Chapter 32 Clues

Dense forest.

A gentle breeze rustled through the treetops.

As if sensing something, Lana slowly raised her head: "Clark?"

The girl was somewhat surprised to see her neighbor here, but when she saw Clark's friend Gino next to him, the girl's expression became a little awkward.

Because of Whitney, his relationship with Keanu wasn't exactly good.

However, as the most popular socialite at the town's high school, Lana approached the two with a smile on her face.

Lana smiled, blinked, and asked, "What are you all doing here?"

Gino glanced at Clark, wondering if Clark was thinking about the camera's contents. The big boy's cheeks were flushed, and he looked completely at a loss.

"Sigh, you should start dating early." Gino mentally gave Clark a "zero" score for his performance, and with a half-smile, he swept his gaze over the girl and said, "We meet again."

Lana felt a bit annoyed by Gino's gaze. Just then, Whitney caught up from behind her.

"Lana, uh, and Gino too."

When Whitney saw Gino there, he looked somewhat frightened, feeling a dull ache in his broken arm.

"Whitney." Gino nodded casually, as if to say hello. Then, Gino's gaze swept between the two of them, and he deliberately asked, "You two seem to have had a fight?"

He hadn't forgotten Lana's scolding of him before, and now that he could embarrass these two, he naturally wouldn't hold back.

Sure enough, when Gino asked the question, Lana's beautiful face stiffened slightly. She looked deeply at Gino, who was smiling, and she was certain that he was doing it on purpose.

However, as Clark's ideal woman, Lana's cheerful and generous personality was definitely a plus. The girl didn't hesitate and nodded seriously, "It wasn't a fight, Whitney and I broke up."

"Oh~" Gino nodded slowly, drawing out the words. "Perfect timing, Clark and I have something important to tell you."

With that, Gino ignored Whitney's embarrassed expression and pulled Clark away into the distance, gesturing for Lana to follow.

Watching the three figures disappear into the distance, Whitney clenched her fist hidden in her sleeve: "Third bastard!"

the other side.

"What do you want?"

Lana crossed her arms, wearing a brown short-sleeved shirt, her long, flowing black hair adding to her youthful energy.

Gino glanced at Clark and, seeing that Clark was still lost in thought, felt a surge of exasperation and suddenly elbowed Clark in the waist.

If it were an ordinary person, the former might be injured, but since they were both made of steel, Gino’s elbow strike to Clark was truly painful.

"hiss!"

Clark gasped and quickly clutched his back. When he came to his senses, he saw Lana looking at him with curiosity.

"Uh-huh."

Clark casually lowered his right hand, which was clutching his lower back, then scratched his head and awkwardly handed over the camera in his left hand.

"Lana, I think you need to take a look at this."

"What?"

Lana took the camera, and when she saw what was in the camera, the girl's face immediately turned ashen, as if water could drip from it.

The photos inside document the details of my life after returning home.

"We found this camera on a crooked tree not far from your house," Clark said, scratching his head as he explained the situation to Lana.

After hearing Clark's description, Lana stood frozen in place, like a stiff wooden statue.

Anger, resentment, fear—a complex mix of emotions overwhelmed Lana, causing her to burst into tears.

"Uh? La, Lana, don't cry."

Clark instinctively looked at Gino, hoping his good friend could give him some advice.

"Fool." Gino sighed inwardly. In this situation, what did the girl need? A strong and reliable hug, a safe haven where she could feel at ease.

Gino extended his right hand and gently nudged Clark's shoulder.

"Snapped!"

Clark stumbled and instinctively grabbed Lana.

"Hmm!"

Lana was startled when she felt the tall figure embrace her; her body tensed up, while Clark looked embarrassed and flustered.

Good heavens, this was the first time he had ever hugged Lana. Smelling the girl's pleasant, light perfume, Clark's cheeks flushed even more.

At this moment, Ginobili quietly delivered an assist:

"Sigh, I wonder how long that peeping tom was taking pictures."

Lana cried even harder now; such a thing would be a nightmare for anyone.

Lana hugged Clark and cried fiercely.

A rustling sound came from the woods behind him. Gino turned around and saw a shocked-looking Peter and Chloe covering her mouth.

"Uh, maybe we came at the wrong time?" Pete hesitated. He remembered that Lana had a boyfriend, but now she was hugging Clark.

Chloe, on the other hand, had a burning desire for gossip in her eyes, asking Gino what had happened.

Girls in high school are like Hollywood actresses, full of drama and conflict.

Lana may be popular with boys, but there are quite a few girls who dislike her, and Chloe is naturally one of the latter. She has always disliked Lana's pretentious and manipulative manner, thinking that the girl is quite pretentious.

Gino shrugged, walked over to Chloe, put his arm around both of them, and recounted what had happened.

After listening to Gino's story, Chloe looked at Lana with eyes full of sympathy.

Although I don't like Lana, she really has a tough life.

"Do you know who uses cameras on campus?" Gino asked Chloe, who, as the editor of the campus daily, was practically the town's know-it-all.

"Yes, with a camera."

Chloe ruffled her short, blond hair, as if doing so would help her think.

A memory flashed through Chloe's mind, and her eyes suddenly lit up. "I remember now, Gray once submitted a manuscript to me."

"He wanted to encourage everyone to cherish insects and appreciate their beauty, and he brought along a large number of insect photographs for this purpose."

Recalling the scene, Chloe couldn't help but feel a chill run down her spine.

"Grey?" Gino narrowed his eyes slightly, the short figure he had seen at the farmers' market flashing through his mind.

Does anyone know where he lives?

Gino plans to conduct an on-site inspection.

"I know," Little Black Pete raised his hand. "There's a shortcut not far from the Grey's house."

"Let's go, let's go to his house and take a look." Gino gestured for Peter to lead the way, then turned to Clark and the other man and called out, "You two, stop hugging, come with me to investigate the clues."

Upon hearing Gino's call, Clark reluctantly released Lana, who clearly realized that their behavior had been a bit too ambiguous.

The two blushed and followed Gino and his group, remaining silent amidst the anxious gazes of the others.
