Chapter 61 Do You Want to Be a Hero?

Murphy got the name of a drug dealer, "Osson Savage," and an address, and the thugs ran away in a panic.

The man on the ground got up, and to Murphy's surprise, he was a rather strong and tall man, and he was even holding a kitten in his arms.

Was this guy beaten up because he was protecting his cat?

He has the physique of Schwarzenegger, but is a soft-hearted cat lover.

"Osson's just a small fry," the man suddenly said. "He's not the worst guy in this area."

"Oh?"

Murphy didn't expect to get any useful clues from the thugs right away. He just planned to find the worst guy step by step. However, this guy seemed to know something.

"Who's the worst guy?"

The cat lover didn't reply, but simply shook his head and left, abandoning Murphy.

He walked with one foot that was not very flexible, and he seemed to be lame.

Murphy rolled his eyes. "Legacy of Mind!"

A moment later, Murphy gasped.

Wow, this guy has quite a lot of experience.

Boris Peshkov.

Born in the East End, with a father who was a Russian mafia member and a mother who was a prostitute, he did not succumb to this environment. Instead, he relied on his intelligence to get into Cambridge and became a certified public accountant after graduation.

However, this guy was too dedicated. When auditing the financial statements of a large company, he discovered major fraud. Not only did he not sign the audit report, but he also submitted the evidence of fraud to the judicial authorities.

What he didn't know was that the company's investor was actually a drug lord, and many of the company's businesses were just a cover for him to launder money.

In the end, the other party threw out a few scapegoats to take the blame and got away with it. At the same time, they colluded with the law firm to frame him for issuing false reports and make him jointly liable, causing him to lose everything and incur hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt.

When he was left to wander the streets, the drug lord had him severely beaten and his legs broken.

If he hadn't been in good physical condition, he would have lost his life.

"So, that villain's name is Yitzhak Milburn?"

"What...what did you just do?"

Boris was terrified. The feeling of having his entire life's memories flipped through like a book was too horrifying. The other person was like a demon from legend.

"You want revenge?" Murphy glanced at the other man's thick arms. "Building up is a good idea, but you're just a cripple. With that, you're unlikely to get revenge."

After his initial shock subsided, Boris shook his head. "No. I don't want revenge."

After saying that, he continued to carry his cat and left.

Murphy was a little confused. The Legilimency had lasted for quite a while, and Boris had been resisting fiercely, so he didn't increase the intensity, lest he drive Boris crazy.

But he did feel an extreme anger when reading the other person's memories, which was completely different from Boris's current dejected appearance.

This guy is interesting.

……

The strange boy had disappeared sometime earlier. Boris, who had wanted to warn him not to provoke Yzak, thought about the boy's peculiar abilities and could only shake his head and leave with the cat.

He walked two blocks, slipping two crumpled bills from his pocket to an old homeless man, and then came to an old apartment building and knocked on the door of a second-floor resident.

After a while, the door opened, and an old lady appeared. Boris handed the cat he was holding to her.

The cat wasn't his.

The two talked for a while. The other person was Mrs. Hampton, Boris's landlady. They had a good relationship. Boris tidied up the old lady's room before returning to his own place.

It was a very small studio apartment, and the facilities were old and worn out, but it was kept very clean.

After a simple meal, he started exercising. He didn't have any gym equipment, so he could only exercise by doing push-ups, pull-ups, squats, and the like.

His leg was injured, making each squat very difficult, but he still managed to do more than thirty.

Then, he opened a wardrobe.

He pushed aside the few shirts he had, revealing the newspaper clippings wall on the wardrobe shelf.

The clippings consisted of two main parts: one was about the whereabouts of the president of Milburn Trading Company, and the other was about the investigation of the disappearances of some girls. At the center of those clippings was a 19-year-old girl named Mariana Hampton.

"I see."

A voice suddenly sounded behind Boris, startling him so much that he immediately turned around and saw the strange boy from before standing behind him.

"Marianna, what a beautiful girl. Is she your girlfriend?"

"You, how could you...?"

Boris was shocked. When did this person come into his room?

"Are you a human or a ghost?"

"Whether I'm human or ghost doesn't matter. What matters is who you are and what you want to do?"

Boris was silent for a moment, hesitated, and finally sighed, "Marianna is my sister."

"My mother gave birth to her and then sent her to live with her mother, Mrs. Hampton. I only found out about this sister a few years ago. Mrs. Hampton is actually my maternal grandmother, but she didn't know that."

"I've only met Mariana a few times. She's different from me; she's very cheerful and innocent. When I told her about our relationship, she was very happy. She said she always felt very lonely and that it felt good to have an older brother."

"That's what I think too."

"Two months ago, I was framed and left with a mountain of debt. When I returned here, Mariana had already disappeared."

"I investigated for a long time before I found a clue. She may have been trafficked to another country, or even, she may already be dead."

Murphy glanced at the clippings. "So, it was Yitzhak Milburn who did it?"

"Yes, he's the head of the biggest gang in the entire East District. He's involved in drug trafficking, murder, human trafficking, and all sorts of evil deeds. I have every reason to suspect he did it. The other missing girls are also connected to him. I have some evidence, but I can't convict him. Many people have taken his money, and few prosecutors or lawyers dare to go against him."

"So, you're planning to take revenge yourself?"

Boris was silent for a moment, then said, "At the very least, I need to know Marianne's whereabouts."

"But given your current condition, you'd probably be riddled with bullets the moment you stormed into his lair."

Boris sighed. "You're right. I investigated his movements extensively and devised numerous plans, but none of them succeeded. He's cautious; he knows many people want him dead, so he's always surrounded by a dozen bodyguards. I simply couldn't get close to him."

He then looked at Murphy and asked, "Can you help me? Can you help me?"

"With your abilities, obtaining evidence would be extremely easy!"

"I beg you, help me! Whether you're a superhero, an alien, or a devil, please help me! I need to find Marianna. If she's still alive, I must rescue her. If she's dead... I will avenge her!"

Murphy laughed. "Guess what? You've hit the jackpot."

"However, it's rather pointless to let others get involved in this," Murphy said, taking a test tube out of his pocket.

Do you want to be a hero?
