Chapter 115 When Jackie Chan asked Jade to stay here and not run around

Chapter 115 - When Jackie Chan told Jade to stay here and not run around...

The story begins when Ron is watching Batman have fun in the DC universe.

It would be hard for Atreus not to be bewildered if he suddenly found himself in bustling New York after coming from the desolate and sparsely populated Nordic region.

In the early morning, Atreus stepped out of the house and curiously looked around at the unfamiliar city before him.

For Atreus, this world was truly beyond his imagination. Skyscrapers tens or even hundreds of meters tall were everywhere, and the streets were bustling with people. And then there were their mounts, those things called cars. What kind of energy did they use to rune them? Magic? Then why didn't he sense any runic energy on them?

Squatting at the doorway, perhaps because everything before him was beyond Atreus's imagination, Atreus felt a mixture of curiosity and fear.

It's not fair to blame Atreus for this. During his time in Midgard, Atreus lived entirely within the barrier set up by his mother, Laufey. Outside of this barrier, aside from a few scattered villages nearby, he had never been anywhere else. Furthermore, given Kratos's personality, even if Atreus himself wanted to explore the outside world, he would choose to give up under his father's control.

Perhaps I should find a way to bravely take the first step? After all, I am a god!

Thinking this, Atreus scratched his little head.

Although he already knew he was a god, after Ron explained Kratos's past and attacked him, Atreus also realized that gods represent not only power and authority, but also responsibility.

The reason her father hated God so much was because of his past experiences.

No wonder my father was controlling his anger...

Atreus remembered that when his mother was still alive, the two of them encountered a group of berserkers while hunting. These berserkers worshipped wild runes, and although they were human, they fought like beasts, driven by pure rage, and could transform into giant bears under the influence of their totems.

Both fought through rage, but the father was at a disadvantage because he needed to control his inner fury... He didn't know much about his father's past before. But now that he knew, Atreus found it unbelievable that his father, who could slaughter even the gods at will, now had to be cautious when facing a group of berserkers.

Why does Father want to control his power? Wouldn't it be better to just release it directly...? Or is Father still afraid of those things from the past?

He was still just a child, and even though he knew about the pain Kratos was enduring, Atreus still couldn't understand it.

This feeling is similar to students in a classroom taking an exam, before entering society, who often write "low human resource costs, demographic dividend" on their test papers when faced with a question about national advantages and feel proud of it. Some things, you only realize after experiencing them that everything you thought about is completely different from what you actually did.

Speaking of which, Aunt Freya seemed to have said that Mom was a giant? The last giant of Midgard? Does that mean I still have giant blood in me? But if that's the case, then I'm way too short now, aren't I? And Mom doesn't seem to be very tall either...

Yes, he also said he wanted to scatter his and his father's ashes on the highest peak in the Nine Realms... Where was the highest peak again? If I remember correctly, Mimir mentioned that the highest peak was in Jotunheim...

I heard that's the homeland of all giants? Hmm… why didn't Mom tell me? Does Dad know…?

Just as Atreus was lost in thought, a girl's voice suddenly came from the side.

Hey! You look like you have something on your mind!

"Um?!"

Upon hearing the girl's voice, Atreus paused for a moment, then looked around. Finally, looking down, he suddenly noticed a little girl, about his age, sitting under the bushes at the entrance of the mental hospital.

After glancing around to make sure no one else was there, Atreus asked with some curiosity:

"Who are you?"

"My name is Xiaoyu! I'm from Hong Kong. It's summer vacation, so I'm helping out at my dad's antique shop!"

As she spoke, a short-haired girl in a short-sleeved shirt and jeans jumped out of the bushes and looked at Atreus with great interest, saying, "Are you from this hospital? I heard from Uncle Long that a powerful occultist lives here! Is that true?"

"A master of occultism?"

Upon hearing Xiaoyu's words, Atreus scratched his head and said, "I'm not too sure about that, but there are indeed many mages, warriors, gods, and ninjas here."

Perhaps because Xiaoyu was the first person Atreus had met his age, or perhaps because Xiaoyu naturally possessed an aura of familiarity, Atreus wasn't nervous when he heard Xiaoyu's question. Instead, he took the initiative to answer:

"What are the characteristics of the occult master you're looking for? Perhaps I can ask him for you."

"Hmm, I think his name is Ron?" Xiaoyu said. "He was dressed all in black, and I heard he's a very powerful master, but I've never met him, so I'd like to see him! Just one look is enough~"

As she spoke, Xiaoyu's eyes darted around a few times, then she whispered, "It would be even better if you could tell me where he is!"

Upon hearing this, Atreus scratched his head and then said awkwardly, "I'm sorry, but I don't really know where Ron is right now either."

"Uh, that's a shame. I went to so much trouble to steal... uh, I mean take it out, hehehe..."

Just as Xiaoyu was still laughing awkwardly, Jackie Chan's voice suddenly came from the side.

"Xiaoyu! Where are you! Xiaoyu! Come out quickly! I told you not to move around, but you still stole the talisman and the Eye of Aurora!"

As he spoke, Jackie Chan turned his head and saw Atreus and Jade standing at the entrance of the mental hospital. He waved somewhat awkwardly to Atreus, then walked menacingly towards Jade and said:

"I told you not to touch anything! Sheriff Black of District 13 told me you secretly took at least three talismans using the Eye of Aurora!"

A talisman? What's that?

Seeing Jackie Chan running towards them, Xiao Yu, feeling guilty, said, "Oh no! We can't let Uncle Jackie catch us! Um, what's your name?"

"Ah! My name is Atreu..."

"Never mind that for now, let's hide!"

