Chapter 1 Wedges

Sun and Moon Federation Era

Douluo Continent, Shrek City, Shrek Academy.

As the largest city and home to the top academy on the mainland, this place was once a place that countless people longed for.

But now, everything has vanished.

The most powerful weapon ever created by mankind, the God-Slaying Soul-Guided Cannon, was stolen by the Holy Spirit Cult in conjunction with the Eternal Family of the Spirit Pagoda and deployed to Shrek Academy.

In order to leave the college with a last hope.

Yun Ming, the strongest person in the Douluo Continent today and the current head of Shrek Academy and Sea God Pavilion, burned all his cultivation and life as a self-created god and a level 99 quasi-god to the extreme of ascending to godhood. In the end, he not only blocked the God-Slaying Soul-Guided Cannonball, but also killed a large number of powerful members of the Holy Spirit Cult who attacked, causing the Holy Spirit Cult to suffer heavy losses.

Ultimately, this earth-shattering event ended with the fall of eight titled Douluo of the Holy Spirit Cult; the death of Yun Ming, the peerless genius who created his own godhood; and the annihilation of Shrek Academy, a once-powerful institution that had dominated the continent for over 20,000 years.

Unbeknownst to everyone, Yunming's soul was taken to an unknown place by a spacetime rift created by the collision of god-killing and divine power.

Spirit Hall Era

Douluo Continent, Heaven Dou Empire, outside the capital city of Heaven Dou City

A small mountain village nestled among the peaks, this was once an outpost of the Haotian Sect. At this time of year, the village would usually be filled with the smoke of cooking fires and the playful antics of children. But now, the smoke had vanished, replaced by the smoke of war.

An elderly man dressed in a black robe, tall and thin, with blood-stained clothes, appeared in the mountain village, anxiously carrying a pregnant woman.

The woman being held was about sixteen years old, with a beautiful appearance and a resemblance to the old man. However, her face was full of pain, and if you looked closely, you could see traces of blood on the corner of her mouth that had not been completely wiped away.

The old man's name was Yang Wudi, the patriarch of the Po Clan, a clan affiliated with the Haotian Sect and one of the four single-attribute sects. He was a renowned expert and master pharmacist on the continent. The beautiful woman was Yang Wudi's only daughter, Yang Ying.

So why would Yang Wudi, covered in blood and carrying his pregnant daughter, appear in this dilapidated little mountain village in such a sorry state? The story begins with a shocking event that happened in the world of Soul Masters on the mainland some time ago.

Not long ago, Tang Hao, the successor of the sect leader of the world's number one sect, the Clear Sky Sect, killed Qian Xunji, the current pope of the Spirit Hall, the number one soul master force on the continent, for unknown reasons. This enraged the Spirit Hall, which demanded that the Clear Sky Sect hand over Tang Hao or it would send troops to attack the Clear Sky Sect.

The Clear Sky Sect was quite powerful, and its members were arrogant and domineering, so they naturally wouldn't easily hand over anyone. A chaotic battle ensued, but compared to the Spirit Hall, the Clear Sky Sect was far weaker, suffering heavy losses in the process. To ensure the sect's survival, the Clear Sky Sect announced that its successor, Tang Hao, was expelled from the sect, and that the sect would close itself off, retiring from the world of spirit masters, with its members no longer venturing across the continent.

The matter should have ended there, but who knew that after the Clear Sky Sect's main sect members safely retreated to their sect high in the mountains, they would cut off the mountain access routes for their affiliated sects, directly abandoning the four single-attribute clans that had served the sect for many years. As a result, the four clans, who had just formed a deep enmity with the Spirit Hall by fighting for the Clear Sky Sect, were directly exposed to the Spirit Hall's weapons and became the Clear Sky Sect's pawns in quelling the Spirit Hall's anger.

What happened next became clear: the Clear Sky Sect transferred the Spirit Hall's hatred towards them onto its four subordinate clans, causing the already weakened clans to be targeted by the Spirit Hall. After a fierce battle, the four clans broke up and fled separately.

Among them, the Po clan suffered nearly half its losses, and Yang Wudi's entire family was also wiped out. His only son died tragically in this battle, his younger brother Yang Wushuang was captured by the Spirit Hall, and even Yang Wudi's son-in-law, Yang Ying's husband Yun Huang, died on the battlefield while trying to block the attack launched by the Spirit Hall experts against Yang Ying. If Yang Wudi and Yang Ying hadn't acted against the tide, their fate would be uncertain. However, although most of the power of the attack launched by the Spirit Hall experts against Yang Ying was blocked, the residual force still injured the relatively weak Yang Ying and caused premature labor!

"Ah Ying, hang in there, hang in there!"

The old man found a relatively clean courtyard, broke down the door and entered. Then, from inside the courtyard came a woman's painful groans, a sound that was heart-wrenching and desperate.

"Ah~"

The excruciating pain was so intense that it deeply distressed the elderly woman who was assisting with the delivery.

After an unknown amount of time, accompanied by a woman's heart-wrenching scream, the cry of a baby was heard.

"Brother Yun!!!"

"Wow! Wow!!"

The old man looked at his grandson in his arms and felt a surge of joy, which even dispelled some of the sadness he had experienced that day! But before Yang Wudi could finish being happy, he felt his daughter's life force rapidly declining. Upon seeing this, Yang Wudi's expression changed drastically. He put down his grandson and hurriedly used his own soul power to help his daughter maintain her life.

