Chapter 260 Different Art Styles
Chapter 260 Different Art Styles
Between the two magic circles, golden threads rained down on the "angel's" wings, making a constant crackling sound, but without much effect, only causing the light on the wings to sway for a while.
This allowed Ike to see the true face of the "angel." Perhaps it was because it lacked something that it proclaimed it; this thing had nothing to do with holiness at all. The twelve pairs of wings behind it were actually hideous fleshy wings, more like bat wings than bird wings.
A strange sense of nausea washed over me, but the "angel's" counterattack was swift. Wielding two weapons, it blocked the golden threads hurtling towards it while rapidly rushing in front of Ike, its weapons slamming into his head in the blink of an eye.
With a slight twitch of his fingers, he adjusted his position again, and the hand holding the wand continued to emit numerous golden threads, maintaining the frequency of his attacks on the "angel."
He was now in a difficult situation, and Ike could only keep using Apparition to change his position, but often, as soon as he appeared, "Angel's" terrifying weapon would come crashing down. He knew very well that this couldn't go on, but he couldn't think of any way to break the deadlock in the current situation.
If the "angel" weren't so fast, Ike would have a few options to try. Unfortunately, none of them would require a considerable amount of preparation time.
The "angel" obviously wouldn't give him that time.
The situation remained deadlocked, with magic power being rapidly depleted, and soon sweat beaded on Ike's forehead. But at the same time, a surge of magic power appeared out of nowhere within his body, continuously replenishing Ike's depletion.
The magic was immense yet gentle; Ike knew perfectly well that it was the power of the olive fruit that he hadn't yet absorbed. It was fortunate that it was so, otherwise, even though his magic was now comparable to Dumbledore's and Voldemort's, he wouldn't have enough to squander. Both the magic circles and the countless golden threads required a massive amount of magic to support them, not to mention he was maintaining a high frequency of Apparitions.
Time passed slowly, and the situation remained unchanged. However, Ike was more at ease. He had become accustomed to this rhythm of battle, and his reaction speed had even improved.
After all, if he was too slow, the "angel's" terrifying weapon could have chopped off his head.
However, this way, Ike can also try those methods that he couldn't use before due to time constraints. Since there's no immediate danger to his life and he can hold out, he can set things up little by little.
Amidst the countless golden threads, a touch of red appeared. Emerging from the wand, it fell directly into the magic circles above and below, almost simultaneously adding numerous lines that formed mysterious magical runes. The red runes seemed inlaid on the magic circles, their edges blending perfectly with the golden lines, making the already complex magic circles even more obscure.
While Ike was diligently modifying the magic circle, the "angel" remained focused on beheading Ike with her weapon, unaware that her speed was unknowingly slowing down. Ike, being cunning, cooperated with the "angel" by reducing his own speed. Thus, it seemed no different from before.
Gradually, a hazy red light enveloped the golden magic circle, and the runes suddenly shone brightly, directly suppressing the originally conspicuous golden light. At this moment, the "angel" realized what was happening, and a holy white light shone brightly around her, but it was unable to dispel the red light that had spread to her body.
"I said, no one should move from here!"
Ike shouted, raising his wand high. The "angel" that was rushing forward suddenly fell to the ground. Despite the flapping of its wings, it did not move an inch, and it did not even take a step.
"I say, the people here should be restored to their original state!"
With another shout, the "angel" let out a miserable cry. The holy light around it trembled and was directly torn away by the red light, revealing its ugly true form.
The twelve pairs of fleshy wings were covered with barbs, as if they were dehydrated, clinging tightly to the bones. The "angel's" body was also covered with many hideous scars, densely packed, with almost no good flesh left.
It knelt on the ground, its weapon vanishing silently. Its heavy wings caused its head to tilt back, and in the blink of an eye, it was completely swallowed by the red light.
Ike was serious. With a slight movement of his fingers, a box floated out of his pocket and landed on the ground. The lid opened automatically, revealing a golden necklace. He beckoned, and the necklace froze in mid-air. His left hand stretched out, maintaining the red light, while his right wand gently touched the delicate hourglass pendant on the necklace.
"Ding!"
The tip of the staff and the hourglass met with a crisp echo. The next second, the hourglass shattered, and the sand inside floated lightly in the air, shimmering with a soft golden light.
Ike's expression was solemn. He gently waved his wand, and the sand danced in the air like ribbons. He stretched it forward, and the golden ribbons slowly flew towards the "angel," then dispersed upon reaching her, gently landing on her.
"what!"
An even more pitiful scream came, and Ike waved his hand to remove the red light that enveloped the "angel". He watched helplessly as the wings behind it withered, the pale bones bursting through the fleshy wings, and a lot of purple liquid that looked like blood came out.
"Bang!"
Twelve pairs of wings peeled off its back and fell to the ground. The "angel's" body suddenly fell forward, collapsing face down on the ground. The pain that went straight to its soul silenced it, and it could no longer even scream.
One by one, rotting organs gushed out from the enormous wound on his back, instantly filling the air with a pungent stench. Ike unconsciously frowned, using magic to shield his sense of smell with a flick of his finger; it was simply too overwhelming.
The "angel's" body began to twitch unconsciously, and a pile of dark things lay scattered around it. Only a liver and lungs could be vaguely discerned, but the rest were unrecognizable.
The once holy light vanished completely, replaced by an aura of decay. Strands of its beard and hair fell to the ground, turning to ash upon impact. It was now motionless, but the purple blood beneath it had spread, forming a large pool.
Walking slowly to her side, I raised my hand, and the "angel" gently turned over.
It was no longer recognizable as human. The flesh turned pitch black and then fell off the equally pitch-black bones. In no time, only a tattered skeleton remained. However, the twelve pairs of wings, which were also reduced to bones, remained pure white, with faint flashes of holy white light on them, like ripples on water.
Ike sighed, flicked his wand downwards, and a wisp of flame fell, then suddenly expanded, even turning black. He stood silently in place for a long time, waiting for the filthy, ugly, and rotten flesh to be completely burned away by the flames, leaving only the twelve pairs of pure white bone wings intact.
With a wave of his hand, he removed the magic circle that still covered the church, leaving the murals on the walls and ceiling intact. Looking at the cross, he noticed it had somehow floated up with its base, revealing a hole in it.
It was pitch black, as if it could devour light, and you could only vaguely see the top step.
It was surprisingly white.
