Chapter 237 The Beginning of Chaos

Chapter 237 The Beginning of Chaos (Part Two)

"To the Muggle Prime Minister, requesting a meeting. The matter is urgent, please reply immediately."

Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour.

The ugly little man in the portrait suddenly spoke, interrupting Fudge and the Prime Minister's conversation.

"Yes, yes," the comrade nodded repeatedly in agreement. Then, green flames reappeared in the fireplace, revealing a tall, thin man with brown hair and thick eyebrows streaked with gray. Behind his gold-rimmed glasses were a pair of sharp eyes. He stood there like a fierce lion.

Although it is very old, it should not be underestimated.

Seeing Scrimgeour, the Prime Minister suddenly understood why the wizarding world had appointed such a man as minister. In the current complex and dangerous situation, only someone like him could lead them to victory.

"Hello." The Prime Minister stood up and extended his hand to Scrimgeour. Scrimgeour shook hands with the Prime Minister very formally, then drew his wand, walked to the door, and knocked on the lock. He then tapped the window, and the curtains were immediately drawn shut.

"If possible..." the Prime Minister said, "I don't want to lock the door."

"Trust me, it's better to lock it up. It can prevent danger and also provide surveillance." Scrimgeour checked it again before sitting down in a chair and saying, "Fudge should have told you about the current situation, right? The first thing I'm here for is to solve your safety problem."

"Security?" The Prime Minister frowned. "I'm very satisfied with the existing security measures; there's no need for..."

"No, you need to." Scrimgeour interrupted the Prime Minister directly. "Those villains are capable of anything. If you are controlled by someone using a Soul-Stealing Curse, it will be very troublesome."

"Moreover, it's tradition. You, Queen, the most important person in this country, are surrounded by our protection. This is true all the time, let alone now," Scrimgeour said. "Take your secretary, Kingsley Shackle, for example. Do you think he's just a secretary? In fact, he's a wizard, specifically there to protect you."

The Prime Minister was about to say something, but Scrimgeour did not give him the chance.

"And Herbert Joly, your assistant, the one who made a duck-like quack at the press conference and amused the public?"

"Jolai? He just imitated a duck's quack, he might need some rest..." the Prime Minister said somewhat awkwardly.

“I have to tell you, that’s because of the reaction to a bad Possession Curse. In fact, right as we’re talking, a medical team is treating him at St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Injuries.” Scrimgeour’s eyes sharpened. “And as far as I know, he’s already attacked at least three people, trying to strangle them.”

"Well... alright, let's leave it at that for safety." The Prime Minister gave up on arguing and resisting. From what he had just heard, it was indeed impossible to survive without the protection of these wizards.

Seeing that the Prime Minister had yielded, Scrimgeour nodded in satisfaction. He took a thick stack of papers from his pocket, spread them out, and placed them on the Prime Minister's desk.

"What is this?" The Prime Minister picked up the paper and found that it was full of photos of people, along with some basic information.

"Now that we have information about the Death Eaters, I need you to issue warrants for their arrest as well," Scrimgeour said. "Although you have no chance of catching them on your own, it will at least make a difference and make our work easier."

"The arrest warrant, is it? I know." The Prime Minister placed the papers aside. Scrimgeour nodded, glanced at his watch, and stood up.

"Alright, that's enough for now." Scrimgeour extended his hand to the Prime Minister. "I'm still very busy, with a lot on my plate, and I might not have time to keep you updated on the progress. But rest assured, Fudge has agreed to stay at the Ministry of Magic as an advisor, and he'll come over when I can't come in person."

With that, Fudge stood up and walked with Scrimgeour to the fireplace. He pulled out some Floo Powder from his pocket, sprinkled it in, and green flames immediately ignited.

Without speaking to the Prime Minister again, he crossed the fence and disappeared.

The Prime Minister stared blankly as the flames in the fireplace disappeared, and he didn't even know when the curtains and door had been opened. Somewhat absentmindedly, he took a bottle of whiskey and a glass from the cabinet beside his feet, poured some, and drank it down without even adding ice.

It took him a while to suppress the intense, dry feeling, but his complex emotions finally calmed down. He straightened his tie, picked up the phone, dialed a few numbers, and said directly after the call connected, "Have Shakel come over."

A moment later, Kingsley Shaker knocked on the door: "Prime Minister, you wanted to see me."

The Prime Minister pointed to the chair Fudge had just been sitting in, and after Shakel sat down, he said directly, "Tell me, just how dangerous is it over there...?"

"I'm sorry, Prime Minister, I don't understand..." Shakel looked puzzled, but the Prime Minister said directly, "Alright, no need to hide it. Your minister and former minister were sitting right here."

"So... tell me about it..."

The Prime Minister listened calmly as Shakir recounted the events of the turmoil, occasionally raising questions and offering answers only after Shakir had considered them.

They went on like this for a long time, asking and answering questions, before Shakel was finally allowed to leave.

He poured himself another glass of whiskey, this time taking a small sip. By now, he had a pretty good grasp of the situation. As Prime Minister, he needed to know as much as possible about the impending war, and relying solely on the messages from that seemingly unreliable former minister was insufficient.

"Perhaps I should go see the Queen tomorrow," the Prime Minister thought, glancing at the time. He then downed his drink in one gulp and prepared to rest.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed Minister of Magic, Scrimgeour, had no time to rest. As the former Chief of Staff of the Oorro Office and now the Minister of Magic, he was indeed very busy.

Voldemort's resurgence was both an opportunity and a severe challenge for him. Having dealt with Death Eaters and dark wizards for so many years, he knew all too well how dangerous they were. Moreover, the Ministry of Magic was now facing not only those individuals.

Giants, werewolves, vampires, and Dementors—as news of the Dark Lord's return spread throughout the wizarding world, these dark creatures almost simultaneously returned to Voldemort's command. The chaos in Britain during this period was largely caused by these guys, while the Death Eaters and dark wizards vanished without a trace.

Scrimgeour dispatched a large number of men, tasked with dealing with the chaos caused by the dark creatures while simultaneously searching for the Dark Lord's whereabouts—the latter being undoubtedly the most important. But those creatures seemed to have vanished; his men had practically turned Britain upside down, yet they found not a single clue.

This feeling of impending doom was very unsettling, giving Scrimgeour no chance to catch his breath.

"Do I really have to do this?" He sat in the minister's office chair, holding a piece of parchment in his hand, staring blankly at it. The quill pen was right next to him, but he couldn't bring himself to sign his name.

That was a search warrant for Malfoy Manor.
