantly, "The White Frost is a special arcane calamity that hunts down the elves. To escape its pursuit, they plundered countless worlds, leaving them desolate. Then, when the White Frost descends, they silently depart like heartless scumbags who have just dumped their lovers. They have been rampant and domineering for hundreds of years. Because of their plundering, countless planets have been eternally frozen by the White Frost."
"Now? I'm just letting them experience a similar kind of despair. Murderers should be prepared to be killed, and I think I don't need to tell them that; they're already prepared."
After a pause, Ron added with emotion, "Actually, I'm still quite humane. At first, I was thinking about whether I could erase their souls and leave their bodies to continue capturing White Frost."
"Who knew that Bai Shuang was targeting their souls. So you don't need to worry that they will lose their ability to think because they don't have prefrontal cortex. In fact, even if the prefrontal cortex is removed, their souls will still have the same thoughts and perceptions, it's just that their bodies are not under their control."
"That sounds even more animalistic."
Victor glanced at Ron with disdain, then fell silent.
After a moment, Victor said bluntly, "I can work for you, but you have to tell me why."
"Space modification." Pointing to the cryogenic generator beside him, Ron said, "This is too rudimentary. I'll provide the materials, you provide the brain, and we'll build me something bigger."
"Where should I put it?"
"In the Infinite City, I will create a closed spatial dimension within the Infinite City."
Upon hearing this, Victor nodded thoughtfully.
"A confined space, white frost, the passing warmth and heat..." A hint of keen interest appeared on Victor's lips as he curiously inquired, "Do you want to create heat death or cold death?"
"They're all pretty much the same; it's just a trial. If it doesn't work, there are other methods."
Ron shook his head and said, "While I'm the one hiring you, whether you're qualified to be hired is another matter entirely."
"This world is constantly dying, and the fate of everything in it is affected as a result. If you cannot break free, then even if I wanted to hire you, you would still follow this world into the next cycle of reincarnation."
"So, you don't need to give me an answer now, because it's pointless. Tell me your answer when everything has settled down, if you're still alive."
After saying that, Ron stood up, turned around and walked towards the door: "I'm going to talk to Old Bat."
Good luck!
Victor said, "Speaking of which, according to your theory, if I hadn't escaped the fate of this world's demise, all this white frost you gave me would have been..."
“That’s right,” Ron said casually. “If you die, as relics that don’t belong to this world, these things will eventually return to me.”
"You're a real piece of trash."
"Haha, it feels so good to be called a human being~"
As they spoke, Ron and Ciri left Victor's laboratory.
Stepping out of the frozen alley, Ciri stretched her shoulders a couple of times, feeling a bit unwell.
"A warmer environment is more comfortable."
"really."
"What do we do next? Do you know that guy called Batman?"
"I know him, but I need to confirm it now."
Looking at the fortress-like gambling city before him, Ron said:
"Let's guess, does the old bat have the same habit as the young bat of collecting weapons?"
