A Certain Magical Hogwarts
Chapter 764 Shit, damn it!
Chapter 764 Shit, damn it!
As Fudge walked toward his office, he kept greeting people, even running into Arthur Weasley and exchanging a few words with him.
This left Arthur completely bewildered, wondering what had gotten into this minister who had recently become so wary of him.
Fudge wasn't crazy, he was just happy!
His lips curled slightly upward, his face revealing an undisguised sense of smugness.
"My political talent is unparalleled," he thought.
Indeed, it was unparalleled. In just a few weeks, he removed Dumbledore from his position as President of the International Federation of Wizards and Chief of Wizengamot.
Fudge is so smug!
He didn't expect it to be so easy; he had thought he would encounter a lot of resistance.
It seems Dumbledore has really gotten old, and his influence is not what it used to be.
Fudge's lips curled into a cold smile.
Kicking a drowning dog is an essential skill for any mature politician.
Next, he plans to interfere at Hogwarts, remove Dumbledore from his position as headmaster, and send him back to Godric's Hollow to grow sugarcane.
Fudge had said it long ago:
Dumbledore would regret it; without his support, even as headmaster, he would find it impossible to get anything done.
Only Fudge could tolerate Dumbledore's little whims.
But now he's not going to tolerate it anymore!
These past few days, Dumbledore hasn't learned his lesson. Like a mad dog, he's given several speeches announcing that the Mystic has returned.
Public opinion... Fudge has warned major newspapers across the country, including the Daily Prophet, to do everything they can to smear Dumbledore.
Everything is under control!
Fudge confidently pushed open the office door and slowly walked in.
Before he could sit down, Percy, who had just become the assistant minister, immediately knocked on the door and came in.
He fawned over her, holding a steaming hot latte and a stack of newspapers.
The Daily Prophet is definitely available, and newspapers from other countries should also be checked.
A morning can easily pass by if you keep up with international affairs like this.
Fudge sat down in the chair, took the latte, blew away the dregs, and then carefully took a small sip.
No sugar was added, but I added grape juice and Jin Ke La Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Liquid... The taste was just right.
Percy's skills improved more and more.
However, Fudge still misses the hand-drip coffee from Umbridge.
That's truly sweet without being cloying, leaving a lingering aftertaste.
"Congratulations, Minister. I read your report yesterday, and it was very well said." Percy licked skillfully.
Fudge was also somewhat pleased, recalling the interview he had received from the Daily Prophet the day before yesterday—about his receipt of the Order of Merlin, First Class.
That's right, Fudge received the Order of Merlin this year in recognition of his contributions to the magical community as Minister for Magic.
I will go to the Merlin Medal award ceremony at the end of July to receive it.
Although it sounds somewhat shameless, Fudge believes that he deserves it based on his achievements.
Just like he said in front of the reporters:
"When I first took over the Ministry of Magic, the ministry's finances were in disarray, and wizards had no surplus funds."
Officials at the director level earn less than 200 gallons a month, with meager allowances, and their offices are dilapidated, yet two people still squeeze into one room.
A year later, the Ministry of Magic had everything: a Nimbus 2000, newly renovated offices, and allowances and benefits.
Without these, would I dare to directly and forcefully smear Dumbledore and Stark?
Of course, Fudge didn't say the last sentence to the reporter; he just kept it to himself.
But then Fudge thought about it again, and realized that William would also receive the Order of Merlin First Class and would be receiving the award with him, which made him a little unhappy.
This is William's second award, and he will definitely steal the spotlight if he appears at the ceremony.
Fudge didn't want to award it to William, but he had no choice.
Because there are precedents to follow.
The infamous Ilfloorcom incident: a Welsh green dragon attacked a group of Muggles in Ilfloorcom, Devon, England.
The Tok family, who were on vacation, prevented the incident from escalating into a fatality.
For this, Tok was awarded the Order of Merlin, First Class.
Last summer at the Quidditch World Cup, William stopped a series of attacks and rescued many wizards who had been kidnapped from various countries.
Even though William had already received the Order of Merlin once, this award was well-deserved and without any exaggeration.
Fudge couldn't stop it, otherwise the public pressure would be too great.
"What's in today's Daily Prophet?" Fudge asked, taking a sip of his coffee.
"Um...nothing big news," Percy said vaguely.
