Chapter 10 Genome's Revenge
Chapter 10 Genome's Revenge
Kent Farm.
The two policemen left the farm without any clues, and took statements from several people, but the final results were somewhat unsatisfactory.
Just as Clark said, it was as if it were a paranormal event.
Clark followed his father, Jonathan, back into the house.
"What happened?" Jonathan's wife, Martha, Clark's adoptive mother, looked at the father and son with concern. "I heard the police talking about a school conflict. Clark, did you get into a fight with your classmates?"
Clark shook his head: "No, it wasn't me, Mom, I didn't fight."
Jonathan seized the opportunity to speak up: "So who broke Whitney's arm, Clark? I can see the guilt in your eyes."
As the son he raised, Jonathan was very familiar with Clark's micro-expressions.
"And why do you associate with the Luther family?" Jonathan rubbed his forehead, looking a bit annoyed. "The Luther family are all sophisticated selfish people and insidious bastards."
"Jonathan!" Martha glanced at her husband with some displeasure. "You can't use those words to comment on someone you've never even met."
"No, the opposite is true." Jonathan shook his head, his gaze falling on Clark. "This afternoon, when I went to town to buy groceries, I ran into Lana's aunt. She told me about that Luther family's youngest son, who was speeding with Clark this morning and almost crashed into a school bus!"
"But it didn't hit it, Father. Gino was confident." Clark raised his head and subconsciously retorted. He had witnessed Gino's terrifying reaction speed; dodging the school bus was as easy as breathing for him.
"Gino," Jonathan repeated the name, "Your new friend is named Gino Luther, right?"
Jonathan shook his head, a headache forming in his eyes. "But this behavior is undoubtedly disregarding the safety of others; it's insane, Clark."
"If possible, I hope you stay away from that guy."
Even without ever having met him, Jonathan could deduce Gino's personality from his behavior in the town: an extremely indifferent attitude towards strangers.
He didn't want Clark to associate with people like that and be influenced to become an irresponsible guy.
"Yeah, you always tell me what to do?" Clark said, head down, his face full of impatience. He raised his fingers to criticize his father's discipline.
"You can't participate in rugby games or running."
Clark looked up defiantly: "I've been trying so hard to be a normal person, Father, but now even choosing my friends has to be up to you?"
"Clark, that's not what I meant."
Jonathan tried to explain, but Clark didn't want to listen. He stood up and went upstairs without touching the food on his plate.
Jonathan.
Jonathan's wife, Martha, gripped his shoulders and said reproachfully, "You're too controlling."
Jonathan sighed, his expression complex, and said, "I know, but I'm more afraid that he won't be able to control his abilities from being exposed to the world."
on Tuesday.
early morning.
Gino and Lex said goodbye; one went to high school, while the other planned to inspect the Luther family's chemical plant in town.
Lex drove his bright blue sports car at high speed along the country road, with the GG signs and bushes on both sides of the road rushing past the car windows.
"Give me a cigarette." Lex gripped the steering wheel with one hand and reached into his pocket with the other, intending to light a cigarette to relax.
"Bang!"
A loud bang came from not far away. Lex looked up and saw a thin young man suddenly standing in the middle of the road, giving him a strange smile.
"Your time has come, Lex!"
The young man raised his hands, and instantly countless electric currents covered his arms.
"Drink!"
The young man let out a low shout, and a thick, python-like current struck the tires of the sports car.
Thud, thud!
The tires burst, and the sports car lost control, crashing into the roadside at an extremely high speed.
"Oh, shit!"
Lex jerked the steering wheel, but the sports car still went out of control and crashed into the guardrail beside the road bridge.
"Whoosh!"
The broken iron railings plunged into the icy river along with the sports car.
At the same moment Lex fell into the lake, Clark, who was traveling at super speed, happened to be passing by on the road not far away.
He witnessed a man crackling electricity with his fingers blast a sports car into a lake, then flee the scene of the murder at breakneck speed.
"I have to save people."
Clark stopped and plunged into the lake without hesitation, swimming towards the bottom.
Inside the sports car at this moment,
Dark, gloomy, and oppressive – that was Lex's first impression.
Countless drops of lake water flowed in through the gaps in the car doors, turning the once-expensive sports car into a deadly water trap.
"Mmm!"
Lex poured lake water into his mouth and nose, and when he struggled to open his eyes, he could only see a blurry, indistinct mass.
After choking on several mouthfuls of lake water, the inability to breathe caused Lex's vision to gradually blur. In the midst of this blurring, he seemed to see a figure slowly swimming towards him.
"Thump!"
Clark leaped into the water, breaking through the lake like a torpedo, and swam to the front of the car.
Clark glanced at Lex, who had passed out inside the car due to choking on water and lack of oxygen, then reached out and grabbed the roof, tearing it open with tremendous force, revealing a large hole.
Clark reached out and grabbed Lex by the collar, pulling him out of the lake.
Clark laid the unconscious Lex flat on the grass by the lake and bent down to listen to Lex's heartbeat.
With a faint heartbeat, Clark didn't hesitate. He pried open Lex's mouth and began to give him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation using the first aid knowledge he had learned from his father, Jonathan, when he was a child.
"Don't die, hold on!"
Following first aid knowledge, Clark helped Lex breathe while pressing on Lex's chest with both hands.
With Clark pressing down on him repeatedly, the unconscious Lex soon opened his mouth and spat out a large mouthful of lake water.
Upon seeing Lex awaken, Clark's face showed a relieved expression.
"Cough cough cough!"
Lex coughed violently as he awoke. He slowly opened his eyes and saw a young, innocent face.
"You saved me?" Lex looked up at Clark.
"Yes, you look like you need help. I saw a strange guy attack you." Clark frowned as he recounted what he had seen earlier, the figure that had suddenly appeared.
"That's right, it was a premeditated murder." Lex smiled calmly, but in his heart he remembered Gino's warning last night. Perhaps the guy who attacked him just now was Genomi, who had suddenly disappeared and gained superpowers not long ago.
Smallville High School.
In the corridor, Gino carried his schoolbag on his back with one hand and put the other hand in his pocket, ignoring the strange looks from his classmates as he walked toward the classroom.
"Beep beep".
Gino picked up the phone and pressed the answer button.
Clark's voice came through the phone: "Gino, your brother's fallen into the water!"
