Chapter 70 The Beautiful Sister-in-Law? (Bonus Chapter)

The hospital bed was filled with the smell of disinfectant.

Clark slowly woke up.

The pain in his head reminded Clark how real everything that had recently happened was.

"Hey, you're awake?" Lana's voice rang in my ears.

The girl held an apple in her hand, skillfully flipping a fruit knife to peel it, her big eyes filled with heartache: "You were too reckless."

Clark remained silent. He was taken to the hospital, but what happened next?

The boy asked, "What happened?"

Lana fiddled with the small knife in her hand, blinking her big eyes: "The Luther Chemical Plant called the police, and then it's said that the perpetrator, in a fit of rage, shot and smashed the elevator, causing it to malfunction and fall from a great height, cracking his skull."

"Everyone is safe and sound now, except for the blood that came out of your head."

Clark remained silent as he listened to Lana's explanation.

It seems Gino has taken care of everything. Yes, the Luther family is always clever and shrewd.

"Your aunt and uncle have been taking care of you. Martha has gone back to the farm to prepare dinner for you, leaving me here to watch over you."

"But how did you get injured?"

Lana handed Clark a fruity apple.

The girl had witnessed Gino and Clark's abilities before; both possessed extraordinary powers, but she didn't know what could possibly harm Clark.

Clark pursed his lips, and the boy in the hospital gown slowly sat up straight, pressing his hands against the bed.

Looking into the goddess's eyes, Clark hesitated for a moment before telling Lana what had happened between him and Gino.

"My God!" Lana exclaimed, covering her mouth in surprise as she listened to Clark's description. "That's too much!"

Smashing an opponent's head with a single punch is such a cruel thing that Lana simply cannot imagine such a scene.

"You also think Gino did something wrong, right?" Clark's big eyes lit up, a look that yearned for recognition.

But, to Clark's surprise, Lana shook her head after careful consideration.

"No, Clark," Lana said softly, "If I were Gino, I would probably also choose to use force to subdue the killer; it's the best option for everyone."

She glanced at Clark cautiously, then pinched two fingers together and said, "Sometimes, you should be more cautious."

Hearing Lana's words, Clark, unusually, did not respond, but instead lowered his head and stared at his hands.

Even Lana, did she realize she was wrong?

Young Clark looked up, his eyes filled with confusion as he gazed at the scenery outside the window.

Under the setting sun at the hospital, several birds perched on a large tree, calling to each other with their clear, melodious chirping.

Clark knew he had lost Gino as a friend.

Luther Castle.

At the entrance to the hall, the cleaning maids bowed and greeted the young heir.

The girls exchanged glances, silently discussing how Gino seemed to be in a bad mood today.

"Um."

Gino nodded indifferently, picked up the milk brought by the blonde maid, and drank it all in one gulp.

"call."

Exhaling a breath of stale air, Gino slumped onto the sofa and closed his eyes slightly.

Too much happened today, leaving him mentally exhausted.

A faint scent of perfume wafted into my breath.

Immediately afterwards, Gino felt himself being hugged from behind, with a pair of soft, white arms pressed against his chest.

They followed the trajectory downwards.

"Snapped!"

Gino slowly opened his eyes and gently clasped those mischievous little hands.

Through the LCD screen in front of him, a woman in a black dress with a beautiful figure was embracing Gino with a seductive expression.

"I'll give you three seconds to let go of me." Gino spoke coldly, his expressionless face conveying an air of authority that made the woman's eyes flicker with unease.

She subconsciously released her grip, rubbing the goosebumps on her arm, her eyes filled with surprise and uncertainty.

Why would she obey a little brat?

But the woman quickly composed herself. She tossed her long, wavy golden hair, her face alluring, and parted her red lips to reveal two rows of pearly white teeth, her beautiful eyes fixed on Gino.

She strode down on the sofa next to Gino, her long legs swaying gracefully.

She lowered her voice, trying to create an ambiguous atmosphere: "I didn't expect you to treat me so badly."

Gino ignored the woman, simply picked up the half-finished milk on the table, took a sip, and glanced at her with a cold smile: "Victoria, what do you have that deserves my respect?"

"A foolish woman who has only a beautiful appearance but only knows how to sell her body to get what she wants."

Gino made no attempt to hide his contempt for Victoria, staring at the pale-faced woman and saying, "I don't care if you were sent by Lionel to test Lex or by the Harvey family to steal trade secrets, that's between you and Lex."

"Don't try to provoke me, I'm not interested in business."

With godlike power, why would Gino care about so-called wealth?

After saying that, Gino stood up without hesitation and went back to his room.

Lying on the spacious bed, Gino sighed softly.

Information about Victoria flashed through my mind.

This beautiful woman's name is Victoria Harvey.

The Harvey family has always been a rival of the Luther family.

It seems that this guy's ex-girlfriend's sudden visit may be carrying orders from the Harvey family, or perhaps acting on Lionel's will to bring Lex a new round of tests.

This is what is known as a "honey pot," a trick used to test whether the future successor of the family can resist the temptation of beauty.

"However, these people underestimate Lex."

Gino smirked; he was ready to watch Lex outwit these fools.

Smallville Police Department.

Inside the evidence room, the police officers stood in a row, barely daring to breathe, like soldiers being inspected.

The reason was simple: in the evidence room stood a large, obese woman wearing a suit and tie.

Her dark skin proved her identity; she was of Black descent.

This woman is said to be a high-ranking figure who came from the White House and previously worked for large violent organizations such as the FBI and CIA.

"A small town where hundreds of people die every year for all sorts of strange reasons." Amanda stared at the various photos on the wall.

A shriveled, dried-up corpse; a mechanic electrocuted to a crisp; and a headless body that recently died at Luther's factory.

These mysterious and bizarre events were what drew her to the town.

Amanda picked up the documents on the table and casually flipped through them. Her well-informed mind quickly led her to conclude that the report was full of flaws.

"It's impossible for an elevator falling and hitting a person's head to cause this kind of injury."

Amanda looked at the blood-soaked photo and sneered, her thick lips curling into a cold laugh: "It looks more like his head was blown off at close range by a heavy Barrett."

She picked up the missing Julie's file on the table again, her expression inscrutable. The day before the girl disappeared, a man in the town died from losing 98% of his body fat.

Amanda lowered her eyes in thought: "These missing persons are all concentrated in the Smallville town high school, or they are connected to the Luther Chemical Plant."

Amanda's eyes gleamed with a strange light as she looked at these bizarre and mysterious cases.

As a lackey of the bigwigs in the White House, she knew that the world was not as simple as it seemed.

Not long ago, she was assigned to investigate the strange events that had occurred in the town of Smallville over the past few years.

The woman's brown eyes swept over the file of the "Luther Factory Case," and a cold smile curled at the corner of her lips: "Let's start with this case."

P.S.: Chapter 66, which I wrote this morning, was a bit off. It was mainly because it felt like I was trying too hard to be pretentious and neglected the logic of the language and the conflict of viewpoints. Tonight, I revised the dialogue details to highlight the contradictions and psychological changes between the main characters, making the logic smoother. You can go back and take a look. Over.
