Chapter 139 Lana's Graveyard Adventure

Chapter 139 Lana's Graveyard Adventure

The high school section of the small town.

Students got off the school bus and walked in twos and threes.

"So, you received a love letter?"

Chloe held the love letter Lana handed her and read it, her expression strange: "But finding this in a cemetery feels a bit creepy."

"It's alright." Lana shrugged, tilted her head, and smiled. "Receiving love letters is like a lost art to me."

Pete stood on tiptoe, looking at the envelope: "Do you know who wrote this?"

"I don't know, maybe it was some anonymous person."

As the three were talking, someone patted Pete on the shoulder.

Hey everyone, good morning!

Clark, with bruises around his eyes, greeted the group with an awkward smile.

However, the moment Lana heard Clark's voice, her smiling face turned cold, and she walked away quickly with a blank expression, clearly still resentful about Clark's behavior that day.

"Hey, Clark!"

Jesse suddenly appeared out of nowhere and blocked Clark's path: "What happened to the date? Big boy, I've been waiting for ages."

Pete gave Clark a "good luck" look, then walked away.

Clark was immediately at his wit's end.

If he could turn back time, he would never have chosen to buy that ring.

What have you gotten in return for buying this ring?

His pursuit of Lana had been progressing smoothly, but now it has stalled, and even his adoptive parents have been quite critical of his previous behavior these past few days.

After brushing Jesse off, Clark covered his forehead in frustration, feeling utterly distraught.

"If you need advice."

A strong arm wrapped around Clark's shoulder: "My advice is to have it all."

"Don't say that, Gino," Clark said, looking at his friend with a pained expression.

"What's wrong?" Gino winked at Clark. "Both ladies have their merits."

"Lovely Lana."

"Passionate Jesse"

Gino opened his palm and then clenched it slightly: "If I were you, I would take them all."

"And what about Chloe?" Clark stared into Gino's eyes, retorting defiantly, "Isn't she excellent?"

"But I never asked her out."

Clark remained silent. Well, it was indeed his fault; he had even asked Jesse out in front of Lana.

Feeling frustrated, Clark decided to stop thinking about it and consult Gino about his troubles.

Did you hear what was going on last night?

"I encountered a terrible enemy last night."

The two walked toward the classroom, talking as they went.

Gino suppressed a laugh and sat down in his seat: "That's really scary. So that's how you got your dark circles?"

"Yes, but I'm more worried about something else." Clark pointed to his own eyes, then looked into Gino's eyes: "You have them too, don't you?"

"What?"

"It's the ability to project heat from the eyes."

"So that's what you mean." Gino raised an eyebrow and nodded. "That's right, like you, I do possess thermal vision, but is there a problem with that?"

Hearing Gino's words, Clark was secretly pleased. Gino also possessed this ability, and perhaps he could get advice from him.

"That's how it is." Clark pursed his lips, recalling the scene from that night, and said with lingering guilt, "I discovered that I could emit terrifying rays of extremely destructive power from my eyes, but the problem is, I couldn't control its energy output."

To put it simply, it's like using an anti-aircraft gun to shoot down a mosquito—the output is uncontrollable.

"Yes, that is indeed a problem, but there are solutions." Gino thought for a moment: "I've encountered that situation before, but with more practice, you can control the output power."

The boy patted Clark on the shoulder and said, "Just like driving, practice makes perfect."

"My suggestion is to go to your farm and find a scarecrow or something to practice your skills until you can easily master it."

"There's one more thing."

Gino picked up the pen on the table and twirled it around, saying casually, "I saw Lana at the cemetery last night."

She must be visiting her parents.

Clark sighed. As a devoted admirer of the goddess, the boy knew that Lana's parents' deaths were related to the meteor shower he brought on the day he landed on Earth.

Therefore, Clark felt guilty towards Lana, because if it weren't for him, perhaps Lana's parents wouldn't have died.

"Then, he found a love letter to her at his parents' graves."

Gino, grinning, watched Clark with amusement, propping his chin up and stirring up trouble, saying, "Hmm, a love letter suddenly appearing in the cemetery, and then thinking about the strange things that often happen in this town..."

Before Gino could finish speaking, Clark couldn't sit still any longer and jumped to his feet.

"Lana might be in danger!"

Putting aside his thermal vision practice, Clark turned to look behind him.

Lana was sitting with Chloe, and she was holding a crumpled piece of paper in her hand.

Clark's eyes easily pierced through the white envelope, and when he saw the contents of the letter, his expression turned even more grim.

"So, what are you planning to do?" Chloe nudged Lana's arm.

"It's simple." Lana pursed her lips. "I plan to wait at the cemetery tonight. I want to know who that person is."

"A graveyard adventure." Chloe chewed on her pen. "Maybe this makes for good newspaper material. Count me in!"

The night breeze blew through the cemetery, causing the wind chimes to tinkle.

The rusty brass wind chimes emitted a crisp "ding-a-ling" sound.

The scent of grass, trees, and soil permeates the cemetery with the airflow, giving people a sense of warmth and connection with nature.

But the towering tombstones disrupted this feeling.

Cemetery, tombstone, corpse, death, dissolution.

People always like to fill in the blanks with their imaginations; when they see certain things, they tend to imagine even more related things.

"To be honest, I regret wearing so little." Chloe rubbed her arms, and after feeling warm for a moment, she placed the bouquet of flowers in front of Lana's parents' gravestone.

Lana knelt down, brushing the fallen leaves from the tombstone, and asked her companion somewhat casually, "Do you think he'll show up?"

Chloe, going along with Lana's thoughts, said, "Probably."

"If a boy falls in love with a girl, he will always stick with it instead of giving up halfway."

Time ticked by, and apart from the night wind that felt like sharp blades against my skin, the only other thing was the eerie hooting of the owl.

"Ugh, it's so cold."

Chloe huddled with her arms crossed, shivering. The cemetery was located in a remote and sparsely populated area, and the nighttime temperature dropped, making the soil damp and the air cold and damp, which was unbearable.

"Well, it seems we won't be able to wait that long."

Before Lana could finish speaking, a rustling sound came from the bushes not far away.

"Someone's there!"

Lana stood up and bravely rushed toward the bushes.

Under the bright moonlight, she saw a figure dressed in white staggering away from the cemetery.

"Hey! Wait, don't run away!" Lana called out, "I just want to talk to you."
