A Certain Magical Hogwarts

Chapter 196 Who in the world doesn't know Deng?

William waved his wand lightly, and the bottle suddenly stopped in mid-air.

He pinched the bottle between two fingers, sniffed it, and chuckled, "It's the mantis shrimp lemonade from Florin's Ice Cream Shop, hmm... and it's got aphrodisiacs added, plus a huge amount of killer royal jelly!"

"Sure! This drink is expensive. Graduation really does change things; you've become more generous, not as stingy as before."

Tonks never used to buy snacks; she would always go to the kitchen and have the elves make them for her.

William tilted his head back and drank the beverage in one gulp.

"Hey! Hey!"

Tonks rushed over, snatched the bottle away, squinted, and looked inside the bottle. She found that there wasn't a drop left.

Tonks shrugged, looking pitiful, and said, "I'm still on probation, only earning a paltry fifteen Galleons a month. I finally mustered the courage to treat myself..."

"Don't get excited." William took out a bottle of the same drink from the ring with the Unseen Stretch Charm and tossed it over.

He waved his wand again, this time conjuring a chair for Tonks.

Tonks chuckled and sat down in the chair, finishing his drink. "William," he asked curiously, "how did you recognize me?"

"Could you change back first? It looks awkward to me like this."

"I feel awkward too!"

Tonks closed his eyes tightly, his face tense, as if he was desperately trying to recall something.

A second later, the wrinkles on her face disappeared, and the color of her hair gradually deepened, turning into the same pink as her clothes.

Tonks has turned back into an eighteen-year-old girl.

William suddenly felt that she looked a lot like the woman in the red robe.

Wearing the necklace, she captivated countless Game of Thrones fans; taking it off, however, terrified children.

That's how amazing it is.

Tonks pulled a mirror out of his pocket and turned his head around, looking at his hair from various angles.

"How is it?" she asked.

"Aunt Tonks, you look good no matter what." William leaned back in his chair, looking particularly relaxed.

"Don't call me auntie! I'm only eighteen!" Tonks said angrily.

"A generation gap can appear at the age of three. You're a full six years older than me, so calling you 'Auntie' isn't inappropriate at all," William joked.

Tonks and Charlie Weasley were in the same class, and she graduated last July.

Tonks was a graduate of Hufflepuff College and was Cedric's neighbor. The two had a good relationship, so William naturally knew them.

Tonks is most famous for changing her hair color every year.

She changed her hairstyle seven times in seven years, and like a Saiyan, she doesn't have many colors left to use.

"By the way, Tonks, why did you become an Auror?" William asked, puzzled. "Didn't you say the Ministry of Magic wasn't right for you, too restrictive?"

Tonks stretched and sighed, "I can't help it, my mother is urging me to work at the Ministry of Magic."

And Mrs. Weasley, she said the Ministry of Magic is perfect for girls.

"Oh, that's an old argument." William nodded.

For the stagnant British magical community, a job at the Ministry of Magic is a secure, stable job, much like a civil servant in China.

Even though many of these jobs don't pay much, they are still the top choice for many people seeking employment.

If you have a job at the Ministry of Magic, people will look at you with more respect in the marriage market.

Sometimes, that's just how real it is!

"I couldn't resist them, and I didn't know what I was capable of, so I participated in the Auror selection and three years of training. Alastor was training me."

Tonks quickly recounted his story, as if pouring out candy.

"Alright, I've finished telling you my story. Now you can tell me." Tonks looked up, his bright eyes fixed on William.

"How did you know that old lady was me? I've tried many times, and no one could tell. I was just trying to play a trick on you!"

Tonks is a shapeshifter Magus; she has no training and is born with the ability to change her appearance at will.

This ability and the Animagus that William learned are two completely different concepts.

The former completely outclasses the latter!

"Hurry up and tell me!" Tonks urged.

William smiled. Ever since the Merlin Medal award ceremony, he had been hooking up with Bertha Jorkins.

