Chapter 47 Little Elf Battle

Chapter 47 Little Elf Battle

A new professor, a new Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.

Compared to last year, the classroom is much cleaner and smells better this year. There are also many more portraits of Lockhart on the walls, constantly releasing their charm to the little witches in the classroom.

Lockhart, dressed in magnificent robes with his golden hair gleaming, picked up one of his books and showed it a picture of himself, in which he winked.

“Me.” Lockhart pointed to his photo and winked. “Giddro Lockhart, a third-class Sergeant of the Order of Merlin, an honorary member of the Defense Against the Dark Arts, and a five-time winner of the Wizarding Weekly’s Most Charming Smile Award—but I don’t wear that on my sleeve. I don’t exorcise the ghost of Warren with a smile!”

Lockhart flashed his standard eight-tooth smile, and Ike swore he saw Lockhart's teeth gleam like they did in an old cartoon.

This is unbelievable!

As Lockhart smiled and displayed his charm, Ike stood up with his hands raised.

"Professor Lockhart, I have a question and hope to get your answer."

"Oh...of course, I'd be happy to answer the young wizard's questions." Lockhart maintained his perfect smile. "And this one..."

"Ike Strade, Professor Lockhart."

"Mr. Streid, what's your problem?"

"Professor Lockhart, could you tell me what spell you used to exorcise the ghost of Wanlun? Was it a spell you invented? Could you teach us that spell?"

Ike looked on expectantly, but Lockhart's smile froze. With a forced laugh, Lockhart put down the book he had been holding and waved for Ike to sit down.

"Heh... Mr. Strayed, that's a very profound and difficult spell. It's very hard to learn..."

"Of course! If there's a chance in the future, I'll tell you all about that spell, as long as you meet my requirements..." Lockhart winked again, waving his wand and handing out a stack of papers. "As for now... I see you've all bought my complete works, so I think I should give you a little test..."

"Thirty minutes, starting now!"

Looking at the questions on the test paper, the little witches gasped softly, while the little wizards were generally dumbfounded. Except for Ike, the others basically guessed the answers.

Thirty minutes later, Lockhart collected the papers on time and began to read them in front of the whole class.

"It seems you haven't been reading my work carefully; many of you even got my birthday wrong..." Lockhart's words carried a hint of disappointment. "Almost no one remembers that my favorite color is lilac, which really saddens me..."

"However, Mr. Strayed, I've heard you're excellent, but this exam paper is quite disappointing." Lockhart waved Ike's paper around. "My secret ambition isn't just to sell my own line of hair care products; it's to eliminate all evil from the world!"

"Alright, let's get down to business. As your Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, my task is to teach you how to defend against the most evil things known in the magical world!" Lockhart pulled a cage covered with a black cloth from behind the podium, patted it, and a noisy scream came from inside. "Inside are the terrifying creatures you are about to face, but don't worry, with me here, you will be safe!"

"Please don't scream, it will anger them..."

As he spoke, Lockhart abruptly pulled back the black cloth.

"Ladies and gentlemen! Cornish elves!"

Terry chuckled at the opportune moment, raised his hand, and said, "Professor Lockhart, Cornish elves aren't anything terrifying. In fact, I could easily handle one before I even enrolled."

"Really? This person..."

"Terry Booth".

"Mr. Boot, don't be so sure. They're a bunch of cunning little devils!" Lockhart took a step back, then flung open the cage door. "Let's see how you deal with them!"

Cornish elves are very mischievous and playful creatures with dark blue skin. Although they have no wings, they can fly. These little things are very strong and enjoy doing anything that frightens, terrifies, or disgusts people. They cannot be tamed and will not obey anyone's commands; if you are not careful, you can even be kidnapped by them. They are best known for kidnapping a witch who was vacationing in Cornwall in the 17th century. Although this witch, named Dephine Vermagee, was not physically harmed, she was left with a lifelong, indelible psychological trauma, fearing these insignificant creatures for the rest of her life.

