Chapter 14 The Bet
Chapter 14 The Bet
Luther Castle.
In the dead of night, the castle lights cast a soft glow on the mottled brick walls.
Green moss covered the brick walls, and below, in the manor, several gardeners carried black body bags expressionlessly toward the castle's basement.
They are all lifelong employees of the Luther Group, with high salaries and good benefits. In other words, they can be considered as workers in the Luther "dynasty" with hereditary "official positions." They are tight-lipped and don't have to worry about betraying the company.
Inside the castle at this moment.
The ornate, vintage fireplace burned brightly, the firewood crackling and popping under the heat of the flames.
"So, he still died?" Lex leaned over the pool table, gently pushing the cue stick towards the ball.
"Smack."
After clearing the last billiard ball, Lex stood up and looked at Gino, who was lounging on the sofa enjoying the maid feeding him oranges.
"Mmm~" Gino bit into the orange, feeling the sweet and sour juice burst in his mouth, and mumbled, "That guy is too extreme. I don't think it's a good thing to let him live."
Lex shrugged. To his intelligence, there was a difference between living and dead test subjects, but it wasn't significant.
"Okay, but that Clark." Lex dropped the cue stick, picked up the expensive red wine on the table, took a sip, and then spat it out.
"That's right, that guy is also a superhuman." Gino shrugged. "In the future, his achievements may be as great as your intelligence, reaching a height that is unimaginable for humans."
"I didn't expect you to think so highly of him." Lex raised an eyebrow, feeling like he was the smartest person in the world, bar none.
"Because he saved your life, I gave him points." Gino rolled his eyes.
"Speaking of which," Lex scratched his bald head, "how do you think I should repay him?"
"Give him an expensive sports car? I remember high school students all like that."
But Lex had a headache. He said to himself, "I remember when I was a kid, my dad talked to the Kent family about buying their farm."
"Even with an exorbitant offer, the Kents did not agree."
For Lex, money wasn't the issue; rather, owing favors was more painful than killing him for such a proud person. Therefore, Lex couldn't wait to repay the life-saving favor he owed.
"I think we could let them accept the gift," Gino chuckled.
Lex frowned slightly, because Gino's expression was all too familiar.
Whenever this little brat shows that smiling expression, the next thing he says will definitely be a sarcastic remark.
"Want to make a bet?" Gino reached out and gently pressed his hand against the maid's red lips, leaving the orange juice on them. "I can get the Kent family to accept your gift."
The blonde, blue-eyed maid, very sensibly, gently stuck out her little tongue and gazed at Gino with seductive eyes, licking the orange juice from the corner of her mouth.
Lex crossed his arms, seemingly oblivious to Gino's harassment of the maid.
My younger brother seems unrestrained and wild, but he's actually a flirt who's not a scumbag; he's still a virgin.
Lex pondered to himself.
He was still quite curious whether what Gino said was true. He had met Jonathan before; he was righteous, stubborn, and had his own principles.
To put it nicely, he's principled; to put it bluntly, he's extremely stubborn, like a rock in a latrine—stinky and hard. And Gino actually said he had a way to get the Kent family to accept the gift.
Lex was skeptical.
"Alright, what are we betting on?" Lex sneered, completely unfazed.
"I'll bet you the contact information for those assassins on your phone." Gino revealed his true intentions.
"You want to kill someone? You can tell me who you want to kill." Lex frowned. To be honest, he didn't want Gino to get too close to those guys in the underworld.
"It's not murder, it's just that there are some things that need to be done by some people." Gino shook his head, without explaining further.
Actually, he was just curious whether his brother had the contact information for the famous assassins in the DC universe.
For example, the League of Assassins, or even the infamous Deathstroke.
Why are you curious?
Because these are all points earned through walking.
As a man born at the finish line of Rome, Gino is not a madman who wants to destroy or conquer the world. The education he received as an ordinary citizen of the Celestial Empire in his previous life also prevented him from becoming a scumbag, but his determination to become stronger remains unchanged.
There is no such thing as being strong, only getting stronger, and to become stronger, you need the negative emotions of the strong to provide points. That is Gino's logic.
Lex, standing nearby, frowned thoughtfully after hearing Gino's words, but the clever bald man nodded after a moment's thought:
"Okay, I believe you can handle these things. Let's make a bet."
As he spoke, Lex turned his head, his gaze fixed on the garage outside the window: "I think there's a Cadillac in the garage?"
It was a brand new day. When Gino opened his eyes and woke up on his three-meter-wide, soft bed, his obedient maids had already prepared breakfast.
After bringing the steaming hot food to the bed, Gino ate some seagull egg rolls with milk, silently criticizing the Ziben family's simple and unpretentious life.
After getting dressed, Gino picked up the Cadillac car keys from the table, said goodbye to Lex, and drove off to school.
While passing Kent Farm, Gino happened to run into Clark, who was waiting for the school bus.
However, Clark seemed to be in a bad mood, his face was full of gloom, as if someone owed him a million dollars.
As the car approached Clark, Gino heard the system announcement in his mind.
[Negative emotions from Clark Kent: +50, +50.]
"What's going on?" Gino was surprised. Clark's negative emotions had been flooding the system with gold coins early in the morning, but considering that this was a younger version of Clark Kent, he had some guesses in his mind.
Teenagers care about nothing more than three things: face, money, and girls.
These three things could all be reasons why Clark is in a bad mood.
Looking at Clark's dejected and downcast expression, Gino guessed that it was more likely the latter; the poor, innocent boy Clark might have suffered a setback in love.
Thinking this, Gino slammed on the gas pedal.
The roar of the red SUV interrupted Clark's thoughts. Last night, Clark, who routinely used binoculars to observe the goddess's movements, witnessed the goddess Lana Blue kissing Whitney, whose arm was in a cast. This made Clark feel very bad.
"Hey, Clark." Gino lightly applied the brakes, stopping the SUV in front of Clark, and patted the passenger seat with a flippant tug. "Waiting for the school bus again?"
Are you kidding me? This is a scoring machine in action. Do you think he would let Clark get away?
The red SUV stopped in front of Clark, and Gino turned off the engine and opened the car door.
"Here you go." Gino tossed the keys to Clark as he walked over.
"What?" Clark looked bewildered, his right hand instinctively taking the car keys that Gino tossed to him.