Bertha Jorkins was a gossipy woman who always managed to get a lot of information about the Ministry of Magic.

William had already obtained the Auror personnel list from her and knew who would be coming.

Similarly, William saw Tonks' name on the Hogwarts map and was not fooled at all.

To be fair, Tonks's abilities are really useful; without this information, William definitely wouldn't have been able to recognize her.

"Speak up," Tonks urged again.

"I have a pair of evil king true eyes, probably similar to the Mad-Eye Han's."

"I can see the world beyond the 'invisible boundary,' so naturally I can see through your disguise, Magus," William said, trying to deceive him.

Tonks, with a playful look that said, "I'd be a fool to believe you," said casually, "You're good at bragging, but if you're so capable, why don't you learn to disguise yourself as Magus?"

"How am I supposed to learn your innate ability? This is bullying!" William rolled his eyes.

"Hehe, let's not talk about that for now, tell me some of the truth."

Tonks leaned closer and put his hand on William's shoulder, acting as if the two were very familiar with each other.

Tonks was that kind of girl—carefree and cheerful—and William didn't pay much attention to it.

She said softly, "William, Director Scrinker is in the principal's office. He's my boss!"

"As for me, I'm still on probation as an Auror. Whether I can be promoted from temporary to permanent depends entirely on your performance."

William looked at Tonks with a puzzled expression.

Tonks blinked and chuckled, "Give me something to get by."

I don't want the stuff everyone already knows... Tell me, who's controlling Quirrell behind the scenes?

"So, Scrimgeour is planning to play the emotional card?" William chuckled.

Scrimgeour knew William wouldn't tell him anything, so he prepared to have Tonks, who had a good relationship with William, try to extract information from him.

They certainly made a clever plan.

"But I really don't know, but I'm pretty sure that Quirrell is the wizard who attacked me at Gringotts," William insisted.

"Do you really think Quirrell is that strong? If he were that strong, would you guys bully him so badly at school?"

Tonks retorted, displeased. "Or do you think I'm an idiot?"

"Who knows?" William shook his head. "Maybe he has masochistic tendencies and enjoys being abused."

Tonks snapped her fingers, sat down in the chair, and stared intently at William.

"Then let's not talk about Quirrell, let's talk about you!"

"What do I have to talk about?"

"There's a whole box full of your file in the Auror office."

It records most of your experiences, including the most recent one, which is that you probably went to the Nicolas Flamel estate with a girl for Christmas.

"The Ministry of Magic is investigating me?" William asked doubtfully. "I haven't broken any laws."

He hadn't heard this information from Bertha.

That's true; the other party only works at the International Magical Exchange and Cooperation Department, so they can't get this kind of intelligence, which is similar to an investigation.

Tonks laughed and said, "Some people are very curious about how a twelve or thirteen-year-old wizard can be so powerful."

William, do you have enemies at the Ministry of Magic?

"Of course. Since you work in the Auror's office, you should know that I had a conflict with Umbridge."

"Everyone knows that, but I don't think she has the ability to mobilize Aurors to investigate you."

William smiled, "This leads to another little piece of information."

Umbridge doesn't have that ability, but she can do it by whispering sweet nothings in Fudge's ear.

According to information William received from Bertha, Umbridge went to work as Fudge's secretary, and their relationship was probably not very healthy.

Of course, it's not necessarily Fudge who's conducting the investigation.

Scrimgeour also tried to win over William, wanting to find out what Dumbledore was up to.

It would be understandable if he investigated secretly.

For example, wasn't this interrogation conducted by Tonks, the intern Auror?

William suddenly asked, "Tonks, why are you telling me all this?"

"Why?" Tonks chuckled smugly. "Although I'm an apprentice Auror, I'm actually secretly working for Dumbledore. He told me to say it!"

William was speechless. The Ministry of Magic really was like a sieve, completely infiltrated by Dumbledore, with his people everywhere.

Or rather... who in the world doesn't know Deng?
