Are you looking for me?
In the pitch-black night, a voice seemed to echo right next to Batman's ear.
A jumble of thoughts flooded my mind.
The raised finger and the gun gesture.
The tormenting environment suffered in that labyrinth.
All the unbearable, painful, and sad memories violently flooded Batman's mind.
Breathing, breathing, Batman kept adjusting his breathing to keep himself calm.
He turned to look behind him, and it seemed as if the night sky was cheering on the fight: a muffled thunderclap boomed in the night, followed by a string of blue lightning illuminating the night.
Batman keenly spotted a figure wearing an owl mask in the dense forest not far away.
Why would the other party be here?
Could he be hiding in this small town?
Batman considered various theories, but quickly dismissed them because there was another possibility: that guy had been monitoring him all along and had followed him to the town.
A white mask paired with a sharp white suit, his over two-meter-tall frame wouldn't be overlooked even if he stood quietly in a corner.
"Splash!"
After the thunder and lightning comes the wind and rain.
The torrential rain poured down, and countless water droplets slanted down like a curtain.
It nourishes the earth and sustains all things.
Raindrops pattered on Batman's armor, making a "drip-drip" sound on his steel arm.
Beneath the mask, his eyes were fixed intently on the figure in the rain.
It was a strange sight, like Moses parting the sea, with raindrops all around scattering as if they were subjects paying homage to a king.
There wasn't a single water stain on the white suit.
The masked man tilted his head slightly and chuckled, "Have you found the truth about your parents' deaths, Batman?"
A simple sentence, yet it was like a sharp arrow piercing Batman's strong heart.
His composure shattered, rage consuming his reason. Batman released Clark, whose cheek was red from the blows, and stood up angrily. He stared intently at the masked man, his tone laced with a hint of gritted teeth: "What do you know about their deaths?!"
Batman was trying his best to suppress his anger, but Gino, behind the mask, could see Batman's emotions at that moment.
If you were to ask what could disturb Batman's mind, it would undoubtedly be the death of his parents.
In some comics, Batman devised tactics against different superheroes, while regarding himself, he said, "He used the death of his parents to disrupt their minds as much as possible."
Judging from the current results, the effectiveness is remarkable.
A cold laugh came from behind the mask. Gino shook his head slightly and wagged his finger: "I remember telling you that next time I'd make you even stronger, Batman."
"but."
The masked man glanced pityingly at the shattered armor in the corner, seemingly genuinely regretting Batman's actions, and said, "Look what you've created? A pile of junk, and you even managed to defeat a young kid in a pathetic manner."
Gino couldn't even imagine Batman in this state colliding with the Joker at his peak; it would be a terrifying disaster.
"Fuck you!" Clark, his eyes bloodshot from the fumes, sprang to his feet, glaring hatefully at Batman. But the sudden appearance of the Mystic diverted Clark's anger, and he roared at the masked man, "I'm not defeated!"
"But you, you cowardly coward."
Clark clenched his fist, a terrifying force shaking the rain: "I'll blast your mask off and expose your true identity!"
Gino stretched out his palm, looked up at the raindrops splashing beautifully on the bio-field: "Is that so? Then prove to me that you have the ability."
In the rain, Gino’s nonchalant and lazy demeanor successfully angered Clark.
"Teenagers are in that awkward, boastful age when they're all trying to save face and be heroes," Clark roared.
With a powerful thrust of his legs, he shattered the ground beneath his feet, leaving two cracked mud pits.
The terrifying momentum propelled Clark toward the masked man like a bolt of lightning.
The heavy rain was also broken up at an extremely fast speed, with water splashing everywhere.
Because of its incredible speed, the surrounding scenery seemed to swirl backward like a light curtain. Clark raised his iron fist, gathering power in his knuckles, aiming at the mask on the man in the suit, determined to smash the mask to pieces.
The hundred-meter distance was covered in an instant. Just as Clark's fist was about to strike the mask in a fraction of a second, the mysterious man raised his hand and snapped his fingers.
*Smack!*
The friction between the thumb and middle finger creates a cavity resonance, producing a crisp snapping sound that echoes through the night.
The next moment, Clark opened his mouth in surprise as he saw everything around him slowing down.
Raindrops hung suspended in mid-air.
The body, which had been running at high speed, seemed to sink into a heavy swamp, moving slowly.
If Clark's previous running speed was like lightning, then now he's even slower than a tortoise.
Clark discovers a frustrating reality: he can now only control the movement of his eyeballs.
He saw the mysterious man simply take a step back and retreat from the attack range.
Then, the man raised his hand, his thumb gently pressing on the nail of his middle finger and bending slightly.
*Smack!*
A loud slap landed on Clark's forehead.
One second, two seconds.
As three seconds passed, the immense force accumulated in the middle finger suddenly erupted.
"Bang!"
Like a golf ball struck by a club, the muscular Clark streaked across the sky with a graceful motion, before crashing heavily to the ground, splashing up a cloud of mud and dust.
Gino lowered his hand, and time and space, which had been almost frozen, began to flow again.
"Splash!"
The rain poured down, accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Everything seemed to have returned to normal, but in Batman's eyes, Clark simply vanished in an instant and crashed into the ground again, creating a deep crater.
"Cough cough cough!"
A coughing sound came from the deep pit, and then an arm gently emerged from the pit.
Covered in mud, Clark, looking as if he had been pulled out of cement, crawled out of the pit in a disheveled state.
His handsome face was covered in mud, and his once expensive clothes were now filthy.
Those emerald eyes held boundless fury.
Since birth, Clark's parents have warned him to use his abilities carefully and not to hurt others.
Clark also struggled with his differences.
But amidst the distress, a sense of pride and self-satisfaction also arose in my heart.
He is stronger than ordinary people; he can do things that ordinary people cannot.
Deep down, Clark always believed he was the best.
Until the white-masked man standing in the rain shattered his pride with a flick on the forehead.
It turns out, there really are people who are stronger than me.
However, despite recognizing his shortcomings, anger still drove Clark to act.
"You will pay the price for this!"
Clark's eyes lit up with a red light, and the intense heat around his eyes instantly melted the mud, turning it into dried mud lumps.
The masked man scoffed, "Oh, I'm so scared."
Batman had retreated to a corner at some point, silently observing the two and gathering intelligence.
"Die!" Clark stopped wasting words and activated his newly acquired Berserk Heat Vision, unleashing a terrifyingly high-temperature attack on the mysterious man.
"Will it work?"
The mysterious man tilted his head slightly, and then, the eyes beneath the mask slowly lit up with an icy blue light, which reflected in the raindrops and shone with iridescent colors.
War is imminent.
