A Certain Magical Hogwarts
Chapter 27 Marauder's Map
Chapter 27 Marauder's Map (Third Update)
News of Snape's teaching mishap spread like wildfire throughout Hogwarts.
By noon, almost everyone knew about it, and you could hear conversations like the one below just walking down the street.
Have you heard?
"What?"
"During Professor Snape's class, a potion made by a Ravenclaw student exploded."
Have you heard?
"What?"
"Professor Snape was teaching when the potion he was making exploded."
Have you heard?
"I heard! Professor Snape... he's gone mad!"
"..."
Professor Snape was furious, and the news quickly spread to every corner of Hogwarts, making William, one of the parties involved, a hot topic.
He was portrayed as the culprit behind Professor Snape's explosion!
Yesterday during the Sorting Ceremony, William said Snape was a greasy old bat, and everyone is waiting for him to suffer today.
But unexpectedly, he actually managed to blow up Snape... He's truly the number one werewolf at Hogwarts!
William was pulled away by George and Fred before he even reached the Ravenclaw table.
They raised their pumpkin juice glasses, clinked them together, and cheered loudly, "Let us welcome the Hogwarts hero—William Stark! He has rid Hogwarts of Professor Snape, the chief of the three scourges of Hogwarts!"
The twin brothers' loud celebration drew the attention of countless young wizards, who, unaware of the situation, might have thought they had wiped out the Death Eaters' lair!
At the Gryffindor table, everyone's face was filled with happy smiles, and Wood even shed tears of emotion.
It is evident how badly he had been tormented and humiliated by Professor Snape over the years.
Those painful years not only left marks on the body, but also carved indelible wounds on the soul.
William was forced to drink several mouthfuls of pumpkin juice before he could catch his breath.
He said speechlessly, "Is this just a rumor you're spreading?"
George patted William on the shoulder and laughed, "Brother, forget about the rumors, just be happy."
Fred continued, "Yeah, that means we don't have to go to Old Bat's class on Wednesday, at least."
George handed William a cup of summerberry panna cotta and told him to eat at the Gryffindor table.
"In my opinion, you shouldn't have saved Snape. You have no idea how awful he is."
William smiled. He believed that in that situation, any young wizard would have chosen to treat Snape's scabies with the potion, including the twins!
He didn't continue the topic, but instead asked, "Did Cedric tell you that I wanted to make a map?"
George took a bite of the liqueur-soaked fruit pudding and said, "William, to be honest, this is difficult!"
"The most crucial problem is that you need to be very familiar with Hogwarts, which is exactly what you're not."
"So, I've come to find you two." William's lips curled into a smile. "I dare say, even Professor Dumbledore doesn't know Hogwarts as well as you two!"
Fred burst out laughing, nearly choking on his own throat.
George chuckled and said, "Oh dear—if we stayed a few more years, we would certainly agree with what you said, William, but not now."
Fred blinked. "We're humbly learning as well."
As he spoke, he glanced around cautiously and whispered, "Come on, come on, let me show you a big treasure!"
"..." For some reason, William felt that Fred was particularly sleazy.
The three men lowered their heads, and Fred carefully pulled out his prized possession from his black robe.
—It was a large, square, very old parchment, with nothing written on it!
William was curious why this kid hid things in places that could easily cause misunderstandings... The Sniffler did it, and so did the parchment. Didn't he find it uncomfortable?
Fred placed the parchment on the bench, glancing warily around.
William wondered if it was worth being so nervous.
"Don't look at me like that, William," George whispered. "This is a mysterious magical artifact that can lead us to a new world."
William's eyes lit up. Could it be... a doujinshi?!
George was pleased with William's expression. He patted the parchment and explained:
"When we were in first grade, we were young, carefree, and innocent..."
William squinted at the two men, wondering if Fred and George had ever been naive.
"Well, I'm definitely more naive than you. When we were first-years, we didn't attack Slytherin on the train, nor did we call Snape a greasy old bat at the Sorting Party..."
William quickly interrupted George.
George cleared his throat and sighed, "Even though we're so naive, a little friction has occurred between us and Filch."
"We put a big dung bomb in the hallway, and for some reason, it really upset him..."
"So he took us to his office and started with the usual punishment."
"Put him in solitary confinement."
"Take our intestines out."
"We couldn't help but notice his filing cabinet drawers, one of which had a sign that read: Confiscated supplies, high danger."
"So..." William laughed.
"So what did you do?" Fred said with a wicked grin. "George threw another dung bomb to distract him. I quickly pulled open the drawer and grabbed this."
“It’s not as bad as it sounds, you know,” George laughed. “We don’t think Filch ever figured out how to use this parchment. But he probably guessed what it was, otherwise he wouldn’t have confiscated it.”
"Do you know how to use it?" William asked impatiently.
"I know some things, but more is still being unlocked," George chuckled. "However, this is one—"
"—A map of Hogwarts!"
William was somewhat disappointed to hear that it wasn't a notebook; he had gradually forgotten why he had brought the twin brothers in the first place.
"What are you doing?!"
Just then, a stern voice suddenly rang out from behind.
Professor McGonagall appeared behind the three of them at some point.
With a stern face and a more forceful tone, she asked, "What are you doing?"
William plopped down on the parchment map and replied, "We were discussing what gift to give Professor Snape; you know, he's had some teaching mishaps..."
Professor McGonagall's expression softened somewhat, and she said, "Mr. Stark, I already know about what happened this morning. You did very well, and Professor Flitwick will be proud of you."
However, if I find out what kind of prank you're planning...
She glanced at the parchment under William's bottom, and after a moment, turned her gaze to the twin brothers.
"You two are staying tonight!"
"What are we going to do, Professor?" Fred asked cautiously.
They wrote a two-thousand-word self-criticism last night, and will continue to face further punishment today.
"Go and help Mr. Filch polish the silverware in the medal room," Professor McGonagall said. "No magic allowed, you hear me, Mr. Weasleys—polish it all by hand!"
The twin brothers were trembling.
William gasped.
The Weasley brothers broke the rules, and Professor McGonagall made an example of them... For the first time, William gained a profound understanding of the Hogwarts rules!
Violating the rules is acceptable, but you absolutely cannot get caught.
A lesson learned the hard way!
