Chapter 14 War Conference

"It's really exciting."

Hawking glanced instinctively at the abyss ahead and was instantly captivated.

At eleven or twelve years old, the body has already begun to enter puberty, and coupled with the soul of an adult from a previous life, it's inevitable that there will be some reaction to this beautiful scenery so close at hand.

Perhaps this is the benefit of being reborn as a child.

Everything will be alright.

Finally, Storm patted Hawking on the head and stood up.

In her opinion, what bad intentions could a child possibly have? She didn't even think about it that much.

At this moment, Hawking realized what was happening, coughed somewhat awkwardly, and then said:

"Piot has not been able to contact the professor. Yesterday's group's main target was the brainwave enhancement machine, based on what Logan told me about the professor's abilities and the function of the brainwave enhancement machine."

I suspect those people have already kidnapped the professor and want to use him and the brainwave enhancement machine for something.

Everyone was stunned when they heard Hawking's analysis, which was so close to the truth.

At this moment, Logan walked up to Hawking and introduced him:

"Don't underestimate Hawking. He took down most of the invading soldiers yesterday, and even destroyed ten combat helicopters."

Without his help, it would have been quite troublesome for me to handle it all by myself.

Therefore, I suggest that we bring him along to the upcoming meetings and activities!

Hawking had spoken with him that morning, asking for a lot of information and making his own guesses and judgments, most of which matched the information Magneto had brought.

Adding to yesterday's shared experience of fighting side by side, he truly felt he could bring Hawking along.

Of course, it certainly wasn't because Hawking threatened to tell the professor about the two of them smoking and drinking together the previous night that he agreed to speak up for him.

"What an extraordinary elite!"

Upon hearing Wolverine's words, Magneto looked at Hawking with eyes full of admiration, wishing he could immediately recruit him into his Brotherhood of Mutants and train him properly.

With such strength and wisdom at such a young age, he will definitely be an elite among elites when he grows up.

If he can be won over, he will become another important general under his command.

"But he's still a child."

Storm and Jean Grey, the two female teachers, clearly did not agree with letting Hawking, a child, participate in the dangerous mission ahead, even though Hawking had great abilities.

In their eyes, no matter how capable a child is, they are still a child and should not be sent to the battlefield.

"He's no ordinary kid; he's a soldier. In my opinion, he's far more suitable for the upcoming operation than you hothouse flowers raised by Charles!"

Magneto stepped forward and said.

He said this partly to increase Hawking's goodwill towards him. What strong-willed children lack most is a sense of recognition. As long as they feel that you recognize them, they will unconsciously gravitate towards you.

On the other hand, he genuinely believed this. Apart from Wolverine, he saw the other X-Men as mere babies. Although their abilities had been well developed under Charles's guidance, they were not ruthless enough.

To leave room for maneuver in one's actions, even against enemies, is too naive, just like Charles.

If Charles had been as ruthless as him and killed him after capturing him, the Brotherhood of Mutants would have been wiped out long ago.

"A hothouse flower? I don't know who lost the last battle on Freedom Island and has been imprisoned ever since."

Wolverine raised his right hand and extended his middle metal claw toward Magneto, as if giving the middle finger.

Magneto simply smiled when he saw this:

"You still don't learn your lesson."

Because Wolverine is made entirely of adamantium, his powers are naturally countered; he can make Wolverine wish he were dead at any time if he wants to.

Mystique stepped forward and touched Wolverine's chin, then snuggled up to Magneto and said mockingly:

"You guys won't always be that lucky."

"Well... I don't think now is the time to bring up past grievances, but rather to think about how to rescue the professor, right?"

Seeing the tension rising, Hawking quickly stepped in to smooth things over.

Hearing that even a child like Hawking had said such a thing, it was indeed difficult for both sides to continue arguing.

"That makes sense. For the safety of Charles and all mutants, we really need to cooperate this time."

Magneto nodded.

Wolverine also retracted his claws.

Hawking then stepped forward, grabbing Storm with one hand and Phoenix with the other, and said:

"Teachers, I know you mean well, but the situation is special. For the professor, for the school, for all mutants, including my sister and brother, I must join."

And please rest assured, I grew up in a war-torn country like Sokovia, so I'm very good at fighting and protecting myself. If there's any real danger, I'll protect myself.

Seeing Hawking's determined gaze, Storm and Phoenix exchanged a glance and finally nodded helplessly.

They could only sigh inwardly, "What a wonderful child!"

"Remember, that old man over there is a big bad guy, so don't listen to him too much."

Storm crouched down, leaned close to Hawking's ear, and whispered something while pointing at Magneto.

She feared that Hawking was still young and might be misled by Magneto's unorthodox theories.

"Don't worry, I'm not that easily fooled by that old man."

Hawking smiled and winked.

So everyone went to the conference room that Colossus had prepared beforehand to discuss the next course of action.

At the start of the meeting, Magneto revealed all the information he knew.

"That's how it is. The information I have now is that Stryker has built a new brainwave enhancement room at his base. This time, he probably stole the brainwave enhancement host in order to completely perfect it."

If he were to control Charles and use the brainwave enhancement machine to kill all mutants, then all of you except me would die.

However, I cannot yet determine the exact location of Stryker's experimental base.

Finally, Magneto tapped the helmet on his head.

His helmet can block Professor X's mental intrusion, and it can also block mental attacks.

The message is clear: even in the worst-case scenario, he will be fine, so the X-Men should be the ones who are more worried. He is a friend who came to help out of kindness, and we should trust him.

"However, one of you should know."

"The professor has tried, but I still can't recover my memories."

Wolverine frowned.

According to Magneto, he was once captured by Stryker and reformed at that experimental facility, but he has lost those memories.

"Oh, so you feel like everything is related to you?"

Magneto gave Wolverine a mocking smile.

"The old man must be referring to him."

At this point, Hawking spoke, pointing to the Nightcrawler.

"Since he was controlled by Stryker to attack the president, he most likely visited the experimental base. If Professor Jean can use her telepathic abilities to read his memories, she might be able to find clues about the base."

Only by appropriately demonstrating one's wisdom can one gain a certain degree of influence in subsequent actions; otherwise, people will still treat him like a child.
