The battle that ended in Chapter 81
The battle that ended in Chapter 81
When a wizard uses dark magic to harm or kill a sentient being, he receives a strange response. This is described in both Voldemort's works and some dark magic books.
After the Dark Guardian killed that person, Owen felt a tingling, electric shock-like sensation deep within his body, followed by a sudden explosion of strange excitement and satisfaction. His mind felt as if it had been freed from its shackles, like a bird released from its cage, with nothing left to restrain it.
Owen rationally understood that something was wrong with this feeling, but he couldn't help but chuckle softly. Under the influence of the Dark Guardian, a cutting-edge dark magic that was extremely close to one's own mind, the feedback he received seemed particularly pronounced.
The only door in front of him that he could leave was suddenly pushed open, and two guards in black robes rushed in. There were probably more people outside waiting for Owen to come out and walk into their trap.
He chanted an explosion spell over the two people who had just entered, abruptly stopped, and then slipped into the shelving unit on the right, no longer insisting on running out.
Another bloodcurdling scream rang out as the Dark Guardian easily dispatched the second person. These vicious dark wizards were like helpless chicks in the face of this creation of cutting-edge dark magic. At the same time, the black mist swirling around the Dark Guardian grew even thicker, and the chilling malice it exuded deepened.
Owen glanced at it as if sensing something, then suddenly a smile crept onto his lips, his dark eyes cold and unfathomable. His heart pounded, yet felt colder than ever before. In this moment, he finally understood and accepted this evil yet loyal creation.
It was as if he had reconciled with another side of himself, or as if it were a strange fusion. Owen felt that the Dark Guardian had become another version of himself, an unconscious version of himself that was completely under his control.
No longer needing to expend any energy commanding, the Dark Guardian understood Owen's thoughts. It moved with incredible agility through the firelight, causing the surrounding dark wizards to flee in panic. But capable of shifting between reality and illusion, it still passionately embraced one person, gently binding their body, then violently dragging out a milky-white phantom—a living soul!
This was an ability the Dark Guardians had never displayed before, but as Voldemort said, you have to truly accept it. Now Owen knew.
The phantom was the appearance of a man, silently struggling and screaming within the black mist. As the Black Mage guards danced through the air, it was initially a warm, milky white, but quickly turned cold and transparent, finally vanishing completely from the world. At the same time, the Black Wizard, who had collapsed and was convulsing, also stopped breathing.
However, Irving could sense that the soul had not been destroyed; it had simply gone from life to death to where the dead belonged.
He continued his journey through the darkness and flames with an indifferent expression. The dark wizards, intimidated by the Dark Guardian's power, became hesitant and restrained. The Dark Guardian, meanwhile, moved silently like a giant bat, darting towards its next target, spreading despair and fear with unbridled abandon.
For a moment, no one on Irving's side dared to continue the pursuit.
"Despair, wail, weep, and then die..." Owen said with a grin. "That sounds like something a villain would say? That's not my style..."
"Perhaps I should say, in the name of the moon, I will destroy you?" He pointed his wand at a hapless man lying on the ground, caught in the blast spell and groaning while clutching his legs, and coldly uttered, "Crush to pieces."
Without looking at the body, Owen turned to the darkness to his side. The red-haired woman was limping out, leaning on a shelf. Her equally deep red eyes glanced at Owen blankly, then turned to the corpse on the ground with hatred and glee.
"Who are you?" she asked weakly, opening her mouth. "Are you here to save me?"
Owen glanced at her closely; the woman's face was covered in blood, making it impossible to discern her features. He kicked the wand from the corpse's hand to the woman's feet and said coldly, "Only you can save yourself."
As soon as he finished speaking, three figures emerged from between the shelves on the other side. The group met face to face, and Owen's wand, which was the first to react, suddenly emitted an extremely dazzling burst of light.
The sudden burst of bright light in the darkness blinded everyone. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Owen rolled away to the other side with his eyes closed, feeling several spells whizzing past him.
When the bright light faded, he opened his eyes, and the three people opposite him were clearly still not recovered from the blinding effect of the light. He took the opportunity to point his wand at one of them, his hand trembling slightly as he gripped the wand, his heart surging with malice and murderous intent.
