Chapter 420 Progress
Chapter 420 Progress
"This guy's leg is broken."
Harley hid behind the rocks, watching with curiosity as Captain Boomerang lay dying on the beach.
"They're all dead!"
After eating one of the legs, Killer Croc arrived at Death Shooter's side. He glanced at Boomerang Captain, whose body was beginning to twitch unconsciously, and then at the mangled legs not far away.
"Hey, shorty, do you want this leg? If not, I'll take it."
Killer Croc scratched its head, strode towards the severed legs, and picked them up amidst the shocked gazes of Captain Boomerang and his many teammates. It then shook off the bullet casings embedded in the flesh and devoured them with relish.
"Click-clack~"
The crisp chewing sound echoed clearly in everyone's ears, causing everyone's expressions to change.
"Wow, you're really not picky about food." Harley looked down at her long legs, thankful that she hadn't ended up like Captain Boomerang.
"Quickly, kill me!"
Captain Boomerang watched in despair as his legs clicked and groaned under those sharp teeth; he felt like dying.
Knowing he had no chance of survival, the boomerang captain screamed in agony:
"Whether you detonate the bomb in my neck or shoot me through the head, just give me a quick death!"
None of his family members could understand. Watching his flesh being torn apart between sharp teeth made him want to die.
"Okay, I'll ask the captain."
Seeing that this wasn't working, Deathshooter quickly pressed the earpiece to contact Trevor: "Trevor, the boomerang looks like it's no longer viable. What's your opinion?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the communication line, before Trevor's voice came through: "Wait a moment."
"Beep beep beep~"
After a brief busy signal, everyone first heard a loud "bang," and then countless drops of blood mixed with flesh and bone fragments scattered everywhere, with some even splashing onto the faces of some members.
"Ugh, how disgusting!"
Harley disgustedly raised her little hand to wipe away the bone fragments on her face, then shook her little hand to shake off the bits of flesh.
Deadshot and Fireman were both stunned. They clearly hadn't expected Colonel Trevor to kill Boomerang Captain with a nanobomb right in front of them.
But soon, the two men understood what Colonel Trevor meant: he was making a scare tactic, warning the other members of the team not to have any ulterior motives.
This brutal act also made Death Shooter and his companions realize that what Amanda said was true.
"Sizzle~"
Colonel Trevor's voice came through the previously quiet headset again.
"Alright everyone, let's continue. This military island is heavily guarded, so you'd better be careful at all times and not become the next Boomerang Captain."
"Understood."
Deadshot nodded and hung up the communication. He stood up and looked at the squad members: "You've all seen what happened to Boomerang. From now on, listen to my commands."
"Killer Crocodile, you're tough, so go to the front and act as the tank."
"Harley, roam and provide support. Brand, you stay behind me."
With just a few words, the action plan and route for everyone were arranged.
He waved his hand, and the group continued their journey into the pitch-black forest.
"Now everyone listen up, I'm going to tell you about the current situation."
Trevor then began to explain the mission to everyone:
Cordomatis is a small island nation located off the coast of South America.
"For over a hundred years, the island has been ruled by the Herrera family with an iron fist."
"But a week ago, General Sylvia Luna and his assistant, Chief of Staff Matteo Suárez, seized control of the island through an armed coup."
"The previous rulers were all brutally hanged on stakes."
"American politicians never acknowledge the tyranny of Herrera politicians, after all, the people on this island do not oppose free America."
"But the newly appointed General Luna is a prime example of a staunch opponent of American rule."
"So, to put it simply, you want us to kill that general named Luna, right?"
Deadshot lowered his head to reload his weapon while asking Trevor a question over the walkie-talkie.
"No, you have something else to do."
"Do you see your team's twelve o'clock position?"
"There is a tall tower there."
Everyone listened to Trevor's words and then looked towards the twelve o'clock position.
In the darkness of the night, a tall tower could be seen appearing and disappearing.
"That's a scientific institution; they're working on a project called Project Starfish."
"This project is supposedly used to study extraterrestrials."
Harley's eyes widened immediately:
"I understand, I understand."
"So, is this the next act where our free America saves the world?"
"Evil institutions have wielded power they should not have."
"Therefore, we need to destroy this evil organization immediately and take this power into our own hands."
Harley's words revealed what Trevor was about to say next.
Although he desperately wanted to argue back, the words stuck in his throat, and he didn't know how to say them.
After all, he knew that what Harley said was true.
The group headed towards the Black Tower.
At this moment, the night sky seemed to have been torn open, and rays of light once again enveloped the island.
"That's the guard tower."
The Death Shooter loaded his gun and looked up at the distant tower.
"The so-called starfish, which is actually an alien creature, is inside that tall tower."
The Death Shooter, holding his binoculars, his night-vision goggles allowing him to easily see the scene outside the tower: "Forty soldiers are standing guard there, seemingly aware of our invasion."
"Honestly, I really don't think it's necessary," Harley Quinn shrugged. "Why don't we tell the Justice League about this?"
"If we let them do this, it would only take them a few dozen seconds to complete."
As she spoke, the girl's eyes sparkled and she drooled, saying, "Especially my idol, Mr. Gino Luther, he is so great, selfless, and powerful."
"Shut up, Harley! This mission is completely confidential; you're not allowed to tell the Justice League!"
Before she could finish speaking, Colonel Trevor's furious voice came through her earpiece.
He had no intention of letting the Justice League members know about their operation, because if the Justice League found out, Trevor and Amanda's plan would be ruined!
"Now, storm that tower and retrieve the alien creature!"
The deadly shooter reluctantly raised his gun and said, "It's your will."
