Chapter 44 Father and Son
Chapter 44 Father and Son
"Thank you for taking me home."
On the forest path, Lana stood with her hands behind her back, her little face full of smiles.
"No, you're welcome." Clark scratched his head and smiled shyly.
After school today, instead of staying at the club to clean, he went to help out at Lana's workplace in town.
The two walked side by side, and Clark felt wonderful.
However, just like any story, it eventually comes to an end. After passing through the dense forest, a two-story villa with lights on came into view.
"Alright, we're here." Lana took a few steps forward, turned to look at Clark, and said somewhat awkwardly, "I was going to invite you to my house, but my aunt is furious about the damage to her house; she's been very angry lately..."
"I know."
Clark scratched his cheek knowingly and pointed to his farm not far away: "Well then, goodnight."
Lana smiled and waved:
"Good night."
Clark watched the girl leave, feeling as sweet as if he had eaten a piece of honey. The boy, with a happy smile on his face, turned and ran towards his home.
"Bang!"
Before Clark could even reach his home, a terrifying explosion rang out, the enormous sound engulfing the entire town like a deafening thunderclap.
"That's right!"
Clark looked in the direction of the sound and saw orange-red flames leaping and billowing smoke igniting half the sky.
"Whoosh!"
Without hesitation, Clark ran towards the direction of the fire.
Like a blur, Clark effortlessly rushed to the fire scene.
"Crack!"
On the highway, an overturned tanker truck was engulfed in scorching flames, and the surrounding trees were also set ablaze. If left unattended, the nearby forest would be consumed by the flames.
"I must stop this disaster."
Clark, looking serious, activated his super speed to search for a fire extinguisher in a nearby resident's home.
He carried a fire extinguisher and moved back and forth at the fire scene.
With its terrifying speed, it could only be seen as a blur, constantly searching for fire extinguishers and oil tankers around the town, and the fire was gradually weakening.
"Pfft!"
Another fire extinguisher was poured on, and the burning flames were finally put out.
"Huff huff"
Clark was panting heavily, wiping the sweat from his face.
"this."
Clark looked around and soon spotted two charred, dried-up corpses in a patch of blackened ruins.
In their dehydrated state, the two bodies resembled two charred sticks, and Clark could not determine the cause of their deaths, attributing it solely to natural disaster.
"They are dead."
Clark looked at the two corpses with a hint of guilt: "If only I had been nearby, I could have saved them."
Clark's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of police sirens coming from not far away.
The boy knew he couldn't stay there, so he sighed deeply and turned to run away into the distance.
Clark crossed the road, dodging oncoming police cars, until he saw an unexpected figure walking across the road at an extremely fast pace.
With his tall stature and dashing demeanor, Clark frowned slightly, a vague sense of unease creeping into his mind.
"Gino!"
Clark called out the man's name.
Gino was taking a walk on the road when he heard Clark's voice, and a look of helplessness appeared on his face.
Clark had just thrown Watt into the tanker truck to "roast" him when he discovered the fire and ran over?
Clark rubbed his hair and said awkwardly, "What are you doing here so late?"
He was somewhat worried that the fire was caused by Gino, but he believed Gino must have had a reason.
Hearing Clark's words, Gino sneered. Clark's rhetoric was too naive.
With a sigh, Gino pointed to the night sky above: "Me? I'm taking a walk here, watching the stars."
In the small town free from industrial pollution, many bright stars twinkle with a radiant glow.
"Did you see the fire just now?" Clark asked gravely. "Two people were burned to death."
"What does that have to do with me?" Gino glanced at Clark and said as he walked away, "I told you on the first day of school, Clark, that I don't like to meddle in other people's business. If I do, it just means I'm in a good mood."
That's obviously a lie. Gino just wanted to get rid of Clark. Otherwise, if Clark found out that he had killed Watt, that guy would give him a whole bunch of lecturing nonsense.
Therefore, sometimes the truth doesn't matter; only lies can satisfy both sides.
Hearing Gino's words, Clark looked at him suspiciously: "Are you sure?"
"Believe it or not, I should go home." Gino waved his hand, not wanting to argue with Clark.
"Whoosh!"
Clark watched Gino disappear into the night as a blur, his eyes thoughtful.
What is the truth?
........................
Luther Castle.
As Gino approached the castle’s dark and massive iron gate, he saw several Rolls-Royce cars parked on the lawn inside.
Gino glanced at the Metropolitan license plate on the back of the car and couldn't help but smile knowingly. "Wow, looks like someone's in for some trouble."
"Young Master."
The old butler opened the iron gate for Gino: "The master is in the hall."
"Yeah, Lex might not be in a good mood tonight."
Gino smiled; his own brother and Lionel didn't get along.
Simply put, when two very opinionated people get together, it's bound to be a disaster.
Before he even reached the living room, Gino heard the sound of iron swords clashing coming from inside.
Upon entering the hall, two figures wearing protective gear were engaged in a fierce battle.
As the frequency of the rapier clashes increased, the figure on the right soon found it difficult to defend, which gave the opponent an opportunity.
"Bang!"
The rapier pressed down on the other rapier and thrust forward suddenly along the blade.
The headless sword was pressed against the throat of the figure on the right, and a cold snort came from under the victor's mask.
"Ha, it seems you have a lot to learn."
Lionel removed his mask, revealing a gloomy face.
"Bang!" The loser took off his mask and angrily threw it to the ground. Lex stared coldly at his legal father, remaining silent.
Lionel dropped his rapier, strode out of the castle, and, not forgetting, instructed Lex, "I want to see you lay off 20% of your staff next week, kid."
As Lionel passed by the calm-faced Gino, he glanced at his mysterious youngest son and said casually, "Also, you're in charge of keeping an eye on him."
Lionel left with his secretary and assistants, leaving Lex behind with a gloomy expression.
Gino chuckled and walked straight to the sofa. The maids, who were barely daring to breathe, quickly brought over fruit and milk.
Taking a bite of the crisp apple, Gino raised an eyebrow at Lex and said, "Our loser looks like he's in a bad mood."
"Ha, foolish old man."
Lex took a deep breath, picked up the helmet from the ground, and said with a brooding expression, "Just wait, I'll make him sincerely admire my work sooner or later."
