Konoha: This Uchiha is extremely sneaky
Chapter 15 Hunting
Chapter 15 Hunting
In the dark forest, the dense trees blocked the sunlight from shining down from the sky. The dappled light filtering through the leaves and casting shadows on the trees made the forest seem less eerie.
800 meters away from the trap set by Uchiha Toshiro.
Uchiha Toshiro and his friends hid behind a large tree, cautiously peeking out to observe a wild beast in the forest.
After the traps were set, Uchiha Toshiro and his group of six split into three groups and began searching the forest.
Just moments ago, Uchiha En and Uchiha Mamoru discovered this wild boar. Overjoyed but also realizing their own inadequacy to handle it alone, the two quickly split up and found two other groups of companions, leading to the scene we see now.
Peeking through the gaps in the forest, Uchiha Toshiro secretly estimated that the wild boar was quite large, weighing over 300 kilograms. It had thick mane covered in a thick layer of mud.
The faint amber glow emanating from it revealed that the surface must have been coated with a layer of resin that the wild boar had rubbed off from the tree, forming a thick armor that enveloped its entire body.
Its two enormous fangs were extremely aggressive, but they were merely objects to be thrown. A shuriken would hardly inflict any real damage. Its weak points were probably only its abdomen, eyes, and that area.
After silently calculating for a moment, he gestured to his companions beside him. Receiving their response, he waved back, ready to take action.
Hand signals and coded language are usually learned gradually after attending ninja academies. However, for the sake of playing "Werewolf" better... the clan members secretly obtained the ninja academy's textbooks and studied them diligently. Whenever they played, the werewolves used these signals to communicate, preventing their chakra-possessed companions from noticing their abilities.
"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!"
The sound of the kunai whistling through the air after being thrown shattered the silence of the forest.
At this moment, the wild boar, the prey, was lowering its head and nudging a protrusion under the tree roots with its snout. Its long, thin tail was swishing back and forth, appearing quite pleased. It seemed as if it was about to unearth some delicious food and then devour it, completely unaware of the approaching danger.
Hearing the noise, the wild boar raised its head and swung its two huge tusks. With a clang, the sound of metal clashing rang out, and only three of the four kunai that were originally aimed at it remained.
"Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!"
The kunai were launched in a very coordinated manner, with the three kunai hitting the target almost in a single burst, but unfortunately the effect was less than satisfactory.
One kunai struck the head, one the back, and the other the forelimbs. Unfortunately, the mud, bristles, and resin on the wild boar's skin prevented them from penetrating the flesh; they were less than a centimeter deep.
"Hmph! Hmph!"
The wild boar shook its body, easily shaking off the several kunai (Japanese halberds) attached to it. It looked at the strange animals opposite it with a mixture of confusion and anger.
For a creature with such slow reflexes, the attack wasn't much of a tickle, but it didn't cause much damage either. Meanwhile, its good mood, about to be interrupted, was dampened.
"Aim your shuriken at his eyes!" Just then, Uchiha Toshiro shouted a reminder and launched another wave of attacks with four shuriken in each hand.
For wild boars, the damage caused by kunai thrown by kids their age is negligible, forcing Uchiha Toshiro to change his strategy.
The whistling sound of the shuriken cutting through the air startled it, and almost instinctively it lowered its head, using its hard forehead and the thick layer of armor on top of it to defend against the sudden attack.
Unlike the relatively heavy kunai, kids like Uchiha Toshiro and his friends can launch multiple shuriken at once.
With a loud "roar," the wild boar let out a desperate scream; its left eye had been slashed.
An unknown person fired a shuriken, which spun rapidly, tracing a precise arc. It grazed past his eye, the protruding spike piercing his thin eyelid and injuring his eyeball.
The wild boar let out its characteristic roar, shaking its head violently in an attempt to expel the sudden, excruciating pain. Its right eye was bloodshot, and it was consumed by rage.
Ding!Ding!Ding!
The wild boar, its eyes reddened by pain, stepped over the kunai and shuriken that had fallen to the ground and charged toward Uchiha Toshiro and his companions.
"Proceed according to plan!"
In an instant, the four people remaining scattered. One led the way, another stood in front to attract the wild boar's attention, and the remaining two positioned themselves to the side and rear of the boar, creating blind spots to prevent it from escaping.
With a raging wild boar following behind, Uchiha En was understandably nervous, being the bait for the first time. However, the meticulous plan devised by his companions gave him a much-needed boost of confidence, calming him down considerably. Though not perfect, he successfully played the role of bait.
"Is this guy too nervous? This isn't the first time he's hunted with us..." Our protagonist, Uchiha Toshiro, leisurely lagged behind the boar. He casually remarked, watching Uchiha Homura flee ahead, his movements somewhat distorted.
Toshiro Uchiha didn't eagerly volunteer for the task of acting as bait during a hunt. In his view, proper training was essential. Right now, they could barely handle a wild boar. Even if they got injured, it wouldn't be too serious. But on the day they actually went to the battlefield, it wouldn't be just a matter of getting injured.
As time went on, the wild boars that were chasing closely behind would occasionally slow down or look back.
At this point, Uchiha En, acting as bait, had to stop or slow down, making various provocative gestures towards the wild boar, or drawing his shuriken to launch another attack.
The accuracy of the shuriken was ridiculously poor; one shot even grazed past Uchiha Toshiro's shoulder.
"Be careful~ That guy Yan is probably scared to death. He's so nervous that his hands and feet are almost unresponsive. Don't get hurt by his shuriken!" She reminded her friend beside her, and also made fun of Uchiha Yan's clumsy performance.
The 800-meter distance wasn't far; the chase would be over in the blink of an eye. Uchiha Mori, who was leading the way, suddenly turned around and ran alongside Uchiha Yan. While running, he whispered something in Yan's ear.
Meanwhile, further ahead, Uchiha Ryuka and his companions, who were participating in the hunt for the first time, had been waiting for a long time.
