Chapter 323 The Witch and the Giant Python
Chapter 323 The Witch and the Giant Python
The Ritz Paris.
Within the safety table.
Hermione went up the stairs and entered the wondrous space that had been expanded with the Unseen Stretching Charm.
The living room was large, and its layout was exactly the same as the house in the wizard village: the furniture, kitchen, decorations, bonsai... all exuded a sense of familiarity.
Hermione felt a little dazed, as if she had returned to St. Catchbolt Village.
She walked down the stairs and gently turned the doorknob.
William was busy at a huge crucible, constantly emitting heat.
Hermione changed into her work clothes, checked the potion-making steps on the worktable, and began preparing the ingredients.
Everything was so ordinary.
"This time, we're using silk from the giant eight-eyed spider," William instructed.
On the worktable lay a large amount of tangled spider silk, each strand glistening with crystalline slime.
Hermione placed the spider silk in a container, squeezed it, and then used a magic dropper to extract the slime.
William poured it into the crucible, and the blue liquid slowly turned a lighter blue.
Regarding improvements to Lockhart shampoo, William tried many materials, but none were satisfactory and could counteract the explosive properties of the bird-snake eggs.
This time, the amount of bird and snake eggs was reduced, other mixed materials were added, and finally, the mucus of the eight-eyed giant spider silk was added.
The danger seems to have decreased considerably.
After finishing their work, William led Hermione back to the living room.
Yesterday, Roy and his group left Paris for Lyon. William and Hermione will also begin their investigation.
"Shall we go now?" Hermione asked.
William thought for a moment, "Let's check the little pets Newt gave us first and see if they're of any use."
Hermione nodded, took out the glass bottle, and unscrewed the cap.
A bird-snake's face appeared. It curiously poked its head out of the glass opening, looked around, and was overjoyed to find that Newt was not there.
William was certain that he could read that emotion in the ugly face of the bird-snake.
William had a bad feeling.
The bird-snake couldn't wait to crawl out of the bottle. The part inside the bottle was still slender, but its upper body suddenly grew larger.
It coiled in circles, like smoke rings, and quickly occupied most of the living room space.
William pulled Hermione back, and the two were squeezed into a corner.
The bird-snake grew larger and larger, like Ultraman. It crushed everything in the living room—tables, sofas, murals…
Grass! (A magical plant)
"Change back to normal right now!" William shouted.
But Newt's "little darling" completely ignored William. It arrogantly wagged its tail, then changed direction and trampled over the living room again.
Is this what Newt meant by "a well-behaved little cutie"?
William shouldn't have believed Old Man Newt's nonsense!
A small, dark, furry creature opened the bird-snake's mouth and crawled out from between its teeth.
—Sniff!
And what the heck, there's a Niffler hiding in the bird-snake's mouth?!
Is there anywhere a Niffler can't hide?
It saw the crystal chandelier on the ceiling, its eyes lit up, and it jumped up, hovering on the chandelier, swinging like a pendulum.
The chandelier crashed down and hit the bird-snake squarely on the head.
The bird-snake looked fierce, but it was a cowardly creature with a fierce exterior. When frightened, it let out a scream.
Tear it apart!
The sound wasn't a snake-like voice; it was more like the sound of fingernails scratching on a blackboard.
William and Hermione quickly covered their ears.
The sniffle was also terrified. As the culprit, it jumped into William's arms, trembling.
Shake your sister!
William grabbed the Niffler by the tail and casually tossed it into the trash can in the corner.
Sniffle closed the lid, leaving only a small gap, and peeked out.
The bird-snake became agitated, rampaging wildly, seemingly wanting to cause more damage on the second floor.
William pulled out a piece of bread, tapped it with his wand, and transformed it into a giant rhinoceros beetle.
The bird-snake suddenly pressed down, its eyes squeezing into cross-eyed stares intently at the rhinoceros beetle.
Bird snakes love insects and are true gourmands.
William threw the rhinoceros beetle into the glass bottle, and the bird-snake moved, its body coiling and coiling around the living room, while simultaneously shrinking rapidly and burrowing its head into the bottle.
Hermione quickly pressed the cap onto the bottle.
Sniff lifted the trash can lid, crawled out, and looked around furtively.
