Chapter 14 Two Years

The spring breeze swept the sky clean, and the warm sunshine scattered its light, illuminating the people moving about on the street.

The sky was clear and the air was crisp; it was a lovely day.

At the main gate of the Uchiha compound, a red torii gate bearing the clan crest stands majestically. On the street paved with rectangular stone slabs, many ninjas dressed in Konoha police uniforms flash by as they cross the street and enter Konoha.

Many members of the tribe went out shopping or strolled around, going in and out of the shops. Some returned with bags full of purchases, while others went empty-handed. They continued their search for the next target, and a subtle sense of daily life permeated the air.

A group of Uchiha clan brats walked in small groups from a distance, looking relaxed, each carrying a bulging bag, and making a lot of noise along the way.

Uchiha Toshiro wore a black high-necked long-sleeved shirt, with a striking red and white fan behind him. He wore matching trousers, a ninja tool pouch tied around his waist, white leg guards wrapped around his calves, and a two-foot-long katana in his hand.

At six years old, Uchiha Toshiro was already quite a young man. Reasonable physical training and ample nutrition had made him over 120 centimeters tall and weighing nearly 30 kilograms. He looked remarkably robust, like a young calf, standing out among his peers.

After bidding farewell to the elders who had warmly greeted them along the way, and the two Uchiha ninjas standing guard in front of the torii gate, they walked out of the gate and continued on their way. The trees on both sides of the road were all evergreen, remaining green even in winter.

They were all teenagers, chatting and laughing as they walked through Konoha's bustling main street, heading southwest. After half an hour, they arrived at their destination.

This is a scenic river valley. The slopes at the foot of the mountains on both sides are covered with large patches of tricolor wildflowers, a mix of colors, with the stamens just beginning to open. Further up, there are also pink camellias, creating a dazzling and colorful spectacle.

A white torrent rushes out of the gorge between the two mountains, carrying melted ice fragments, gushing and meandering through the valley. The flat valley floor along the riverbank is the destination of this outing.

This is the "Nanka River," the source of Konoha Village's drinking water, from which a large portion of the village relies. Although it has gradually been replaced by tap water to ensure drinking water safety and prevent enemy ninjas from poisoning the water, its role remains crucial.

In the near future, this area will become the new base of the Uchiha clan. Shisui Uchiha, possessing the strongest genjutsu, Kotoamatsukami, will commit suicide by drowning himself here. With his death, the "filial son," Itachi Uchiha, will raise his sword for the sake of Konoha, and for his beloved "Little Bean," to sound the final lament for this thousand-year-old clan.

Upon arriving at our destination, we chose a lush green meadow as our campsite. A large group of about twenty kids gathered in small groups. Some carried their fishing rods and nets towards the river. There were also girls, in twos and threes, running towards the wildflowers, picking their favorite blossoms, or playing different card games—it was quite a lively scene.

Meanwhile, Uchiha Toshiro found a flat patch of grass, plopped down, and began to enjoy the warm spring sunshine.

He glanced casually at the card game playing not far away. The kid wasn't limited to Werewolf anymore. He was also playing Tractor, Upgrading, Texas Hold'em, and many other variations. He taught everyone all sorts of games and incorporated them into their games to pass the time.

He also earned his second nickname after "Winter Lion Wolf": "Poker Prince".

"Such warm and happy times always pass by in the blink of an eye. I hope everyone can cherish them..." I sighed silently to myself.

After a while, Uchiha Toshiro, feeling lazy and sleepy from being bathed in sunlight, slowly stood up and patted the dust off his buttocks.

"Anyone want to come into the woods with me?" Uchiha Toshiro asked loudly, glancing at his friends who were playing amongst themselves. He held a small katana in one hand.

"I"

"I"

Count me in!

Suddenly, followers gathered, and compared to playing with their friends by the river, entering the forest gave these kids a sense of novelty and exploration of the unknown.

"Firework is no good. Firework's chakra control is terrible; he can't even climb a tree to avoid danger!"

"Dragonfire is good. I saw him practicing climbing trees very seriously last time."

Uchiha Toshiro led four or five children toward the forest along the southern riverbank.

The forests surrounding Konoha are vast and exceptionally deep. They are rich in resources, including various rare medicinal herbs and valuable timber. They are also teeming with venomous snakes and ferocious beasts.

Of course, he didn't plan to take his companions too deep into the forest. He and his companions weren't strong enough to handle the dangers within.

This area is close to the edge of Konoha, so there are basically no large wild animals or poisonous insects. However, pheasants, rabbits, and occasionally even wild boars can be seen from time to time.

Uchiha Toshiro led the group of kids into the forest for more than ten minutes, found a clearing, and stopped. At the same time, he directed his companions to start setting up traps.

Another figure, panting heavily, ran towards them.

"How's it going? Nobody followed us, right?"

"No! Two people wanted to come along, but they were stopped by Flame~" The newcomer was named Uchiha Mamoru, and he was a year older than him. Since it was spring break at the Ninja Academy, he had mingled with them.

Such outings and hunting trips have been held several times. Every time it's time to hunt, there are always some kids who weren't allowed to participate, sneaking around behind him. If it weren't for Uchiha Toshiro's adult mindset and prior preparation, he might have been fooled and managed to sneak over.

That would be far too dangerous. Although there aren't any ferocious beasts around Konoha, the danger of a five or six-year-old child recklessly venturing in is self-evident.

Therefore, Uchiha Toshiro set a very simple standard: at least they must be able to master the chakra control technique of "tree climbing" before he would allow his friends to join.

Only in this way could they quickly climb trees to escape danger. He also asked Uchiha Homura to keep an eye on things, lest some disobedient brats sneak up and follow them.

Homura Uchiha, the daughter of what's supposedly the head of the clan's First Division, is the same "genius girl" who underwent ninja training alongside Toshiro Uchiha. She even successfully refined her chakra on her very first night, placing her among the top performers of her age...
