Chapter 229 An Unbreakable Vow

Chapter 229 An Unbreakable Vow (First Update, Please Subscribe)

William wrote to Professor McGonagall the day after he completed the transformation of Animagus.

Professor McGonagall was his tutor and knew his learning progress; she also helped with the placement of potions.

Therefore, he had absolutely no need to hide his Animagus identity.

Professor McGonagall wouldn't let William do such a thing either.

Animagus is perfectly legitimate, but if it is hidden from the Ministry of Magic and discovered, things could get complicated.

Professor McGonagall would never allow her best student to make such a basic mistake.

In her reply, McGonagall also congratulated William.

Professor McGonagall was also disappointed that she couldn't be there to watch over it, but there was nothing she could do; no one could control when the thunderstorm would arrive.

In her letter, Professor McGonagall suggested that William write a paper on transforming into a giant eagle and publish it in the magazine "Transfiguration Today".

She would review and approve the manuscript during the summer vacation, and then discuss with the editor-in-chief to award William the "Most Promising Newcomer Award" after the start of the semester.

Hmm... No need to go through the formalities, just have your students' papers reviewed in advance. Having connections makes things so much easier!

Of course, Professor McGonagall did this because she was overjoyed; she hadn't seen her students win awards in a long time.

At the end of July, William took Hermione and Anne to the Cedric family's house.

Their house was on the other side of Weasel Mountain, a few hours away from William's house.

Autumn arrived, which made Cedric extremely happy.

Cedric has been at the Ollivander store lately, and only has a couple of days of free time.

He wanted Qiu to stay at his house for a few days, but unfortunately his scheme failed.

Cedric sighed deeply, wanting to move out like William.

But I have no money.

He clearly earned a lot of money, but he had his father store it all in a vault.

In old Diggory's words, "Keep this for Said's wedding!"

Cedric actually believed it.

These kinds of words are like the New Year's money that parents save up—you can never get it back in your lifetime.

The next day, William received another letter from the twins, inviting William's family to a dinner party.

Anne and Hermione rode unicorns there; they had come to regard unicorns as their mode of transportation.

Poor unicorn...

William, on the other hand, used Apparition at the precise moment. When he arrived at the outskirts of the Burrow, the twins were waiting for him at the village entrance.

While they were supposed to be waiting, the two of them were actually clinging to a girl.

Fred was performing card magic tricks for the girl, but he actually used magic to conjure up the cards he wanted.

After playing for a while, the girl went back to eat, and the two of them lingered there, looking at each other with reluctance.

William approached and greeted them.

"How did you come out from behind?" Fred asked, puzzled. "Oh, it was Apparition!"

George said enviously, "Oh, that's great, we want to learn too."

William said, "Then learn it, it's not that complicated."

Fred shook his head and sighed. "Even if we learned it, we couldn't use it. If my mother found out, we're not even adults yet, and we'd been secretly learning this kind of magic..."

"They'll beat us, beat us to death!" George chimed in.

"Come on, would Mrs. Weasley really bear to hit you?" William asked, his face full of disbelief. "Has she ever hit you?"

"Seriously, I've beaten him up a lot." George looked dejected.

"The worst time was when Ron was five years old. Fred and I wanted him to make an unbreakable vow..."

"Wait? When Ron was five?" William squinted. "You were only eight back then, weren't you?"

"Yeah, we didn't have a wand, we stole Percy's," Fred replied.

"The point isn't the wand. Did you make an unbreakable vow when you were eight years old?" William asked skeptically.

An unbreakable oath is a magical spell used to form a covenant between wizards. If the oath is broken, the person who broke it will die.

This is a rather advanced spell; not everyone can use it.

The twin brothers were only eight years old at the time, which is even less reliable than learning the Guardian Charm in first grade.

"Who knows? We just tried it out of a magic book, and Mom said we almost succeeded..." George said.

"Wait a minute... George," Fred said, puzzled. "Now that you mention it, I'm a little confused too."

How come I didn't know I had such outstanding magical skills when I was eight years old?

"Did I become stupid because I got beaten up?"

"Come on, Fred, Mom only spanked your bottom, not your head." George raised an eyebrow and squinted. "So, Mom was lying to us?"

William also felt that Mrs. Weasley was deliberately intimidating them to prevent them from bullying her younger brother Ron, and that she was exaggerating the outcome.

"Really, I was so stupid!" Fred said, looking unhappy. "I regretted it and blamed myself for a long time afterward, and I even gave Ron two weeks' worth of allowance."

"I also gave him a month's allowance," George said regretfully.

"Most importantly, my parents hung me up and beat me," Fred said, rubbing his bottom. "From then on, the left side of my bottom was different from the right."

"William, would you like to take a look?" George asked.

"No need, you two can keep it for yourselves to admire," William quickly waved his hand.

But he was still puzzled: if it hadn't succeeded, why would Mrs. Weasley have hit Fred?

He rested his chin on his hand and asked, "So, what oath did you take?"

"Hmm, not an excessive vow," Fred clicked his tongue. "It's just that Ron has to stay single for life, can't have a girlfriend, and can't get married."

"..."

No wonder he got beaten up!

Such a vicious oath! If it were William, he would have to hang Fred up and beat him!

"By the way, who was that girl just now?" William asked curiously as the three of them approached the humble dwelling.

"There's a paper shop in the Muggle quarter of the village where Lysa works," George explained.

Fred grinned mischievously and said, "William, I know you and Hermione are having a great time living together, but you can't stay indoors all the time, can you?"

There are many other beautiful sights in the village; we should learn to appreciate them.

"Like Ryza just now?"

"Yes, isn't it beautiful?" Fred said with a grin.

"Yes, I think Angelina would be very interested to hear this news, the pretty paper-selling girl." William grinned maliciously.

"Angelina? What's wrong? Does she know Lysa?"

George, a very intelligent man, became oblivious at this moment, failing to realize that Fred liked Angelina.

He probably still can't believe that his beloved Fred had secretly fallen for another woman behind his back.

If George knew, he would probably make Fred make an unbreakable vow to him, keeping him single for life.
