Chapter 435 The Strings of Time

Murphy knew of two locations that directly connected to the spirit world: one was the Gate of Rebirth beneath Alkaid, which had now lost its connection to the spirit world, and the other was the Chamber of Secrets at Hogwarts.

Because it is connected to the spirit world, the rules of spacetime here are more relaxed, and theoretically, less magical energy is needed for time travel here.

After the previous battle, the secret chamber has almost completely collapsed, but the chaotic rifts in spacetime still exist. If one accidentally steps into it, one may fall into the spirit world or get trapped in a time loop.

It was precisely because of this continued danger that Hogwarts moved its students out of the area.

After stepping through the gate, Murphy found a relatively stable spiritual rift, broke the seal that Dumbledore had set up, and stepped inside.

The thick fog of the spirit world engulfed him, but Murphy ignored it, took out the Time Box, and decided to give it a try.

Traveling through a thousand years is unprecedented, and Murphy was only inferring this possibility in theoretical calculations.

Because it requires the energy of almost all magic nodes, the massive energy torrent is difficult for even him to fully control. He sensed that he might not have many more opportunities to try, so before embarking on the millennium journey, he needed to test the feasibility of time travel in the spirit world.

He first tried communicating with magical nodes around the world through the mind network to test the stability of the connection. He found that although the spirit world had isolated him from other people's mental connections, the connection between him and those magical nodes had actually been strengthened.

"The theory of the spiritual origin of magic," Murphy muttered to himself.

This is a hypothesis proposed by the Magic Research Institute regarding the nature of magic, suggesting that the original source of magic is actually the spirit world.

In this theory, the spirit world is like a high-potential dam, and whether it is a magic network node, a god, or a wizard, due to their special characteristics, they all make holes in the spirit world dam, and magic power flows into the mortal world through these holes.

If this theory is correct, then being in the spirit world would actually make it easier for magic to flow.

Then he gripped the Time Box tightly, channeled his magic into it, and the time converter inside the box spun rapidly backward. In an instant, he vanished from his spot.

……

Ten days ago, in London.

"Restored to its original condition!"

Murphy struggled to repair the time converter that Gungnir had destroyed, and his pierced heart was restored to its original state during the time reversal. Gungnir was pulled out of his heart by the power of time and dragged away by four meters.

However, the magic required to repair the time converter was too great. Murphy's magic was only enough to rewind less than half a second. At that moment, the cracks on the time converter suddenly widened and shattered again with a snap.

Gungnir, frozen in time, strikes again.

But at that moment, accompanied by a thick fog from the spirit world, another Murphy suddenly appeared between the spear and him.

Almost instantly, Murphy realized when he had been transported back to where and when. With a thought, he used the Time Box to freeze time.

Then, he grabbed the spear and once again used his magic to activate the Time Box. The mist of the spirit world, along with the spear, vanished in an instant.

Murphy originally intended to return to the secret room, but after looking around, he realized that he couldn't recognize where he was at all.

Thick fog still swirled around him, making it seem like he was in the spirit world, but it was not similar to the previous secret chamber, and the spear had disappeared.

Murphy frowned, and then he understood.

Time and space are disordered in the spirit world. He just reversed time, but space was also altered. This must be due to this characteristic of the spirit world.

And this is probably why Gungnir, the divine spear, has disappeared; it has become lost in the spirit world.

He tried communicating with the magic nodes again, then breathed a sigh of relief. The magic nodes were still responding, and he could still mobilize the power of the entire magic network.

This time, he dared not experiment lightly again, but reassessed the current situation and calculated the possible impact of the spacetime disorder effect in the spirit world.

"The magical power required for time travel in the spirit world can be reduced by at least half, and the fluctuations of spacetime turbulence are negligible on a millennium scale. Overall, the success rate of time travel in the spirit world is still much higher than in the mortal world."

