Chapter 116 - You're also called Loki?

Looking at the seemingly ordinary bluestone in Xiaoyu's hand, Loki couldn't help but distort his expression.

The so-called Dimensional Heart is a special multiverse-level mystical creation. Although called the Dimensional Heart, its form is not definitively defined, often forming unconsciously with the user or creator, representing the core, primordial form of a dimension. Its most fundamental ability is complete control over an entire dimension.

Without exception, every being who has mastered dimensions is among the strongest in the infinite diversity, and in many mythologies, civilizations, and fields, they are revered as 'demons' or 'gods' according to their personalities and preferences.

In the dimension of a dimensional lord, the dimensional lord, as the creator, possesses near-infinite power. Similarly, Odin, as a powerful being of the Celestial Fathers, undoubtedly possesses immense power. However, whether it's Odin, the Ancient One, or any other Celestial Father-level being capable of easily killing a dimensional lord in the material universe, they would all try to avoid entering dimensions with a clearly defined master.

An absolutely safe house, where there's no need to worry about supplies or energy consumption, and where you can enter and exit at any time regardless of spatial distance. Just hearing about it makes you appreciate its value.

This is precisely why, although the formation of dimensional hearts sounds simple, very few are actually scattered. Simply killing a dimensional lord cannot create a dimensional heart. In most cases, these dimensional hearts return to the world as pure arcane energy upon the demise of their dimensional lord. Or they are absorbed by other dimensional lords to strengthen their own abilities.

And now...

Loki was certain that this thing was the legendary Heart of the Dimension—although it was incomplete, just a fragment, there was no doubt that the aura emanating from it was genuine!

At this thought, a deep greed also rose in Loki's eyes.

"Then give this to me!"

Looking at the talisman in Xiaoyu's hand, Loki reached out to snatch it away—it's not that Loki would make such a choice, but for anyone who knows about dimensional demons, the Heart of the Dimension is absolutely worth any kind of risk! Even if someone already has their own dimension, no one would mind having more dimensions, right?

Now, yearning to know the reason for his existence and fearing where his future self should go, Loki knows very well what the fragment of the Heart of the Dimension before him represents—even if it is only a part of the complete Heart of the Dimension, the power it represents is enough for Loki to move freely in this universe!

But before Loki could take the talisman, Jade had already retrieved it.

"What are you trying to do?!"

Hearing Xiaoyu's words and seeing the wariness on her face, Loki's expression stiffened slightly—bullying a child and stealing from a child was undoubtedly a great disgrace to someone like Loki who prided himself on being cultured and elegant. But then he thought about his projections and legends in other worlds…

Loki's face turned cold. He raised his staff and pointed it at Jade and Atreus, saying in a chilling voice, "Give me all the talismans you have on you, and any information about talismans and other magical items! Otherwise, I'll let you freeze to death here!"

Upon hearing this, Xiaoyu stiffened, a hint of fear flashing in her eyes. But at that very moment, Atreus, as if by magic, produced a hornbow and arrows from his system space, drew it to its full extent, and swiftly aimed it at Loki, saying, "What are you doing!"

Noticing Atreus's display of warrior prowess, though still quite immature, Loki narrowed his eyes and decided to give them a taste of their own medicine, letting them experience firsthand the extreme cold of Jotunheim, far exceeding the limits of what ordinary humans could endure!

In that instant, without a doubt, Jade and Atreus couldn't help but shiver. But soon after, Jade returned to normal, looking around at herself. She felt warm all over, but she didn't know why... Jade glanced at Loki with some confusion, unsure if the bad guy had suddenly had a change of heart.

However, after confirming that even the horned creature looked completely bewildered, Xiaoyu stopped pondering the source of this power. Instead, she stared intently at Loki and said, "Hurry up and warm up Atishys too! Otherwise, I won't be polite!"

Upon hearing this, Loki, though puzzled as to why Atreus wasn't immune to the cold, didn't care. He simply sneered, "Heh, I'd like to see how you're going to make me look bad!"

Upon hearing Loki's words, Jade charged forward without hesitation. While not slow, she was certainly not fast in Loki's eyes. Loki easily dodged Jade's light punch, and then Jade turned around and unleashed a burst of fire from her palm.

Noticing the fluctuations in the arcane energy, Loki's eyes showed a hint of seriousness, and a verdant magical barrier quickly unfolded in front of him. But the exploding flames seemed to be more than just simple fire; the moment they touched the magical barrier, it began to be scorched from the inside, and numerous cracks appeared.

Seeing this, and meeting Xiaoyu's gaze, Loki also snorted coldly:

"Hmph, your use of them is a complete waste! Let me use them!"

As he spoke, Loki teleported behind Jade and reached out to grab a corner of the talisman. Looking at the dragon-shaped mark on the bluestone, Loki quickly realized that this was the reason the little girl could use this incredibly powerful arcane ability at will.

But just as Loki was about to reach out and snatch it, suddenly, Loki's entire body jolted.

No, it wasn't just Loki; the entire world seemed to freeze in that instant.

An invisible cursed force shot out from the dragon talisman, striking Loki's fingertip and ejecting his entire soul from his body into a mirror world where the flow of time had been slowed down by hundreds of times.

Loki's body remained frozen for a fleeting moment upon contact with the dragon talisman, but his soul remained free. Floating behind his physical form, Loki looked up and quickly saw a bald old man in a Midgardian mage's robe smiling at him. That face... he seemed familiar? The one his father revered as the Sorcerer Supreme... what was his name again... Ancient One?

Seeing Loki's utterly bewildered expression, the Ancient One wore a beaming smile.

"This is a treasure of Midgard, and it must not be allowed to leave the country!"