"Nothing happened?" Fudge glanced at the calendar.
"According to the timeline, the International Wizarding Union Congress should have already been held in Vienna."
"With Stark and Granger there, didn't anything happen?"
As Fudge spoke, he laughed, amused by his own humor.
Percy chuckled awkwardly and reluctantly pulled out the newspaper.
Fudge leaned back comfortably in his chair, crossed his arms and placed them on his lap. He closed his eyes and said, "Read!"
Hopefully, I'll hear some good news; he did send Umbridge over there to cause trouble.
Percy struggled to read about the attack on Vienna.
Fudge didn't finish his coffee before spitting it out.
Percy continued reading, and Fudge's face grew increasingly grim.
"Stark claims that the Vienna incident was orchestrated by a mysterious figure," Percy read.
He also showed reporters a lot of evidence, including a Death Eater.
This Death Eater is a wizard from the Rozier family who calls himself a servant of the Mystic.
According to Rozier, the mysterious figure ordered him to unleash the Kraken to attack the Wizarding Conference.
Fudge snatched the newspaper, stared at the picture of the siren, and was completely stunned.
To be honest, looking at the photos, even he started to believe it!
Minister Fouché continued reading, frowning as he read:
"Stark will receive the Order of the Austrian Double-Headed Eagle, First Class, and the Order of Merlin, First Class, which is his second time receiving the Order of Merlin."
When asked by reporters about his feelings, Stark claimed that he would refuse to accept the award with Secretary Fudge.
Because, for him, that was a disgrace.
Stark will become the first wizard in British magical history to refuse the Order of Merlin.
Coincidentally, he was also the youngest recipient of the Order of Merlin and the first man to receive it twice.
Fudge was trembling with anger, his face turning red. He hadn't even shown any disdain, yet the other person was showing disdain for him!
He quickly looked at it again.
Stark said that the British Ministry of Magic should establish the "Merlin Peace Prize" to be awarded to Minister Fudge in order to satisfy his vanity.
Ideally, a "Minister's Hill" should be built, with his portrait carved on it...
Fudge angrily threw the newspaper on the ground and stomped on it several times. After a few seconds, when he calmed down, he picked it up.
Stark also made proposals regarding the attack.
He believes that the situation is difficult and that the president of the federation must take proactive measures to address this matter.
However, the federation was unable to elect a new president in a short period of time.
Stark proposed that Dumbledore continue as interim chairman until the matter was resolved.
"According to reliable sources, Ms. Piqueli, the U.S. representative, has contacted more than twenty representatives, urging them to address this issue..."
Fudge jumped to his feet, his expression one of terror.
"What is Umbridge doing in Vienna?!"
Fudge paced in front of the fireplace, grabbed a handful of glittering powder from a jar on the mantel and sprinkled it on the flames.
"Martin!" Fudge shouted at the flames, "Where are you!"
Five or six minutes later, a large shape appeared in the fire, spinning rapidly.
"Are you calling me, Minister?" Martin asked breathlessly.
"Of course I'm looking for you! What were you doing just now?!" Fudge said angrily.
"I...I have a stomachache," Martin said.
Fudge didn't pursue Martin too much about his paid bathroom breaks and slacking off at work.
He shouted, "What's going on with Dumbledore?!"
Martin is the director of the International Office of Magical Enforcement, a department under the International Magical Cooperation Division.
In theory, the International Federation of Wizards governs various countries.
However, preventing excessive interference in internal affairs cannot be achieved through direct management.
They typically issue orders, which are then overseen and implemented by the Office of Magical Execution.
Martin was the official who liaised with the federation, essentially a foreign ministry with oversight powers.
"What's wrong with Dumbledore?" Martin asked, bewildered.
"The International Wizarding Federation wants him back as its president!" Fudge roared.
"How did you know?" Martin asked in surprise.
"It's in the newspapers! Didn't you see it? You don't know? You're the director of the International Office of Magic Enforcement!"
"My newspaper hasn't arrived yet."
"Your newspaper? Don't you have the Federation's official documents?" Fudge was taken aback.
"No. Official documents are always late; I usually read international news in the newspapers." Martin shrugged.
"For example, I only found out two days ago that you dismissed Dumbledore from his position as Chairman."
Fudge was speechless, and after panting for a long time, he finally cursed:
"You f***ing...shitf***er!"