While channeling his soul power, he also took out all sorts of rare and precious elixirs rarely seen in the outside world. Things he would have previously hesitated to use even a tiny bit of himself, he was now using as much as he could to save his daughter's life. This master pharmacist, Yang Wudi, couldn't care less about anything else now. He spoke anxiously as he administered the medicine, trying to save his daughter.

"Ah Ying, don't sleep! Father will heal you, Ah Ying!"

"Ah Ying! Look, look at Daddy! Daddy begs you, don't sleep!"

Seeing his daughter's life force slowly waning and her imminent departure, Yang Wudi suddenly thought of his newborn grandson. Like a drowning man grasping at the last straw, he hurriedly shouted.

"Ah Ying! You've just become a mother, and your child needs your company to grow up. You absolutely cannot sleep! Even for the sake of your child, you absolutely cannot sleep!"

Perhaps Yang Wudi's medication finally took effect, or perhaps a mother's great maternal instinct was awakened by her child and she was forcibly holding on. Yang Ying finally regained some consciousness from her dazed state, and could be heard speaking slowly in her intermittent, faint voice.

"Father, where is your son?"

The voice was very soft; even for Yang Wudi, a peak Soul Saint whose senses far surpassed those of ordinary people, it sounded like a whisper. However, this whisper was still like heavenly music to Yang Wudi, filling him with ecstatic joy. He quickly carried his grandson to his daughter's side while simultaneously continuing to treat the child.

However, Yang Ying's vital energy was too severely damaged, and the damage was already irreversible. The current treatment could only delay her death!

Yang Wudi was aware of Yang Ying's current situation, but he was unwilling to accept it. He had already lost three family members today, and he didn't want to lose his precious daughter as well. Yang Wudi said with a slightly choked voice.

"The child is a boy, and he looks just like you, so beautiful. You have to take good care of yourself; you still have to be there for him as he grows up!"

Hearing her father's voice, Yang Ying turned her head to look at her son beside her. A happy smile appeared on her pale face, and she spoke gently in a soft, almost inaudible voice.

"A son? That's fine too!"

Perhaps sensing that her days were numbered, Yang Ying whispered to her son.

"Son, Mom may not be able to be there for you as you grow up."

"Don't be a picky eater... Eat more food and grow up quickly."

"Also, remember to make friends. You don't need many friends; a few truly trustworthy partners are enough."

"Also, although I'm not very good at it, you must study medicine making and cultivation well. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, so don't be too discouraged if you encounter difficulties. At the academy, you must respect your teachers and seniors."

"Don't just focus on studying and practicing; you also need to rest well."

"Although you may become interested in women in the future, remember not to get entangled with strange women. Go find a good woman like your mother."

"You will encounter many painful and heartbreaking things in the future, so you must firmly stay true to yourself."

Overwhelmed with emotion, Yang Ying could no longer stop her tears from flowing, her voice choked with sobs.

"besides"

"besides"

"besides"

"besides"

I'm currently reading the error-free version! This is the first time I've published this novel.

"besides."

There's so much more I want to tell you.

I also want to stay by your side forever.

"I love you"

"Finally, there's Dad. Although Dad didn't witness your birth, he loves you just as much as Mom does!"

Hearing his daughter's message to her grandson, Yang Wudi, who was standing nearby, shed tears of sorrow, because he sensed that his daughter was about to collapse.

After speaking at length to her son, Yang Ying, who was clearly exhausted, mustered her last strength to speak to her father.

"I'm sorry, Father, in the end I'll make you sad because of your spoiled daughter. I... I'm entrusting my child to your care."

Finally, let's give the child a proper name so he can grow into a real man.

After saying these last words, Yang Ying left this world with regret and reluctance.

"Ah Ying!!!" Yang Wudi cried out in grief, tears streaming down his face.

Wow~~ Wow~~

At that moment, the child beside Yang Ying probably sensed his mother's passing and suddenly began to cry sadly. His cries were like pearls falling to the ground one by one from a broken string, a sound that truly saddened those who heard it and brought tears to their eyes.

Perhaps having heard the grandfather and grandson's voices, two Soul Kings, each with five Soul Rings shining on their bodies, rushed into the courtyard and surrounded Yang Wudi.

Upon sensing the approaching figures, Yang Wudi's grief over his daughter's passing instantly transformed into overwhelming killing intent. Wiping away a tear, he picked up his grandson, a dark spear appearing in his hand, and his seven spirit rings materializing. With a roar, he charged forward.

"kill!!!"

The two Soul Kings of the Spirit Hall were terrified when they saw that the person in front of them was Yang Wudi. However, they knew they would die if they didn't fight, so they had no choice but to fight to the death with the belief that they would perish together.

Before long, the dust settled, the courtyard gate opened, and Yang Wudi, with a murderous aura and bloodshot eyes like a demon from hell, walked out of the courtyard carrying the child. Looking in from outside the gate, the two Soul Kings of the Spirit Hall were now lying in pools of blood, lifeless.

Having vented his anger, Yang Wudi remembered his grandson in his arms. The murderous aura dissipated, and he began to check on the child. Fortunately, the child was unharmed, just asleep, probably exhausted from crying for so long.

Yang Wudi glanced at the sky, which was as gloomy as splashed ink and as dark as hell, and then looked at his grandson in his arms. His hoarse voice rang out.

"Reaching for the heavens above, and exploring the depths of the netherworld below!"

"From this day forward, you shall be called..."

"Yun Ming!!!"