Fortunately, Irving hadn't lost his mind. He recognized the man as his target, Carter, and the spell he was about to utter instantly changed: "Faint!"
The red light shooting from the wand struck Carter, knocking him unconscious without a sound. Robert, who was beside him, could not see clearly yet, but he still loudly chanted the Killing Charm at the open space in front of him, and a blinding green light blasted a huge crater in the ground.
The red-haired woman suddenly lunged forward, grabbing the wand from the ground, and screamed at Robert, "Shatter to pieces!"
Robert nimbly dodged, rolling into the darkness on the other side. The Shattering Curse struck another dark wizard standing behind him, ending his life instantly.
Irving followed Robert into the darkness, chanting to the figure quickly rising to his feet, "Crushing Bone!"
Amidst the other's piercing screams of agony, Owen chuckled and said softly, "So you're the only one who knows the Unforgivable Curse, huh?"
Robert's hood slipped off as he struggled, revealing a gaunt face with his mouth agape in agony and bloodshot eyes that looked as if they were about to pop out of their sockets.
Owen tilted his head, savoring the other's wails and struggles, a leisurely smile playing on his lips. A tingling, numbing sensation coursed through him, and the savagery within him surged uncontrollably. The piercing screams quickly began to sound almost melodious. Then, his reason told him this was no time to waste. He narrowed his eyes, pointed his wand at the agonizing figure, and coldly chanted, "Avada Kedavra!"
A green flash illuminated the darkness, and the screams abruptly ceased. Owen stepped out of the darkness, a slight smile playing on his lips, his heart filled with an indescribable excitement and a hint of sly schadenfreude. He then realized that the red-haired woman was gone, and the occasional sounds of battle and clamor had also stopped. He glanced at the Black Demon Guard that gracefully floated towards him, smiled, and gently stroked it before putting it back.
"Quickly revive him." After casting a revival spell on the unconscious Carter lying on the ground, Owen cast the Imperius Curse again before the man was fully awake. Without the interference of another Imperius Curse, the control went very smoothly this time.
"Clap, clap, clap..." A slow clapping sound drifted from afar. A figure draped in a black cloak strolled over leisurely, admiring the surrounding scenery for a moment before saying with a playful tone, "Well done, Owen."
"Professor, when did you arrive?" Owen tilted his head.
"Earlier," Voldemort said leisurely, his eyes beneath his hood scrutinizing him with interest, "I dealt with some guards trying to rush in, and ended up watching a good show from outside the door."
"You seemed to be having a lot of fun, so I didn't want to bother you," he said jokingly. "How's it going?"
Owen looked down at his still slightly trembling hands, then touched the wand in his hand, and suddenly broke into an incredibly bright smile: "I feel... better than ever before."
Voldemort nodded slightly, listening to the approaching commotion outside, and chuckled, "We should leave."
Owen waved his wand, controlling the two people he had cast the Imperius Curse on, and made them recite the incantation.
Standing respectfully beside him, Carter pointed his wand at the ceiling, muttering a long string of strange incantations. As the incantation was finished, a beam of platinum light shot out from the wand, merging with two other beams in mid-air before exploding with a deafening roar.
The tent shook violently, followed by a cacophony of screams erupting from within. Suddenly, countless rips appeared in the tent, and figures were flung out like spinning tops, crashing into the silent crowd of the black market.
Voldemort grabbed Owen's arm and flew into the air. The two watched as the tent rapidly folded and shrank, eventually becoming a large black box about half a person's height.
Amidst gasps and roars, Voldemort calmly grabbed one end of the box. The pre-set Portkey activated on the spot, and the two figures vanished instantly.
Countless magical spells followed closely behind, blasting a huge, deep crater in the flat ground, sending rocks flying and dust billowing everywhere.
People screamed and the phantoms appeared and disappeared. After a series of firecracker-like explosions, only a few black-robed figures remained, silently standing beside a messy open space.
"The legendary black market raider... is back again?" someone muttered to themselves.
The group of dark wizards looked at each other in silence.
