Chapter 50 A Show of Force

"Please draw the question that will be on your exam!"

In another spacious classroom, a teacher wearing a green Chunin vest spoke to Toshiro, gesturing to a wooden box on the table in front of him.

Without hesitation, he reached into the wooden box and grabbed something. When he pulled his arm out, there was a slip of paper in his palm. He unfolded it and read...

"Transformation Technique"

The second part of this exam is the ninjutsu test. Candidates will draw their test item from a box on the table. The test items are Shadow Clone Technique, Transformation Technique, and Substitution Technique.

"Use the teacher next to me as a reference to perform the transformation!"

Such a simple Three-Body Technique was child's play for him. He casually formed hand seals!

"Boom!"

A puff of smoke dissipated, revealing a figure that was exactly the same as the reference target. Every part of the figure was identical, even the expression was seven or eight parts similar.

Excellent hand seal speed.

Excellent chakra control.

The ninjutsu is highly effective.

At the scene, the teachers in charge of the ninja academy student assessments were busy writing and drawing on their materials. They generously awarded him an excellent score, even though he was already a Chunin. They couldn't find any fault with the transformation jutsu's execution and effects.

He completed these relatively simple exam subjects in a short time. Toshiro then arrived at the outdoor venue specially prepared for the ninja exam.

The next step is the physical skills and combat assessment!

I don't know who my next opponent will be, so I hope it won't be too outrageous!

The taijutsu and combat assessments for ninja graduation are combined. The exam subjects fully embody this simple and brutal characteristic. School teachers act as examiners, attacking the students. The standard for success is to withstand the teacher's attacks for five minutes.

It's important to understand that these instructors, acting as examiners, were all seasoned Chunin in their forties and fifties, possessing extensive experience. While they might not be as physically strong as the younger ninjas, their combat experience far surpassed that of the younger Chunin. Dealing with a group of examinees who weren't even ninjas yet was a piece of cake for them.

Of course, teachers won't go all out; their primary goal is usually testing. Otherwise, even with only five minutes, I believe 90% of the candidates would fail the assessment.

"Uchiha Toshiro, come with me!"

As soon as he stepped into the specially prepared examination room, a ninja came up to Toshiro.

"This is your opponent for this exam, 'Hiromi Mizutani.' You may use any means necessary, including but not limited to ninjutsu, taijutsu, genjutsu, shuriken, and explosive tags. Just hold out for five minutes against his attacks."

"learn!"

With a curt reply, Toshiro looked at his opponent and the few people sitting in the opposite stands.

His opponent, Chunin instructor Hiromi Mizutani, was not tall. However, his hair was somewhat gray, suggesting he was over fifty years old.

A centipede-like wound crawled across his right cheek, adding a touch of ferocity to his appearance. His looks and clothing were unremarkable, but his limbs and frame were rather robust, giving him an air of reliability.

Ninja academies often hire middle-aged and elderly ninjas as instructors. They utilize their rich mission and combat experience to teach the students. This is a job many aging and frail ninjas aspire to. They pass on their combat insights and mission experiences from their ninja careers to the next generation of Konoha, passing on their "Will of Fire."

Meanwhile, five or six spectators sat in the stands. A quick glance revealed that most were unfamiliar, and the Third Hokage was nowhere to be seen. The only one recognizable was a middle-aged man wearing glasses; he was none other than Mitokado Homura, the Konoha Hokage's assistant who had appeared several times in the TV series.

As far as Toshiro knew, this elder of the Mito Gate was mainly in charge of personnel matters in Konoha. He was somewhat like the Minister of Personnel or the Organization Department in his previous life. He was also quite kind-hearted, a stark contrast to the hot-tempered Koharu Utatane and the gloomy Danzo Shimura.

"Both sides form opposing hand seals; the Ninja Academy graduation exams now begin!"

"Shadow Dance Leaf!"

Before the referee, who had just announced the start of the match, could even leave the field.

On the opposite side, Hiromi Mizutani delivered a sharp low kick, almost like a sneak attack, aimed at Toshiro's chin.

[Damn, this is utterly inhumane! Are they trying to intimidate me right from the start?]

"brush!"

Without the slightest hesitation, his body instinctively sidestepped the attack. Then he leaped backward, intending to create distance. At the same time, his right hand reached for his ninja tool pouch behind his waist, preparing a shuriken attack to disrupt the opponent's rhythm.

Such a sudden attack was only possible because Toshiro's senses were sharp enough to detect a slight disturbance beforehand. A more obtuse examinee would likely have been kicked away and then finished off with a series of follow-up attacks.

Leaf Whirlwind

Before Toshiro could even touch his ninja tool pouch, the opponent's follow-up attacks came in quick succession. A powerful spinning high kick was aimed directly at his head. The moves were fluidly executed, and the opponent seemed to have anticipated his reaction.

[This isn't over yet! As expected, anyone who can become a Chunin, especially a veteran Chunin who's lived to be fifty or sixty, is no simpleton!]

[I still lack experience; I didn't expect them to launch a sneak attack!]

He was an office worker living in the city, and although he had trained diligently over the years, mastering ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu, the gap between him and these experienced ninjas in actual combat was still enormous.

"Bang!"

Having given his opponent the first move, Toshiro had no choice but to use a substitution jutsu, leaving behind a wooden stake that had been kicked in two.

This created distance between them.

"Swish! Swish! Swish!"

They were more than ten meters apart.

He then wielded four shuriken in each hand and launched an attack, aiming to disrupt his opponent's rhythm and create an opportunity for his next strike.

He had already planned it out before the exam. In this exam, he would only use some common martial arts, shuriken, or some three-body techniques taught at school.

Although the relationship between the clan and Konoha has been quite good over the years, it's always good to keep something in reserve!

After a flurry of shuriken attacks, he didn't rest and launched his own attack.

Suddenly, four Toshiro, each wielding a kubi, charged toward Mizutani Hiromi.

The "Clone Technique" is used to confuse opponents during attacks; it's a fairly simple and practical method.