The moment the words left his mouth, Loki's soul returned to his body at an astonishing speed. The sudden, dramatic shift was too much for him to handle; his magic went berserk, and Loki was blasted away with a loud crash as the magic exploded within him, shattering countless blocks of ice before finally coming to a stop.

He stood up again in a daze. Because of the explosion of magic, Loki stood there for a while before belatedly getting up from the ground.

He had barely gotten up when he saw Xiaoyu grabbing his ankle. Meanwhile, the boy named Atreus had adapted to the cold of Jotunheim at an astonishing speed. Although he was still shivering, he had regained his mobility and stubbornly drew his hornbow, aiming it at himself.

Looking at the two young men and women before him who hadn't let their guard down at all even before he lost his fighting ability, Loki was surprised that these dimensional hearts called "spells" had the protection of the Sorcerer Supreme. But as a prince of Asgard, Loki knew very well that as long as he didn't do anything reckless, the Sorcerer Supreme wouldn't risk a war of civilizations to kill him—provided, of course, that he also abided by the rules and didn't have any inappropriate greed.

Thinking to himself, Loki sighed inwardly that such a treasure as the Heart of Dimensions was right before his eyes, yet he was not qualified to obtain it...

Thinking this, Loki looked at Jade and couldn't help but say with a hint of jealousy, "Give up, little girl. Although you have a fragment of the Heart of Dimensions, there's not a trace of magic in your body, so you can't unleash its true power."

"I don't care! You better behave yourself!" Xiaoyu said warily.

Loki scoffed, "Behave yourself? Haha, you think you can hurt me? That kid next to you is way stronger! But I'm a god, I'm immortal! You can't harm me!"

Hearing Loki's mockery, Jade narrowed her eyes, then smiled and said, "But I feel that your power as a god isn't as strong as I imagined!"

"Um?"

Before Loki could even react, Jade floated up, grabbing Loki by the ankle and hanging him upside down in the air. Seeing Loki's bewildered expression, Jade snorted and said, "I'd like to see just how strong a god really is!"

Immediately following, Xiaoyu's left hand swung like a fan, striking left and right in a flurry of blows. In Xiaoyu's grasp, Loki felt an irresistible force coming from his ankle. Before he could react, he was hoisted upside down and then began a series of brief but frequent and intense intimate encounters with the hard ice.

They kept smashing things back and forth for about half a minute, until Atreus, who was standing to the side, couldn't stand it anymore and said, "Why don't we stop for a bit? He did save us, after all."

Upon hearing this, Jade nodded, then threw Loki's body to the ground with a thud. She then floated down slowly and approached Loki, who was lying in the crater where he had been smashed, with his arms crossed, his eyes blank, and even the two large golden horns on his head broken off.

Xiaoyu gently poked him twice with her toe, and said warily, "Are you alright? I was holding back..."

"...You might as well say you've given it your all..."

Loki gave a somewhat numb grumble, but didn't take the matter too seriously.

You should know that this little girl looks ordinary, but behind her is the Sorcerer Supreme of Midgard—in this universe, which is usually stable, the Federation and the Empire may not even know about this little-known civilization on Earth, which has not even fully explored its star system or planet.

However, for an empire like Asgard, whose civilization spans millennia and tens of thousands of years on average, Loki, despite not knowing much about Midgard, could glean some insights from his father's attitude alone.

If I remember correctly, my father once said that the Sorcerers Supreme of Midgard all possessed the ability to easily dispose of the corpse of a dimensional daemons. They were only stationed on Earth for various unknown reasons, fulfilling their mission.

And they themselves do not serve just Earth, but a far more sublime world and the universe itself, a great deity called "Eternity" that is only described in fragments in ancient legends.

Thinking this, Loki's eyes darted around a couple of times, then he forced a smile and asked, "Speaking of which, young lady, do you know the Ancient One, the Sorcerer Supreme?"

"The Ancient One?" Upon hearing this, Xiaoyu was taken aback at first, then said, "I think I've heard of him... Yes, my father mentioned him, but not the Sorcerer Supreme, but my grandmaster!"

Well, no wonder a little girl like you who hasn't even learned magic could come across something like this.

Loki was somewhat speechless—he'd finally made it to Jotunheim, only to run into the Sorcerer Supreme's disciple and his followers. Although she hadn't yet begun her training, judging from the young girl's abilities, Loki was pretty sure she possessed at least three fragments of the Heart of the Dimension.

Even disregarding the many mysteries hidden within Midgard itself, Loki was certain that the mere news of these three fragments of the Heart of Dimensions would trigger a fierce war among a host of large-scale civilizations of cosmic scale.

Well, let alone wars between cosmic civilizations, given the value of the Dimensional Heart, it wouldn't be surprising if those dimensional demons hidden outside the real world personally intervened!

I initially thought two experience-boosting babies had arrived, but upon closer inspection, I realized they weren't experience-boosting babies at all! They were actually two living dads!

Loki was certain that since the Ancient One, the Sorcerer Supreme, had already discovered him, his father in Asgard must also know.

Even if he didn't know before, the Ancient One should have already informed his father. Thinking about it this way, it's impossible for Loki not to feel any psychological pressure. But having already arrived in Jotunheim and begun his journey to find his origins, he had no reason to give up!

Let's just grit our teeth and keep going. It's just taking care of two kids... As long as they don't run around, there shouldn't be any problems!

With me, the God of Mischief, here, how dare those two little brats run away?!

Thinking to himself, Loki, with a pained expression and full of disdain, said, "My name is Loki, from Asgard. For the time being, you'll be following me..."

Before Loki could finish speaking, Atreus, who was standing to the side, widened his eyes upon hearing Loki's words.

"You're also called Loki?!"

"what?"
