Chapter 40 Human Genes + Clark Genes =

Clark seemed to have a very long dream, a bizarre and fantastical dream.

In the dream, a gray-skinned, oppressive alien-like creature gripped his neck with one hand and grabbed a man dressed in black, disguised as a bat, with his buttocks and chin in the other.

Darkseid is here forever.

The ferocious and terrifying creature shouted in a low voice, followed by a beam of intense light shooting from its eyes and engulfing Clark.

"what!"

Clark screamed; the dream was so vivid that it sent a chill down his spine.

As his vision gradually cleared, Clark heard the "rustling" sound of his footsteps on the soil. He saw lush trees all around him and damp earth. The cool morning breeze sent a shiver through Clark.

He found himself being carried on someone's back, a broad and sturdy back, just like when he was a child and his father held him in his arms.

"Awake? If you're awake, walk by yourself."

A calm yet familiar voice sounded in front of Clark, bringing him a sense of peace.

"Smack."

Gino lifted Clark's arm, and the big boy stumbled onto the wet mud, slowly regaining his balance.

Clark's eyes were filled with complex emotions as he watched Gino's retreating figure.

Gino's attitude saddened Clark, but he knew he was wrong.

Kind-hearted Clark knew better than anyone what he should do.

"Gino." Clark's expression was conflicted. He lowered his head like a schoolboy who had made a mistake and stammered, "I'm sorry, I was wrong."

"Gray attacked me last night and killed many people."

"Ugh."

Hearing Clark's apology, Gino sighed. The boy said nothing, but turned around and looked into Clark's sincere eyes.

The boy walked up to Clark and simply patted him on the shoulder: "Don't do that again next time."

"Uh-huh."

Hearing Clark readily agree, Gino simply smiled and didn't take it seriously.

Clark's inherent kindness will only lead him to make the same choice the next time he faces a similar dilemma.

But that's Clark; everyone has their own innate character.

Imposing one's will on others and forcibly changing them is typical of American hegemony. Gino doesn't like this. There are too few kind people in this world. It's not bad to let Clark remain kind.

The two walked side by side, and for a moment the atmosphere was somewhat silent.

"Gino." Clark broke the silence, hesitatingly asking, "How is Lana?"

"She's fine; she slept at my castle last night." Gino glanced at Clark. "But I advise you to think about how you're going to explain to Jonathan and Martha why she didn't come home last night."

Upon hearing Gino's words, Clark's face stiffened, and the young man gasped, pursing his lips as he said, "I... I forgot!"

Offending Jonathan isn't so bad; Clark has already argued with his father more than once.

But if Martha gets angry, both he and Jonathan have to shut up and not say a word.

"I have to leave."

Clark scratched his head a little embarrassedly and looked at Gino: "I'd like to invite you to my house for dinner sometime."

After this experience, Clark clearly now considers Gino a close friend he would risk his life for.

"Um."

Gino nodded without saying anything, simply watching Clark's figure disappear into a blur.

After Clark left, Gino strolled back to his own castle.

Having learned from the old butler that Lana had already left, Gino didn't care and leisurely strolled into the hall.

Before he had walked more than a few steps, Gino saw three men in suits wearing glasses, cologne, and watches on their wrists.

Their attire reflects the typical image of elite white-collar workers in a metropolis.

"Wow, I didn't know there were guests?"

Gino raised an eyebrow and smiled, taking the milk the maid brought him and taking a sip.

"Mr. Gino."

The white man who seemed to be the leader of the three puffed out his chest: "We've been waiting here for Mr. Lex for an hour, and he still hasn't shown up."

"Hmm, Dominic, I don't concern myself with these company matters." Gino shook his head, picking up a pool cue from the billiard table and toying with it like a spoiled brat, his gaze sweeping mockingly over the three men: "Why did Father send you here?"

"yes…"

"Don't speak yet, let me guess."

Gino bent down and easily pocketed a yellow ball: "It's because of the company's financial losses."

The Luther family owns many properties in Smallville, and Gino knows that Rice stole a sum of money to advance his experimental project.

"Yes."

Dominic, one of Lionel's assistants, adjusted his glasses: "Mr. Lionel believes Mr. Lex will take drastic measures to lay off those employees."

"Ha, then you're probably going to be disappointed." Gino chuckled. His older brother was always very opinionated, even excessively so.

"If I were you, I would choose to leave wisely, because you won't be able to wait for him today."

If he's not mistaken, Lex might already be studying Gray's corpse at the experimental facility.

"call."

Hearing Gino's advice, Dominic turned pale and was furious.

Of course, his anger wasn't directed at Gino, but at that arrogant Lex.

As Lionel's assistant, Dominic knew exactly how bad his relationship with Lex was.

He took a deep breath, waved his hand, and led his subordinates away: "In that case, I will convey Lex's attitude to Mr. Lionel."

The three left the castle, and Gino also put down his golf club and called over a few maids to massage his shoulders.

Gino closed his eyes and squinted for a while, and soon heard a series of hurried footsteps.

With quick and decisive steps, Gino knew it was his older brother who had come to visit.

Lex walked into the hall, took off his suit jacket, and glanced at Gino, who was sprawled on the sofa having his legs massaged by the maids:

"Did those annoying guys leave?"

"Ah, they're gone, but I bet the person you hate the most will be here soon." Gino shrugged. "Another heated argument is about to break out."

"Ha, he doesn't understand the significance of this experiment, and I won't let him know." Lex sneered, showing disdain for Lionel who was about to arrive.

He looked down on his father, while his father always felt that Lex was not convinced by him.

If I had to describe their relationship in one sentence, it would be "awkward".

"So, how did the experiment go?" Gino chuckled, waved his hand, and the maids respectfully left, leaving only Gino and Lex in the hall.

Upon hearing Gino mention the experimental project, a flame of passion seemed to burn in Lex's eyes: "Unbelievable! You know about those kryptonites? They can actually modify human genes, thus granting all sorts of strange abilities?"

"so?"

Gino Bear shrugs.

Lex leaned back on the pool table, thoughtfully stroking his chin, and said, "If I use kryptonite to enhance the DNA of those cyborgs, and add that to the Clark gene you mentioned before, what kind of thing could I create?"