The little elves that escaped from their cages completely let loose, chattering in a language only they could understand, and attacking everyone in the classroom with madness.

Lockhart, being the closest, was the first to be targeted and received special treatment from the elves. One grabbed a book from the podium and slammed it at Lockhart, another yanked down on his pants, and two more went around to his back, grabbed his cloak, and tried to lift him up.

Lockhart let out a scream and then frantically waved his arms to chase away the troublemakers. But it was clear that these little guys were exceptionally agile, and Lockhart struggled for a long time without hitting a single one.

"Peschipexie Pestnomi!" Lockhart drew his wand and shouted at the sprites flying around, but his spell had no effect. Instead, a clever sprite grabbed his wand and he had to use a lot of effort to shake the little devil off.

"Catch...catch them! They're just a bunch of elves..." Lockhart roared, but no one answered him. The escaped elves turned the classroom into a playground, wreaking havoc. They grabbed ink bottles and splashed ink everywhere, tore books to shreds, ripped off portraits and curtains from the walls, and even grabbed the little witch's hair and yanked it hard before throwing it back in.

The screams of the elves, the cries and curses of the young wizards, and Lockhart's roars turned the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom into complete chaos in just a few minutes.

"Catch them! Catch them!" Lockhart waved his wand and cloak, getting chased and scrambled by the elves. He ran to the door, bent over, and frantically waved his wand, chanting several spells, but none worked. He shouted "Catch them!" again, and Lockhart fled the classroom, slamming the door shut behind him. Several elves tugged at the doorknob, but couldn't open it.

"Is he really a professor?!" Stuart slammed a book into a sprite, sending it flying, and stared at Lockhart, who was running away alone, his face full of disbelief.

Turning to look at Ike's spot, I saw him sitting there calmly, leisurely flipping through the book "Breaking Up with the Ghost." The little elf flew towards him and crashed into him like it had hit a wall, tumbling over several times.

"Help me, Ike!" Terry shouted, repelling the sprite that had attacked while Stuart was distracted.

Ike waved his hand, sending a book flying that smashed a sprite that was trying to pluck Morag's hair away. He said, "Use the Freeze Charm!"

"Freeze them all!" Terry reacted quickly, shouting a spell at the sprites flying around. A flash of blue light appeared, and several sprites were frozen in mid-air. The others reacted immediately, casting Freeze spells. Ike wasn't idle either, using a Level 6 Levitation spell to control the books and smash down the attacking sprites.

In the blink of an eye, all the sprites in the classroom, except for the one stunned by Ike, were frozen in place. Michael, holding a copy of "Traveling with Ghouls," smashed it several times, tearing off a large bald patch from the sprite's head.

"Madam Pomfrey has hair regrowth potion, it works really well." Stewart suppressed a laugh and stopped Michael from continuing to whip the corpse.

"Let's put these guys back in their cages. The freezing spell won't keep them under control for long." Ike took out his wand and controlled about a dozen sprites to fly back to their cages.

"He actually ran away!" Morty's voice was trembling with tears, as he also had his hair pulled, feeling his idol shattered.

"Perhaps we should go find Professor Flitwick and take these little guys with us." After locking all the Pokémon up, Ike knocked on the cage and suggested, "I'm sure our headmaster will get justice for us."

"That's right! Let's go find Professor Flitwick! I want revenge for my hair!" Michael covered his head with a book and immediately responded, running over to snatch the cage from Ike's hand and running straight out of the classroom. The other young wizards followed closely behind, and in the blink of an eye, only Stuart and Ike were left in the classroom.

"Do you still believe Lockhart is reliable?" Stuart asked.

Ike packed up his books, hugged them to his chest, and smiled at Stuart, "He's unreliable, but I'm curious about something else now."

"What? Is it going to be some troublesome thing again?" Stuart asked hurriedly, clearly still shaken.

"It's obvious our new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor isn't very good," Ike shrugged. "Then how did he manage to do all those things in the books?"

"I'm really curious..."
