Hogwarts: I'm Harry's older cousin

Chapter 7.7. Mrs. Figg Next Door

Chapter 7.7. Mrs. Figg Next Door

"Mom, I think we can take care of ourselves." Dali frowned as he looked at his parents.

Vernon's work has recently taken a significant turn for the better. Groning Company has arranged for him to go to Germany on a business trip to negotiate a large order. If he can successfully sign the contract, he will be promoted to sales manager. However, the trip is expected to take about three months.

Logically, only Vernon was on a business trip, while Penny could stay home and take care of Daddy and the others. However, Vernon was a Penny darling; if he didn't see Penny when he got home each day, he was guaranteed to be drowsy and listless the next day, and his work efficiency would plummet.

So Penny had to go with him, but luckily the company would reimburse the expenses.

"Honey, you're still a child," Penny said seriously.

Upon hearing this, Dali rolled his eyes inwardly.

Have you ever seen a 10-year-old child win a high school boxing championship?

This is the championship that Dali recently won. Hmm, it's different from last year's junior high level championship; this is the high school level.

"Harry and I are both ten years old. In other worlds, we'd be old enough to have our own starter elf and travel the world."

Dudley thought to himself.

"I can cook and do laundry myself; I mean, we can take care of ourselves."

Dali argued his case based on reason.

"Dullie, we're not going for a day or two, we're going for three whole months. I won't leave my child home alone." Whether intentionally or unintentionally, Penny selectively ignored Harry again.

"I won't let you be alone with this freak either."

Vernon also emphasized that the word "freak" naturally referred to Harry, and of course, he said this in front of Petunia: "Who knows if this freak will turn you into one of him?"

"I'd love to be a wizard, I dream about it."

"Then I won't go to Aunt Maggie's, absolutely not!"

Dudley said firmly and forcefully, emphasizing the first word he learned at birth: "Never."

Maggie Dursley was Vernon's sister and Dudley's aunt. The Dursley family's life improved thanks to her help. Dudley was very grateful to his aunt, but he absolutely could not live with Aunt Maggie for three months.

It's not that Aunt Maggie dislikes Dudley; on the contrary, she likes Dudley very much and always pinches his round little face hard whenever they meet.

However, their lifestyles were too different.

Maggie owns twelve bulldogs, but that's not the key point. The key point is that she loves and values these bulldogs more than she does people.

In other words, to live with her, you first have to put up with eating and sleeping with these twelve bulldogs, and secondly, you have to tolerate the possibility of dog saliva in your food bowl at any time.

Dudley likes dogs, but he doesn't like eating dog saliva.

Seeing Dudley's resolute attitude, Vernon and Penny exchanged bewildered glances.

They also knew that letting Dudley and Maggie live together would definitely cause problems.

"How about we take Dudley with us to Germany?"

"But what about the costs and Dali's studies?"

The two began to communicate with their eyes.

Seeing that his parents' attitude had softened, Dudley quickly suggested, "I can wait for you with Harry at Mrs. Figg's next door."

Going to Germany is impossible for him; there's no point in doing it because of the language barrier. He might as well stay with Harry and take advantage of him.

Mrs. Figg, whose full name is Arabella Figg, was a kind and energetic little old lady who liked to wear a knitted hood. She lived two blocks away from the Dursleys. Although it was two blocks away, they were not much different from the neighbors.

When the Dursleys went out or went on vacation, they would entrust her with the care of Harry.

Perhaps because they often took care of Harry for free, the Dursleys and Mrs. Figg had a good relationship.

"Dali, we're going to be gone for three whole months, and we won't be able to come back during that time," Penny tried to persuade Duli, but Duli's attitude was very firm.

If he can't go to Mrs. Figg's house and can't stay home by himself, then he can only go to Aunt Maggie's house.

How is Dali supposed to eat now?

Food protector Dali will never compromise.

After arguing for a while, Dudley still wouldn't budge, so Vernon and Penny had no choice but to entrust Mrs. Figg with their care.

Harry, who was a little sad about not being able to live in his little house for three months, felt much better when he heard that he could live with his cousin Dudley.

Seemingly noticing Harry's delight, Vernon laboriously bent down with his chubby body, pointed at Harry, and said, "I'm warning you, kid. Even if we're not here, you won't hurt Dudley, you won't hurt my family. Just let me know you know the consequences."

As he spoke, he defiantly raised his arm, which was thicker than Harry's waist.

Harry didn't understand, but he still nodded obediently.

Harry may not remember, but when he was very young, some strange things happened, whether it was due to a magical outburst or some other stimulus. Dudley's physique wasn't as strong as it is now, so he got injured.

Vernon may not have been a good uncle, but he was definitely a good husband and a good father.

Mrs. Figg's house was decorated in a very old-fashioned style. The overall size of the house was not much different from that of the Dursleys, but the style was completely different. The environment was a little dark, and the furniture was very simple. Apart from the fireplace with a burning flame, there was only a simple sofa, a table and a few chairs in the living room.

There were no electronic products, not even a radio that the elderly liked to use.

Antiques.

This is Dursley's assessment of Mrs. Figg.

A pungent cat smell lingered in the air, sometimes present and sometimes absent. Whether it was pungent or not was subjective; at least Dudley didn't find it pungent.

Vernon disliked the smell, so he didn't come in. Everything was handled by Penny and Mrs. Figg.

Mrs. Figg readily agreed to help take care of Dudley and Harry.

Before leaving, Penny slipped some money to Mrs. Figg.

Harry could shamelessly ask Mrs. Figg to take care of him for free, since he doesn't eat much anyway. But if Dudley is added to the mix, it won't work. Dudley probably eats more in a day than Mrs. Figg does in a week.

Three months. Even if Dursley had the thickest skin, he wouldn't have done something like that.

Besides, the Dursleys have a pretty good reputation on these streets, well, only among ordinary families.

After Penny and Vernon left, Dudley, familiar with the place, began searching around Mrs. Figg's house. Suddenly, his eyes lit up, and with remarkable agility, he caught a passing kitten.

Amidst the kitten's desperate gaze, Dali buried his chubby face in Yin Qian's belly and took several deep breaths.

Then, with a look of contentment on his face, he let out a groan full of pleasure.

"Ah~~~ Xue'er is so good to suck."

Judging from his actions, this was clearly not the first time Dali had done something like this.
