A Certain Magical Hogwarts

Chapter 775 The Wizard's Arrogance

Chapter 775 The Wizard's Arrogance

As a historical legacy related to giants, the wizards did not act very ethically in this matter.

In order to gain more power, Dumbledore promised many benefits back then.

For example, after the war, a special piece of land was allocated to the giants so that they could live and reproduce undisturbed.

The problem is that the giant race is not a monolithic entity; when the Wizarding War broke out, it split into three parts:

Choose Voldemort's side;

Help the Ministry of Magic;

Neither side will help the other.

This led to a huge controversy over the resettlement of wizards after the war.

Giants that help Death Eaters naturally need to be monitored.

But Azkaban couldn't imprison the giants, much less build a Wall of Mary to enclose them.

The project is too large; it would be better to exile them to some remote place.

Those giants who helped the Ministry of Magic also need to be properly housed.

Therefore, the International Federation of Wizards adopted a crude, one-size-fits-all approach to this issue.

Giants from all sides were driven to the depths of the Alps.

Dumbledore was not yet the Grand Master of the Guild at the time, and therefore had no say in the matter, even if he opposed it.

The federation's reasoning was also quite sound: we did not break our promise; we did indeed give the land.

It's just "a bit barren," and since the giants don't grow vegetables, it's not a big problem.

But the giants were unwilling, especially those who had helped the Ministry of Magic.

It's like before the college entrance exam, the organization comes to you and asks you to save the world, promising to arrange a university for you if you succeed.

I thought Tsinghua and Peking University were a sure thing, or at the very least, they would be among the top-tier universities in China.

Well... even someone with a college degree can barely manage.

Unexpectedly, after all this, I was arranged to study in London as part of a joint Sino-British program.

Because of the virus mutation, hundreds of thousands of people are fleeing overnight, and you're pushing me into a fire pit?

It would be better to send them to the super-fast United States, where at least they have freedom and democracy.

Who could accept such a huge difference?

The reason for this result is quite simple:

The wizard's usual arrogance.

They thought Voldemort had been defeated and the giants were no longer needed, so they could just give away a piece of land.

Ignorance and stupidity are never the biggest obstacles; arrogance is!

The result of this action is that it has created a huge problem for us more than a decade later:

The giants distrusted the Ministry of Magic and Dumbledore.

When two forces simultaneously came into contact with the giants, Voldemort was actually the more trustworthy one... Can you believe it?!

It's just because he died young and didn't have time to deceive the giant.

But Voldemort also had a disadvantage:

He had "died" and disappeared for thirteen years.

When the Dark Lord fails, the aura that once surrounded him will gradually fade.

Why did Voldemort summon the Death Eaters on that night of resurrection and fight Harry in front of these servants?

Is it just for the purpose of dominating weaker opponents?

Of course not. Voldemort wanted to rebuild his prestige and reaffirm the faith of his followers who had wavered.

Lord Voldemort is as powerful as ever!

He's still the eternal god!

But no one expected the Starks to suddenly appear out of nowhere, ruining the Resurrection Banquet!

Even the Death Eaters are worried about how much of Voldemort's strength he will retain after his resurrection... Don't the giants in the Alps worry about that too?

Who knows if this Dark Lord's second comeback is just a paper tiger?

He can "die" once, but what if he dies again and disappears for another thirteen years? What would happen then?

The giants may not trust the Ministry of Magic, but they are even more afraid of choosing the wrong side.

The former would at most be driven to the Alps, but if the latter were to go through another round, it might mean the extinction of their race.

Therefore, Friedvafa's seemingly mocking question was actually a sign of his observation, and also a hint to William:

Making empty promises is no longer effective; she needs more tangible benefits and conditions.

She was a very wise giantess.

If Hagrid were facing his mother, he would probably be completely under her thumb.

However, wisdom has different meanings in different contexts.

Just like the "smile" of elders and your "smile," they have completely different meanings.

The former will make your scalp tingle, while the latter will make you look weird and strange.

William couldn't figure out Friedwafa's true thoughts, unsure whether she was genuinely clever and wise, or "had something wrong with her head."

So I didn't continue the conversation with her in any deeper way.

There's no rush.

After all, his primary mission in entering the giants' tribe was to find Sirius Black, Durmstrang's students, as well as Hagrid and Maxim.

Persuading the giants to take sides was just a side effect.

William chatted for a while longer, but still didn't mention Hagrid, and then left with Ygritte.

Walking down the street, he attracted the attention of many giants.

News of the arrival of a young wizard had already spread among the few giants.

Especially Ygritte's brother Hodor, that big mouth, carrying the three remaining giant heads, was showing off and saying something, occasionally pointing at William.

Although I couldn't understand it, I realized after thinking about it carefully that Ador was exaggerating his story of killing the adult Titan.

The bloody giant's head added to William's terrifying aura.

The adult male giants only dared to whisper from afar, and dared not get too close.

The female giants, on the other hand, were more direct and bold, pointing at William and chattering away.

Giants worship the strong... William was undoubtedly a strongman.

There was also the Female Giant deliberately baring her upper body and beckoning to William.

Good heavens... that giant chandelier that looked like a small sun almost blinded him.

I've told you so many times not to use high beams, but you just won't listen... Don't you know that these things can easily cause car accidents?

As they passed through the tribe's territory, they came across a giant who opened his mouth, revealing a mouthful of large, strong teeth, and made a sound that was half like a hiccup and half like a roar.

Ygritte whispered a reminder: "This is Friedwafa's son, Glop."

William squinted as he looked at him.

Unexpectedly, Hagrid actually ended up with a younger brother.

But this giant named Grop didn't look so good; his face was covered in scars.

Even when they're asleep, their snoring is so loud it shakes the earth, and you can still hear their stomachs rumbling.

It can be described as a forbidden duet at midnight.

“Glopp is too short. My brother isn’t even an adult yet, and he’s already a head taller than him,” Ygritte explained.

"If a giant is too short, he will be discriminated against and bullied by other giants."

"Doesn't Friedwafa care? This is her son," William said, puzzled.

"The leader doesn't like him and doesn't care whether he lives or dies." Ygritte shook her head.

Well, this really takes being a jerk to a whole new level.

After turning left and right along the bunker, Ygritte led William to the end of the road.

There appeared a room that was much lower in height.

William went inside and found that it was the command room of the bunker, with a large bed in the corner covered with animal hides.

"This is my room. The ceiling is too low; they can't all fit in."

Ygritte walked nonchalantly to the corner where a wooden stick lay.

Everything is under control; all that's left is to knock Stark unconscious.

she thought.

William, ignoring Ygritte's actions, waved his wand, illuminating the room.

He held his wand as if it were a lantern, gazing at the bunker map hanging in the corner of the wall.

The surface was densely covered with markings indicating numerous passageways.

William glanced at it for a moment, then suddenly realized what he had overlooked.

Could Sirius Black have taken those students and hidden in the bunker as well?

Just then, a sudden, unexpected sound of something cutting through the air came.