It ran into the kitchen, and Hermione followed, gently covering it with a frying pan, which continued to move across the floor.
William lifted the frying pan, grabbed the Niffler's paw, and threw it back into the trash can. He then waved his wand and sealed the lid shut.
Merlin's! Just because I'm not showing my power doesn't mean I'm a stupid badger!
William sent Hermione to the basement to retrieve the box, while he waved his wand and cast Restoration Charms repeatedly, restoring the living room to its original state.
Hermione arrived with a magic box.
William opened the box, and inside lay a snake-like monster more than three meters long, only it was covered with a blindfold.
The basilisk develops very quickly; as long as there is food, it can shed its skin every two weeks.
William took a spider, placed it in front of the basilisk, and removed its blindfold.
The spider died instantly.
The basilisk is not yet an adult; ordinary animals will die if they see its eyes, but large magical creatures can only be petrified.
But this is enough to make an example of someone.
William shook the bottle and threatened, "If you dare disobey again, I'll put you with the basilisk and kill you!"
The bird-snake suddenly lost its appetite and obediently nodded.
"And you!" William pulled the Sniff out of the trash can. It covered its eyes, too afraid to look at the basilisk.
Half an hour later, a man and a woman left the Ritz Hotel openly and without any hindrance.
The French Aurors, who were monitoring the area around the hotel, remained unresponsive, still watching vigilantly. They carried William's photo and would immediately follow the boy if he came out.
But William and Hermione, having already used Polyjuice Potion to transform into two Muggles, easily left.
Magic makes crime easier, especially since they develop a sense of contempt, believing their opponents are nothing more than two underage wizards.
Disregard comes at a price.
Reaching a corner, William and Hermione re-entered the room of the safety table, took Polyjuice Potion, and transformed into Clegane and Costa.
……
……
Inside a building in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.
A man and a woman pushed open the door and went inside. They entered the hall, and Sniff pointed to a certain spot before retreating back into the security window.
Just then, a loud bang came from the far end of the hall as the door was suddenly pushed open, and a series of hurried footsteps came through the hall and toward them.
"Sir!" a voice shouted angrily, "This place has been sealed off by the Ministry of Magic; no one is allowed to enter!"
William turned around and saw a witch walking towards him.
She was petite and had short, brown hair that reached her ears.
She strode towards them, aggressive, and pulled out her wand.
When she got closer and their eyes met, she froze, covering her mouth with her hand.
"Mr. Clegane!" she exclaimed, looking embarrassed. "I'm so sorry! I didn't know it was you."
"Hmm." William recalled Clegane's manner of speaking and said sternly, "I need to re-examine the scene of Newt's attack."
"Hmm?" the witch asked in confusion. "Didn't you already check and tell everyone not to come near?"
"This is somewhat unexpected," Crigan said seriously.
"The day before yesterday, Stark, the representative of Wisconsin-Madison, visited Scamander. Scamander told Stark how he found the box."
Clegane gestured to Hermione.
"Miss Costa got some information out of Stark, and I need her to double-check the details."
Costa nodded nervously and said softly, "Stark is obviously a bit of a womanizer."
William: "..."
This statement was absolutely not made during the drills!
The witch looked Costa up and down, then turned her eager gaze to Clegane.
Clearly, they wanted to make a good impression on their boss.
"Shall I take you there?"
Clegane shook his head. "The two of us can go. I know where it is. You guard the gate and make sure no one gets in."
The witch looked at Scotta with some disappointment and envy, forcing a smile as she said, "I understand."
William blinked and led Hermione toward the room.
Sniff popped out from inside and pointed to a corner.
William waved his wand. "Surveillance."
The wand emitted a puff of golden smoke, illuminating traces of recent magical activity in the corridor.
Niffler hopped to the ground and carefully searched for Newt's trail.
It quickly found the traces.
William and Hermione saw Newt's visions.
Newt collapsed to the ground, and a woman appeared. From beneath her robe, a giant python three or four meters long emerged.
The python coiled around the box and delivered it to the woman.
"Thank you, Nagini."
A commotion arose again in the distance.
William waved his wand, and the golden smoke vanished.
He grabbed Hermione's hand and Apparated her directly.
A group of Aurors rushed in. There was nothing inside, only faint magical fluctuations.
