A Certain Magical Hogwarts
Chapter 216 End of Final Exam
Chapter 216 End of Final Exam
As June arrives, the days become hot and humid with clear, cloudless skies.
Everyone just wanted to go for a walk outdoors, bring a few pints of chilled pumpkin juice, and fall in love on the grass;
Or you could play a game of throwing stones that has lost its sophisticated appeal, where the loser has to take off a piece of clothing, and so on until they are completely naked.
Alternatively, one could sit by the Black Lake and wait for the Dragon King to come out and spout water.
But they can't do that.
With exams approaching, the students had no choice but to stay in the castle, enduring the allure of the summer breeze blowing in from the windows, forcing their brains to study hard.
Everyone else was studying hard, but William was doing nothing, spending his days making various alchemical items.
What's the difference between a top student and a genius student?
Those who study hard all day and still get high scores are top students; those who don't study all day and still get high scores... those are geniuses.
In everyone's eyes, William had already reached the level of a genius.
However, William knew he wasn't a genius.
But this didn't stop him from planning to play for a month first, and then return to his studies during the summer vacation.
As for exams... when your level has far surpassed that of graduating students, would you still care about second-year exams?
Hermione, on the other hand, had been planning to study since Christmas and had reviewed each subject several times since Easter, yet she was still working overtime.
She hopes to be like William, a first-grader, and get perfect scores in all subjects.
Look, what reason could a student like this possibly have not to succeed?
William truly witnessed firsthand Hermione's many outstanding qualities.
Can you believe that such an outstanding child doesn't have many friends?
It's just that Hermione lacks emotional intelligence; otherwise, she could have attracted a lot of admirers simply by using the strategic resource of a top student's notes.
And what about Harry and Ron? They had no sense of being academic underachievers at all. They were just slacking off the whole time, leisurely and carefree. The time they spent reading was less than the time they spent daydreaming.
No wonder, if a mediocre student becomes self-disciplined, would they still be a mediocre student?
In addition to reviewing, Hermione also collected William's first-year test questions.
Although William told her it was useless, as many of the points tested last year wouldn't be tested the following year, Hermione still stubbornly reviewed them several times.
This reminded William that he planned to offer paid recollections of the exam questions after the exam.
He compiled all the questions from all six grades and sold them to students as past exam questions.
Collect past exam questions, and of course, don't forget about cheating tools.
William made many automatic quill pens, memory balls, cheat sheet sleeves, and automatic error correction ink.
The students went crazy buying them, since cheating was very tempting for them.
But this only provides psychological comfort. The school will take strict precautions against this, and every exam paper is protected with particularly strict anti-cheating measures.
The professors also seemed to have sharp eyes, preventing anyone from bringing in cheating devices.
Soon, it was time for the exam.
Unsurprisingly, the Defense Against the Dark Arts exam was canceled.
This marks the second consecutive year that Hogwarts has cancelled its programs. From a teaching perspective, the quality of students in recent years has not been very high.
They first took a written exam, and then there was an applied exam.
Professor Flitwick called the students into the classroom and had them use the Flight Charm to control the key to fly through the complex environment.
For a moment, the entire classroom was filled with keys.
Clearly, everyone mistook this for flying on a sword.
William controlled fourteen keys by himself, forming a Quidditch match, and Professor Flitwick gave him a perfect score on the spot.
During the Transfiguration exam, Professor McGonagall gave everyone a few pebbles and asked them to transform them into tables and chairs.
The prettier the tables and chairs, the higher the score.
William conjured up a sofa and then a high-class mahjong table.
It's a pity Professor McGonagall doesn't know how to play mahjong, otherwise we could have gotten together for a few rounds.
When taking the Potions exam, everyone frantically tried to recall the steps for making the hair growth potion.
Marietta sat behind William, constantly whispering to him how many mouse tails would be needed to make it work.
Snape stood behind them, watching closely; they could feel the chill on the back of their necks.
Such immense pressure has affected many people.
For example, Shabby from Hufflepuff suddenly burst into tears during the exam, sobbing that she was too stupid to take the exam, felt disgusted by Snape's face, and wanted to leave school right now.
Snape had a black face the whole time.
If it weren't for the constraints of a teacher's professional ethics, Snape would probably have hung Shabby up and given him an enema with Shabby's potion.
William, however, was not worried at all. He wrote the word "basilisk" on his test paper in the morning, not concerned that Professor Snape would not give him full marks.
The astronomy exam was at midnight, and they needed to go to a high tower to observe the movement of planets.
The test required them to identify all of Saturn's moons and fill in the precise positions of stars and planets as observed through a telescope on a blank star chart.
The last exam was on the history of magic.
The content was fairly standard, covering topics such as wand legislation and violations of secrecy laws, the reasons for the founding of the International Confederation of Wizards, and an explanation of why the Liechtenstein wizards refused to participate.
When Professor Binns told them to put down their quills and roll up their parchment answer sheets, all the students cheered.
A week later, Ravenclaw defeated Hufflepuff, finally winning the Quidditch Cup after nine consecutive years without it.
During the game, William played exceptionally well, scoring 200 points on his own, but in the end, Cedric caught the Golden Snitch.
This annoyed Qiu for several days.
The Hogwarts dinner was as lavish as ever, and the surroundings were newly decorated in Ravenclaw blue and bronze to celebrate their victory in the House Cup.
Professor Dumbledore stood up, his beard gleaming in the candlelight.
"Now, as far as I know, we first need to hold the Academy Cup awards ceremony."
The specific scores for each house are as follows: Fourth place, Hufflepuff, 355 points; Third place, Gryffindor, 360 points; Second place, Slytherin, 426 points; First place, Ravenclaw, 520 points.
A thunderous cheer and stomping erupted from the Ravenclaw dining table.
This marks their second consecutive year winning the championship.
"Yes, that's good," Dumbledore said. "However, a few things that happened a few months ago must also be taken into account."
Dumbledore cleared his throat. "Let me see. Oh, right... the first item—Mr. Ron Weasley... he won a brilliant game of wizard chess, for which I award Gryffindor fifty points."
"Secondly—Miss Hermione Granger… She kept overcoming obstacles and accomplished things that Quirrell couldn’t do. I’m awarding her fifty points to Gryffindor."
The Gryffindor students around them were ecstatic, jumping up and down at the dining table—they had gained a full hundred points!
"The third item—Harry Potter…" Dumbledore said. The Great Hall fell into an eerie silence.
"...He displayed great courage and extraordinary bravery, for which I will award Gryffindor sixty points."
The noise was deafening; Gryffindor now had a score of 520—the exact same as Ravenclaw's.
Qiu whispered, "Then won't our House Cup be shared with Gryffindor?"
William smiled and reassured her, "No, Qiu, don't forget, I also killed the basilisk."
Sure enough, Dumbledore continued, "William Stark single-handedly killed the Basilisk and saved countless students. He has received the 'Outstanding Contribution to the School Award' for the second time, and I award him one hundred points for that."
Everyone applauded, and the Ravenclaw table erupted in noise once more.
William raised his goblet and toasted Dumbledore from afar.
Dumbledore blinked and picked up the cup in front of him.
The two understood each other without saying a word.
Snape stood to the side, chugging down his wine in silence. If it weren't for Stark, they might have won seven consecutive championships.
Snape muttered to himself, "Seven in a row, seven in a row..."
