Chapter 952 Red Worm
Chapter 952 Red Worm
After Thor left the tower where Corey was, he immediately said to Little Algae, "Have you noticed...?"
Thor wanted to ask Xiaozhao if she had discovered anything, but before he could ask, he saw Wizard Ole walk out of the main building in the middle of the castle.
The other person recognized Thor, but made no move to greet him, turning and walking into the tower on the other side.
Thor stared intently at Ole's retreating figure and said to Little Algae, "Little Algae, did you see that?"
Xiao Zao nodded, her face equally serious.
"I remember Wizard Oller didn't have a head, and there used to be a plant on his neck, right?"
Xiao Zao continued to nod seriously.
"I remember he didn't originally have a red worm-like head, did he?"
Xiao Zao shook her head seriously.
"Let's go find Corey and talk to him again." Thor turned around and went back to the tower he had just come out of.
The wizard Ole's head transformed into a giant red worm, thicker than his neck. After emerging from the base of his neck, the worm swelled up, becoming even more like a human head.
Thor quickly climbed the tower and knocked on Corey's door.
But this time, after a few seconds no one answered and no one opened the door.
Thor placed one hand on the doorknob, used magic to roughly open the door, and rushed inside.
"Curry, I think we need to have a serious talk—"
His voice stopped abruptly because Corey was nowhere to be seen in the room.
Thor's mental energy swept through the entire room like a storm, then through the entire tower, and finally expanded to the entire castle.
He could even sense the other people in the castle, including the wizard with the insect-headed head of Ole, but he still couldn't find any trace of the wizard Corey.
Corey has gone missing.
"We just went downstairs a minute ago. In that short time, where could she have gone?"
Saul looked around the room. "Thinking back now, her behavior was already a bit off before we left. She seemed to want to say something, but didn't have a chance to."
A silver butterfly emerged from between Thor's eyebrows and quickly circled the room.
"Without Corey's dreams, she disappeared completely."
"I didn't sense anything unusual. How could a second-tier wizard suddenly disappear? Could it be because of me?"
Beth: [Thor, there are only two possibilities for making the wizard Corey disappear without alerting you: either she did it willingly, or...]
"The other one is the person who made Wizard Corey disappear; he's even more mentally powerful than me." Thor already knew what Beth was going to say. "It's not that I'm arrogant, but in the wizarding world, there are only two or three people with more mental power than me."
Ah, you're right.
Upon returning from the Wailing Wall, Thor's mental strength surged once again.
Beth couldn't understand it at all. Was Thor's method of advancing to the fourth tier a little too powerful?
Each time Thor establishes a connection with a target, his mental strength increases, and after completing four targets, the increase is simply astonishing.
Beth even suspected that Thor might have some other means of enhancing his mental strength.
Since Corey couldn't be found for the time being, Saul began to search the entire room to see if he could find any clues left behind by Corey.
After looking around, Saul found nothing except the usual items and some documents related to the city and border defenses. He then began searching for mechanisms in the house.
Sometimes, mechanisms that are purely physical and devoid of magic may actually have blind spots, thus escaping the wizard's notice.
This time, however, Thor finally made another discovery.
Instead of discovering a secret passage, they found some ashes in the fireplace. These ashes all had white edges remaining. Saul ran his fingers through them, confirming that they were the same type as the papers on Corey's table.
The fireplace in the tower was quite large, but as a tool used by wizards, it wasn't used for burning wood or coal for heating. Instead, a fire magic circle was placed at the bottom. Therefore, the entire fireplace contained only ashes of paper.
A thick layer; I wonder how many sheets of paper Corey burned here.
"Penny, can you try to see the past of these papers?"
"I can! Brother Thor, as long as no one deliberately erases it or covers it with mental power..." Penny's voice grew softer and softer.
Compared to those nightmare butterflies that have existed for decades or even centuries, she really is just a child.
Thor smiled nonchalantly. "It's okay, just give it your best."
Penny flapped her wings and landed on the small hilltop atop the ashes. Then, she suddenly shook her silver, hollowed-out wings, and the edge of that pile of ashes rose into the air.
When they fell again, the gray debris turned into white flakes.
These white scraps of paper drifted down and somehow managed to piece together a complete sheet of paper.
There were several lines of text on the paper, twisting and turning like tiny insects, splitting and overlapping. Finally, they slowly stabilized.
Thor looked down, his face gradually becoming serious.
"Corey discovered that Wizard Ole was suspicious several years ago, but her reports were never sent out. Were they all eventually burned? Who did it?"
Wizard Ole doesn't specialize in light or dark attributes and isn't skilled in mind control. Especially since the person he's trying to control is Corey, a second-tier wizard.
After Penny restored the letter, she did not stop casting the spell. The letter slowly flew out of the flames and hovered in mid-air.
It was as if someone was standing there holding a letter.
Two pale fingers slowly appeared at the edge of the paper, which then evolved into a complete palm, and finally expanded until the whole person appeared out of thin air.
It's... Corey!
"So, the person who wrote the letter was Corey, and the person who burned the letter was also Corey?"
"It's not over yet, Brother Thor. I can sense that there's something very important left..."
Penny's voice was strained, following Thor. She hadn't used her full strength in a long time, lying flat in her diary!
Thor continued to stare at Corey and noticed a sudden splash of red on the top of her head.
This touch of red, like Corey's newly appeared finger, slowly transformed from a small dot into a complete body.
It is a red worm.
Unlike Wizard Ole, Corey's body and head weren't replaced by worms. The red worms simply lay quietly on Corey's head, like her pets.
"When I saw Corey just now, there was definitely no red worm on her head. It doesn't make sense that I could see the monster on Ole but not on Corey. I've been in contact with Corey for much longer."
"Brother Thor, this is the most complete past I can see," Penny whispered.
"Well done," Thor praised generously.
The scene before his eyes gradually disappeared, leaving only the ashes in the fireplace as proof of Corey's past struggles.
"It's alright, even if Corey is gone, there are still other people here, aren't there?" Thor temporarily put aside his search for Corey and shifted his focus. "Wizard Ole is in the tower across the street, let's go say hello."
