Magical Studies at Hogwarts...

Chapter 82 Course Selection

Chapter 82 Course Selection

Snape must have spoken to Dumbledore, because the next day Ike clearly felt that the castle's security was tighter.

In the corridors, at stairwell corners, and near rarely visited abandoned classrooms, many armored figures have appeared, holding spears and axes, standing motionless. When there's no trouble, these armored figures are merely decorations, but when needed, they become fearless warriors.

Filch became even more elusive, always appearing in secluded places and hurling insults at wandering young wizards. Of course, most of the young wizards thought Filch was just venting his emotions.

Just like he usually does.

To be honest, Ike had no idea where to find Comrade Xiaofu. The bitter consequences of the plot change gave him a huge headache, and he didn't even have a single reliable guess.

But one thing is certain: Little Voldemort's ultimate target is him, so Ike deliberately keeps to himself, hoping that Little Voldemort will be unable to resist jumping out and attacking him.

Unfortunately, Xiao Fu is not the tyrannical Lao Fu, and he doesn't have any serious intellectual deficiencies. He won't fall for such an obvious trick.

Every night, Michael and Anthony would come to Ike's dorm. They were also constantly watching for anything unusual in their surroundings. But like Ike, they found nothing.

Ike could clearly see that Comrade Xiao Fu's threat had left them somewhat disoriented. This increased their anxiety, even affecting their normal studies.

During Potions class, Ike got the ingredients wrong and nearly caused the cauldron to explode. Snape was furious about this, giving him a sarcastic rebuke and deducting 10 points from Ravenclaw's score.

That evening, after Ike returned to his dormitory after his routine tour of the castle, he immediately saw Stuart and the other three sitting neatly in chairs, all with serious expressions.

"Ike, sit down first," Terry said, pointing to a chair.

"What's wrong?" Ike forced a smile and looked at the four people who were still serious.

"You need to rest, Ike," Stewart advised. "In just one week, you nearly blew up the cauldron in Potions class. That's not like you."

“Everyone is anxious,” Terry continued, “but you don’t need to make yourself so stressed.”

"You go out every night while we're asleep, don't you?"

Seeing Ike nod, Terry continued, "We all know you're eager to catch that bad guy, but you should know this isn't going to be easy."

"You're wasting your time, Ike, without even a clue."

"I know, but this time is different from before, he really will..." Ike was interrupted by Stewart before he could finish. Stewart took out a viewing mirror from his pocket and said, "It will hurt people, right? But you were prepared in advance; you gave us this viewing mirror."

"Unless it's broken, we're still safe."

"But it didn't react last time..." Ike said.

“His target wasn’t us last time, Ike,” Terry said. “You probably didn’t bring your spyglass that day.”

Ike was silent for a moment, then lowered his head slightly. After a long while, he raised his head again and said, "I understand. Don't worry, I'll be careful. What happened in Potions class won't happen again."

"That's good." Stuart clapped his hands, a smile spreading across his face. "Now, get some rest! You need a good night's sleep!"

"Maybe I'll wake up with a clue?"

Ike wanted to tell them that his sleep quality was actually excellent, that the Stunning Curse was incredibly powerful, and that the accident in Potions class was simply because he was thinking about something at the time. However, seeing the four faces that revealed a hint of worry, he ultimately didn't say anything.

I slept soundly through the night, but the next day, as Stewart had predicted, no clues popped up on their own. It was just another ordinary day like any other.

Ike relaxed a little, and stopped deliberately wandering around the castle. He realized that he had made a very serious mistake.

Don't believe in other people's abilities...

Transmigrators are not omnipotent and cannot do everything well. In terms of spellcasting alone, Ike is indeed stronger than many seventh-year wizards, but he is still far behind professors like Snape and Flitwick, not to mention Dumbledore. His duel with Snape at the Dueling Club already illustrates this point.

In this world, there are so-called "chosen ones".

More than a month passed peacefully, with the flowers, trees, and shrubs of Hogwarts remaining lush and green, and nothing unexpected happening. This tranquility even gave Ike the illusion that Voldemort wouldn't cause any more trouble.

On the first Sunday of April, when Ike, Stuart, and the others returned from the auditorium, they suddenly found a parchment on their bedside table. Picking it up, they discovered it was a course selection schedule.

"Is it already this late?" Stuart looked at his parchment. "I almost forgot, we'll be third year in the fall."

"Divination class, arithmetic divination class, magical creature conservation, ancient runes and Muggle studies—Ike, Terry, which would you choose?"

Without hesitation, Ike checked off all five courses and handed the parchment to Stuart. Stuart took it, glanced at it, and immediately exclaimed in surprise, "You actually chose them all?"

"Of course," Ike nodded.

"But Roger told me that many of these courses conflict with each other!"

"I think the professors will solve this problem," Ike laughed. "Besides, it's not like no one has ever done it before."

"Alright." Stuart handed Ike's parchment back, having thought about it for a long time before finally ticking off the Divination class and Muggle studies.

"I think these two are more suitable for me. I've heard that it's very easy to get an O in Divination, and Muggle Studies is even easier—I come from a Muggle family!"

After saying that, Stuart leaned closer to Terry and asked, "You chose Divination, Ancient Runes, and Magical Creatures Protection?"

Before Terry could reply, Stewart had already hooked up the magical creatures protection on his parchment again.

"You all chose so many, wouldn't it make me seem like I'm standing out if I chose so few?"

Ike and Terry were both amused by Stuart's antics, laughing for quite a while before stopping. Stuart didn't seem to mind, waiting until they finished laughing before asking, "Shall we send it to Professor Flitwick now?"

"Of course," Terry replied. "And aren't you curious how the professor plans to resolve the conflict between Ike's classes?"

The three of them left the dormitory chatting and laughing, and happened to run into Michael and the others in the common room, so they decided to leave together.

Upon arriving at Professor Flitwick's office, the professor was talking to Padma and two other girls. Seeing Ike and the others enter, he immediately waved and said, "Gentlemen! I guessed you were here to deliver your course selection forms too!"

"Come on, let me see what you all chose?"

Ike and the others handed over the parchments one by one. Flitwick looked at them one by one, saying as he read, "Trillauny's divination class is always the students' favorite course; almost everyone chooses it..."

"Arithmetic divination is also good, and there's also a class on the protection of magical creatures. If you like magical creatures, this class is perfect for you..."

"Oh! Ancient runes! Excellent! Although they are very difficult, they will certainly be of great help to your magical level..."

"Muggle research...hmm...that's pretty good too..."

Professor Flitwick meticulously recorded every course each person chose without a moment's pause.

"Alright, children, I've written it all down. You can go and enjoy your wonderful weekend!" Professor Flitwick adjusted his glasses. "Mr. Stradländer, please wait a moment. I need to confirm something with you."

He shrugged at Stewart and the others, and Ike waved for them to wait outside for a while before staying behind alone.

Once only Ike and Professor Flitwick remained in the office, Professor Flitwick asked, "Mr. Strand, are you sure you want to select all the courses?"

"Yes, Professor, I'm sure," Ike replied firmly.

"You should know that some of these courses conflict with each other..."

Ike nodded and replied, "I heard it from Roger."

"Okay, I understand." Professor Flitwick smiled and wrote down Ike's course selection results.

"Now you can go find your friends!"