With that thought in mind, he no longer hesitated. He connected with hundreds of magical nodes around the world in his mind, and the magical energy gathered through ritual devices built outside the nodes and was transmitted to Murphy through the mental network.

In an instant, he felt as if he had mastered boundless power, a power that was enough to fill the seas, raise mountains, change the course of rivers, and even reverse magnetic poles, causing earth-shattering changes to the entire world.

However, such immense power is extremely difficult to control. As more and more magical nodes are added, the ritual devices are constantly collapsing. Even the most powerful magical metals cannot withstand such magnificent magical power for long.

Murphy himself couldn't hold on for long either. He didn't dare delay and immediately poured all his magic into the Time Box.

The time-shifting pointer in the Pandora's Box immediately began to move backward rapidly. In an instant, Murphy seemed to enter a time tunnel, where everything around him was flowing away into the distance. He felt a strange power flowing through his body, a power that seemed to be erasing the matter that made up his body and then making it reappear in another space-time.

However, the upheaval caused by traveling through a thousand years was too profound for the material world, and the magical power required was too enormous. The Time Box seemed unable to withstand such a massive amount of magical power, and it began to vibrate violently. Wisps of golden light emanated from the Time Box, and in an instant, all the devices on the outside of the box turned into particles and dissipated in that light.

Even the time converter inside the Pandora's Box, which was the best and most durable one Murphy could find, was now riddled with cracks.

Golden liquid seeped out from the cracks, gradually melting the pocket watch case of the converter, leaving only two hands and the layers of gold rings that made up the dial. At this moment, those rings were melting one by one. As the last ring melted, the hands suddenly stopped turning, and then boundless brilliance radiated from the molten gold-like liquid. The next moment, it exploded with a bang.

Suddenly, Murphy seemed to have traversed a thousand worlds.

He leaped through chaotic spacetime. One moment he was standing in front of a skyscraper, the next he was in a gladiatorial arena. The scenes around him were changing at a rate of thousands of frames per second. Even with his extraordinary vision, he could only see a chaotic stream of seven colors.

But at the heart of all this chaos, the golden liquid seemed to have solidified, slowly scattering outwards.

Without thinking twice, he grabbed the clump of liquid in his hand.

He had brought several spare time converters in case of an emergency, but at this moment all the magic was connected to the current time converter, and a temporary switch was no longer possible. He could only try his best to salvage the situation.

The moment he grasped that molten gold, something within him seemed to be activated, connecting him with the power of time within that droplet.

Similar to when he repaired the time converter during his battle with Odin, Murphy once again felt a sense of stagnation, as if he were going against the current, with a huge resistance between heaven and earth making it difficult for him to move forward.

However, unlike last time, he now has a massive amount of magical energy to support him.

The golden liquid gradually seeped into his skin, turning his entire right hand a golden color. At this moment, his mental network was operating at full capacity, gathering all the magical energy at the fingertips of his right hand.

In that instant, he felt as if he had touched a string on a musical instrument. With a slight thought, he gently plucked it.

The field of vision suddenly shrank, then brightened considerably.

He instinctively closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, he was standing outside a huge castle in the mountains.

A muddy road stretched from his feet to the magnificent city gate. People dressed in tattered clothes, looking like beggars, pushed carts and carried baskets along the filthy road. Everyone looked as if they hadn't bathed in years.

Everyone was hunched over and had their heads down. No one noticed his arrival. A gaunt man carrying a basket bumped into him. When he looked up and saw him, he immediately knelt down in fright and begged for mercy in Old English.

Murphy glanced at the flag flying above the castle, which depicted a longsword diagonally stuck in a stone, painted in white.

He pulled the serf to his feet and asked, "Where is this? Whose land is this?"

"My lord," the man stammered in panic. Murphy's demeanor was so extraordinary that he must be a nobleman. Fearing he might offend him, he knelt down again with a thud. "My lord, this is Camelot City, and the lord here is the great Knight King, Arthur Pendragon."
