Hogwarts: I'm Harry's older cousin
Chapter 6 Harry, We're Brothers
Chapter 6. Harry, We're Brothers (Please vote!)
Since changing jobs, Vernon Dursley's business has been booming, growing bigger and stronger, as evidenced by the number of appliances he's recently acquired and the frequency with which his family changes their clothes.
"Oh, my dear Dali, what do you think of this outfit I bought for you?"
Penny held up a black and white checkered shirt to Dudley, which was already the largest size in the store: "Try it on, it'll definitely fit you perfectly."
Penny's taste is truly amazing in the "black and white checkered shirt".
"Aunt Petunia." Harry happened to push open the door at that moment, and called out weakly when he saw Petunia, his eyes lingering on Dudley or rather, on his new clothes for a few more seconds.
What you can easily obtain may be something others desperately want.
For Harry, who is currently staying at Aunt Petunia's house, being able to eat his fill every day is already a blessing; new clothes are a luxury he can only dream of.
Harry hid it well; Dallie isn't blind.
Putting aside the fact that he was just hanging around the Savior doing quests, Dudley felt quite sorry for Harry.
Harry lost his parents shortly after birth and was raised by his aunt who didn't treat him well. Growing up in such an environment, Harry was used to reading people's faces and was so sensible that it was heartbreaking.
All Dali could do was try to be nice to him as much as possible.
"Mom, where's Harry's?"
In fact, Dudley knew that his mother's feelings for Harry were very special, not just pure dislike. Dudley had seen Petunia staring blankly at Harry's back, or staring intently into Harry's eyes, her eyes revealing a complex expression—longing, memories, grief, all sorts of emotions, but no disgust.
Of course, this is a very rare occurrence; most of the time, Petunia doesn't give Harry a friendly look.
His father, Vernon, was the same; he kept calling Harry a freak, a freak, but he mostly did so in front of his mother.
Of course, if Petunia wasn't there, Vernon wouldn't have paid any attention to Harry.
"Haha, Harry has one too." Petunia reluctantly took out a similar style of clothing, but two sizes too small, from her handbag and handed it to Harry, saying without much emotion, "This is yours."
Harry happily accepted the clothes, completely ignoring Petunia's attitude. After all, he had new clothes, and more importantly, they were the same as Dudley's.
With Dudley acting as a mediator, the four family members actually got along quite well, and Harry's living conditions weren't too bad.
"Do you like it? But you'll have to wait a little longer before you can wear it."
Dudley walked up to Harry, patted him on the shoulder, and seeing his puzzled look, said, "Have you forgotten? We agreed to tidy up your room today. Don't you always complain to me that dust settles in your room whenever someone comes upstairs?"
"It would be such a waste to wear new clothes now and get them dirty later."
As Dudley spoke, he took a toolbox from a drawer, put his arm around Harry's neck, and walked toward his "hut".
It's called a hut, but it's really just a closet under the stairs.
That's Harry's room.
This busy period involved banging and hammering all day long.
With the system's LV2 decoration ability as a bonus, Dali's hands-on skills are quite good. After his efforts, it at least looks more like a small room.
When Harry pushed open the door again, his eyes widened in disbelief.
Is this really the dark, cold, dusty closet where I used to live, where I was always accompanied by spiders?
It's not so much a complete upheaval as a dramatic transformation; it's just a completely different story.
Dudley installed nightlights in the room, soft yet not glaring, meaning Harry would no longer have to endure darkness at night. The walls were freshly painted and new wallpaper was added, along with a false ceiling, signifying Harry would no longer have to worry about dust falling from above. Even the bed was replaced with new, soft, and comfortable bedding. Furthermore, Dudley added some small decorations to the room, even employing some decorating techniques from his previous life to make the room more three-dimensional.
What a cozy little house.
Thanks to Dali's meticulous arrangement, apart from the room being a bit small, it looks fantastic no matter how you look at it, especially in an era when interior design hadn't yet developed a distinct style.
Harry was deeply moved when he saw Dudley's face, still covered in dust and his chubby face shrouded in a layer of gray.
My cousin, who is usually a bit fierce and stingy, is so kind and approachable right now.
Harry was deeply moved, especially since it was just a casual complaint that the other person remembered.
"The decorations alone must have cost a lot of money. I've seen that little cactus ornament before; it cost a whole pound. Decorating these must have drained Dudley's entire savings."
The kindness Dudley had shown him in the past was gradually surfacing in Harry's mind.
"Thank you, Brother D."
Dudley was slightly taken aback upon hearing this, scratching his head with his dirty hand, seemingly not expecting that the usually taciturn Harry would thank him.
This is a good start.
"What are you thanking me for? We're brothers."
"We're brothers, even if our bones are broken, we're still connected by blood. There's no need to be so polite between family members."
Dali wiped the sweat from his face, which made his face even more smudged because his hands were also dirty.
"Brothers, family." Little Harry didn't pay attention to this, just kept repeating these two words, his tone becoming more and more firm as he spoke.
If the whole world treats you badly, but only one person treats you well, that person will definitely occupy a major place in your heart.
Dudley patted Harry on the shoulder and said meaningfully, "If you ever become successful, Harry, you certainly won't forget your cousin, right?"
"D-bro, you'll definitely be better than me in the future," Harry said with a good sense of self-awareness.
The boy in front of me is simply an all-rounder. Whether it is academic performance, sports or anything else, he is far superior to ordinary people. If it weren't for his infamous reputation as a food guard, he would definitely be the most popular figure among girls in the whole school.
Compared to Dudley, Harry, who was practically invisible at school, felt utterly ashamed.
"Everyone has their own expertise, and you can't be sure about these things." He's a complete freak right now, and even if he's physically fit, he's just a slightly stronger freak, at least from this world's perspective.
Aside from slightly enhancing Dudley's physical abilities, Matou Shinji's magician physique had no other effect.
There was no magical rampage whatsoever.
Dudley believed that even if he became a wizard in the future, he would still need his little cousin's care. Harry's magical talent and skill were by no means low, and he was the protagonist.
Maintaining good relationships is absolutely beneficial.
"Improve the young savior's living conditions and receive one free item draw as a reward."
Hearing the heavenly music in his ears, Dali's face lit up with joy.
Gaining goodwill and rewards is a win-win situation.
Well, thankfully Harry doesn't know about this.
"Come on, Harry. I'll treat you to ice cream."
In a great mood, Dudley gave Harry's messy hair a good rub.
"Okay, Brother D. But you shouldn't have it."
Dudley saw right through Harry's thoughts as soon as he opened his mouth, and continued to ruffle Harry's soft, messy hair: "Don't worry, my little cousin, your big cousin can still afford to buy you an ice cream."
The ice cream was sweet, and Harry's heart was warmed too.
Thinking about it carefully, my older cousin isn't stingy at all. Although he sometimes makes me run errands, he also often treats me to good food.
When someone is wronged, they are the first to stand up for themselves.
In short, it feels so good to be pampered by your older brother!
When you think someone is good, then whatever they do is good.
Penny watched the two brothers walk away arm in arm, their backs to each other. Her thoughts drifted back to many, many years ago, to when she and her own sister were just as close. They would share everything they had, and talk all night about the future and their dreams, until the day 11-year-old Lily received her acceptance letter.
From then on, they became people from two different worlds.
Penny finally let out a sigh, shook her head almost imperceptibly, and went into her room.