In a panic, Xiaoyu grabbed Atreus's hand and, without saying a word, pulled out a golden necklace from her bosom and put it directly on Atreus's head.

"Uncle Long is coming. I just used it and it's not working now. Quickly think of where you want to go!"

Upon hearing this, Atreus paused, then instinctively said, "Uh... Jotunheim?"

As the words fell, golden arcane energy surged forth from the necklace, engulfing Atreus in a spatial turbulence before he could react. When he regained his senses, he found himself surrounded by a world of ice and snow.

……

"So, this is your reason for invading Jotunheim?!"

Looking at the two little ones in front of him, Loki—the Loki from Asgard in the Marvel Universe—looked at Atreus and Jade with a suspicious expression.

Ever since learning about his "infamous" reputation in Midgard and his so-called "Thor-Loki" storyline in some universes of the infinite multiverse, Loki has been trying to foresee his future destiny. Putting aside the infamy for now, the main thing is that Loki really can't accept being turned into a dumpling by construction site oxen, and he has absolutely no interest in getting involved with that stupid Thor.

Although they were brothers, Loki acknowledged Thor's bravery. But the thought of Thor's goofy grin made Loki unable to resist thinking—what kind of terrible taste would someone have to think of a love story between two men?

Unfortunately, although Loki possessed far greater magical talent than Thor, prophetic magic related to fate was knowledge that only a very few individuals could comprehend, even in the vastness of the universe. And among these few, those who could truly glimpse fate were even fewer. Loki, in any case, was not among them.

However, Loki didn't come away empty-handed. For example, when Loki tried to peek into the future, he unexpectedly discovered that his past didn't seem to be as his parents had said, that he was born in Asgard.

On the contrary, by groping upwards along the threads of fate, the coordinates hidden within those threads are actually Jotunheim.

The realm of the Frost Giants is a desolate place shrouded in frigid temperatures year-round. Even on a cosmic scale, it is an extremely barren planet, almost impossible for any life or civilization to arise.

But on such a low-level planet, an extremely powerful and special life form was born, namely the so-called Frost Giants.

They are born with power similar to Jotunheim itself; even without attacking, simply standing still radiates a chilling aura. They possess a talent for ice magic far more terrifying than that of other civilizations and life forms, and their ice bloodline grants them even greater strength and allows them to withstand more damage. Aside from a natural disadvantage against certain arcane attributes like fire and lightning, they are virtually invincible in every aspect.

But this is precisely what Loki finds incomprehensible.

If I were truly a Frost Giant, my icy bloodline should have awakened long ago. Why am I still like this, where even three of me wouldn't be enough to defeat that idiot Thor in terms of pure strength?

Filled with doubt, Loki decided to travel to Jotunheim on his own to find out what was going on.

Unlike Thor's reckless actions, Loki knew how to use his advantages, using extra privileges to perform the Rainbow Bridge jump without authorization.

"My father must not know, otherwise I wouldn't be staying here..." Loki thought to himself.

Then, they encountered Xiaoyu and Atreus, who unexpectedly appeared on the ice field.

Loki didn't find anything particularly special about Jade. She was a very traditional Midgardian, without superpowers, physically weak, short-lived, and seemingly not very bright. She was already shivering from the low temperatures of Jotunheim as soon as she arrived.

However, another boy who appeared with Jade caught Loki's attention.

This guy who called himself Atreus... Loki sensed a similar aura about him.

Out of curiosity, Loki used magic to protect the two from the cold and asked them why they were there.

When Loki heard that they were there because of the golden necklace called the Eye of Aurora around Atreus's neck, a hint of curiosity appeared in his eyes.

Although the mortals of Midgard are weak, Father and Mother have invited the strong of Midgard to the Celestial Palace more than once to exchange magical insights.

Of course, many of these powerful beings are already dead, having died of natural lifespan. Although many of them could kill Loki with a single thought even now, Loki couldn't help but feel proud when he thought that even ordinary people in Asgard had lifespans dozens of times longer than those powerful beings in Midgard.

Although I wonder why they don't actively try to extend their lifespan, who cares? Maybe it's some kind of genetic issue.

With curiosity, Loki said, "Let me see this necklace."

Upon hearing this, Atreus and Jade exchanged a glance, then looked suspiciously at Loki and asked, "What are you going to do?"

"Look, these kinds of magical items involving space often have extremely high value. Especially since, as you said, you arrived in Jotunheim with just a thought... You little guys probably don't know, but having cosmic-level space travel ability, being able to travel freely between the various kingdoms of the Nine Realms, if it were put at an interstellar auction, you could easily buy a dozen resource-rich planets~"

"Too difficult! Really? But I feel like you're lying!"

Upon hearing Loki's words, Jade said incredulously, "Is it really that valuable? I feel like I took it out quite easily. Uncle Long and the others didn't seem to care much about it! The talisman is much more appealing!"

"You took it out so easily? A talisman?" Loki was stunned. Are all the people in Midgard this rich? How could a mortal girl steal something like this so easily? In Asgard, this would definitely be a top-tier treasure worthy of being added to Odin's treasury.

With a single thought, one can travel to any destination. Although the number of people is limited, anyone with a modicum of common sense can realize just how terrifying this thing is.

For example, they could be directly teleported to an ammunition depot to set off a fire, teleported to a nuclear power plant to set off a fire, teleported to a research center to set off a fire, teleported to the bedroom of the head of state to set off a fire... and that's just setting off a fire, not even counting other methods.

"But... what kind of talisman are you talking about?"

Hearing Loki's question, and considering that Loki had assured them they wouldn't be affected by the cold wind, Xiaoyu thought for a moment and then took out one of the talismans, saying, "Here, this is it."

That's... the Heart of a Dimension?!

Loki's eyes widened in disbelief.
