I, Hogwarts Second Time Around.

Chapter 36 Irving, what are you most afraid of?

Chapter 36 Irving, what are you most afraid of?

"There's a giant!!!"

Zacharys Smith was the first to rush out.

He was a tall, thin boy with a pointed nose and blond hair, purebred.

He shared a dorm room with Irving, Justin, and Ernie McMillan.

However, neither Irving nor Justin really liked Zacharys Smith and Ernie McMillan.

It wasn't because they were both pure-bloods, though that was part of it. While they weren't as harsh and sarcastic towards Muggle-born wizards as Slytherins, they weren't exactly friendly either.

Being arrogant is the norm.

More importantly, Zacharys is a very strange person.

He was taciturn and withdrawn. Even within Hufflepuff, he seemed somewhat out of place.

Justin was quite resentful about this, and he often said that even though they were all purebloods, they couldn't compare to a single hair of Hannah's!

"Trolls have taken over our dorm!" Ernie McMillan, disheveled, was the second to rush out.

He panicked, like a startled rabbit, hopping and leaping to hide behind an armchair in the lounge.

"What happened?"

Holding the rose cake in his hands, Irving, who hadn't even had a chance to swallow it yet, was equally baffled.

A troll? It appeared in his room?

What is this?

Is the academic credit transfer here?

Owen, who couldn't figure out the reason no matter how hard he tried, glanced at the other two useless guys, then grabbed his wand and ran into the dormitory.

Damn it, you dare to play dirty tricks on me!

Quirrell must have a death wish!

It would be right to immediately shift the blame to Quirrell without any explanation!

Ever since the troll incident, the child has become somewhat self-destructive.

He's resigned to being Voldemort's servant.

The energetic grave-dancing activities of the past have all disappeared.

Hey!

What a pitiful child.

From an ordinary person's perspective, Quirrell's pursuit of success and wealth is not unreasonable. However, the problem is that not all mistakes can be forgiven. If it weren't for him, Voldemort would still be hiding in the Albanian forest, parasitizing some dying venomous snake.

Even if he were given several more decades, he probably wouldn't have enough strength to make a comeback.

However, due to Quirrell's foolish actions, Voldemort was able to regenerate rapidly. In his third year, he grew to the size of an infant, which was related to his absorption of a large amount of Quirrell's life force.

In any case, Quirrell doesn't deserve pity; he should be held accountable for his actions!

Sigrún has taught at the Iceland University of the Arts as a part-time lecturer since and was Dean of the Department of Fine Art from -. In – she held a research position at Reykjavík Art Museum focusing on the role of women in Icelandic art. She studied fine art at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts and at Pratt Institute, New York, and holds BA and MA degrees in art history and philosophy from the University of Iceland. Sigrún lives and works in Iceland.

From inside the dormitory came the roars of a giant monster and the sound of sticks being struck.

As Irving rushed into the dorm room, he immediately spotted Justin trembling and hiding behind his windowsill.

The child's face was deathly pale, as if his soul had already left his body.

On the other side, right next to his bed, a giant monster as tall as the ceiling was wreaking havoc on his bed frame.

"Where did this beast come from!" Owen roared upon seeing it, raising his wand to finish it off with a single blow. "Show your true form now!"

Suddenly, an absurd scene unfolded.

The once majestic giant suddenly deflated, rapidly shrinking until its body twisted and transformed into his likeness.

Just like the other version of himself he saw that morning.

"Huh?" Owen took a step forward, and the startled 'other self' scurried away in a box by his window.

With a bang, the box closed, and everything settled down.

While repairing his bed, which was no longer recognizable as a bed, Owen was having a frantic brainstorming session.

"Could this be a Boggart?" he vaguely guessed.

This fits both the prank his grandfather mentioned and the fact that this creature can infinitely transform.

But why am I most afraid of myself?

"Is this what the masters mean when they say that a person's true opponent is themselves?"

"What—what is that thing?" After a long while, when no roaring sound came, Justin finally couldn't hold back any longer, poked half his head out, and asked weakly.

"Uh—a Boggart, a Christmas present from my grandfather." Owen tapped the metal box with his wand, then forcefully pried it open.

"What is that?"

"A Boggart? Oh! A magical creature that can shapeshift, it can see into your heart and transform into what you fear most. The spell to defeat a Boggart is the Boggart Banishment Charm 'Humiliation Humiliation,' which transforms the Boggart into whatever you find most comical."

Come to think of it, Justin's greatest fear was actually trolls!

Oh dear! It has left a psychological scar on the child.

Irving felt a little guilty. Why a troll? He could have gotten his hands on other things.

The box was opened again, and another Irving arrived as expected.

"Your greatest fear?" Justin, gripping the edge of the bed, stood up shakily. "Why is your greatest fear yourself?"

"How would I know? Maybe this Boggart is broken." Owen didn't mention that he knew Occlumency. Anyway, the kid wouldn't understand.

For a wizard skilled in Occlumency, changing one's mind is a matter of a single thought, and Boggart would naturally make a mistake because of it.

Although Owen has not yet fully mastered this spell, unlike Snape and Dumbledore.

But it's more than enough to block the gaze of a tiny Boggart.

"I—" Justin's heart trembled. So you know how terrifying you are!

Seeing that Owen simply closed the box again, showing no intention of throwing it away, he hurriedly asked, "You're just going to keep this horrible thing in your dorm room?"

"It's a tradition in wizarding families. Who doesn't have a few magical creatures in their house? There's even a family of ghouls living in the attic of the Ron family." With a slight wave of his wand, the debris on the edge of his bed transformed into a large padlock, which secured the box tightly. Then, Owen kicked the box under his bed.

Do you know what the best way to deal with fear is?

"What?!"

"Face it with a smile!"

The best way to overcome fear is to face it. Keep going! You can do it!

Irving let out a long howl and left, leaving Justin completely bewildered.

For the next few days, he wandered aimlessly around Hogwarts.

One night.

Owen unexpectedly spotted Dumbledore in the hallway.

Even the old principal came out to bask in the sun at dawn!

Guessing that something funny might happen ahead, Irving followed without a second thought.

Then, the old man and the young man, one after the other, arrived at an abandoned classroom on the fifth floor.

"Since you're here, why don't you come and take a look?"

Dumbledore stood in front of a dark object and waved to Owen.

"This is—" Only after walking up did Owen see that it was a very impressive mirror, reaching all the way to the ceiling.

The glasses have an ornate gold frame and are supported by two claw-shaped feet.

The top is inscribed with the words: Erisstra Ehru Ait Ubika Fru Ait Onwochs.

"The Mirror of Eris?"

What is he most afraid of?

Let's guess!
