Chapter 951 The Strange Wizard Corey
Chapter 951 The Strange Wizard Corey
Thor told his mentor, Gorsa, to stay in the Chaotic Realm and rest until he was fully recovered before returning to the wizarding world, where the concentration of magic and pollution was much higher.
I originally thought it would be a difficult task to persuade Gorza to stay for a few months or a year, but to my surprise, he agreed very readily.
After leaving the chaotic region, Thor planned to go find Byron first.
Byron last sent a message to the No Man's Land a year ago.
Although the communication frequency was low, it was still quite frequent for a wizard who often spent months on an experiment.
When Byron wrote last time, he said he was visiting Corey and taking the opportunity to learn about the recent situation at the Stargate Council. He would inform Thor if there were any new discoveries.
But Byron never wrote again, and it's unclear whether he didn't make any new discoveries or if something else delayed him.
With his mentor's matter settled, Saul decided to go to the northwest corner of Iskapper to ask Corey for advice.
Corey's boss, Oller, is a wood-elemental wizard who harbored a deep prejudice against Thor from their last meeting. But now Thor no longer needs to pay attention to this clown.
After traveling for two days, I arrived in the bay city where Corey lived. Before I even got close, I saw people coming to greet me.
Thor deliberately did not conceal his magic, which naturally led to his discovery by the guarding wizards.
"I'm looking for Wizard Corey. Is she still here?"
The two wizards who came to greet him were only first-tier formal wizards, and they saw that Thor had almost fallen from the sky.
One of the wizards seemed to recognize Thor and calmed down slightly. "Are you Lord Thor of the No Man's Lands?"
After receiving an affirmative answer, the visitor quickly pointed Thor in the right direction, "I'll take you to see Lord Corey. Lord Corey has been conducting experiments for the past two years and hardly ever leaves his house."
Thor nodded and let the other person lead the way.
Curry's lab is nestled in the woods next to the bay city, offering panoramic views of the city while remaining secluded from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It's a peaceful oasis amidst the city's chaos.
But as Thor prepared to land, he suddenly sensed something amiss. This caused him to abruptly stop his descent.
The little algae emerged from the back of Thor's neck and stuck out its tongue at the castle standing in the deep forest in front of it.
"You noticed something amiss too?" Thor glanced at the unusually perceptive algae. "The pollution level isn't too high, and the magic seems stable. Could it be that someone's mental energy is malfunctioning?"
The wizard leading the way noticed that Thor was not moving. He was puzzled but dared not say anything. He just stood there on the ground, looking up at Thor in mid-air.
"That strange feeling seems to have disappeared again."
Xiao Zao nodded vigorously beside her.
"Xiaozao, you go back first. If you find anything else, rush over immediately. I'll check if we found the same object."
Little Algae obediently returned to the back of Thor's neck.
Thor continued descending without explaining anything to the wizard, who naturally dared not ask further. Seeing Thor finally land, the wizard quickly said, "Lord Corey works in the tower on the west side of the castle. Lord Ole mostly stays in the main castle building at the back."
"I will not see Ole." Thor waved his hand and walked straight into the castle gate.
The two first-tier wizards dared not follow them in; the territory of a third-tier wizard was extremely dangerous for them, and it was already quite courageous of them to escort them to the door.
"Shouldn't we inform them first?" one of the wizards asked.
"Do you think it's faster for us to report, or for Wizard Thor to find Lord Corey?" another person retorted dismissively.
That left the other party speechless.
"This is a third-tier wizard? He's really impressive. His aura is even more terrifying than the stern wizard Ole. I don't even dare to look him in the eye."
"Are you out of your mind? Stop talking nonsense and get back to patrol. Wizard Corey has been reminding us to patrol diligently and report anything unusual immediately."
"Wizard Corey has always seemed very nervous these past two years, even though nothing unusual has happened in the city recently."
"Just listen to me, why are you making such a fuss?"
The two first-tier wizards walked further and further away, unaware that Thor had overheard their entire conversation.
"Did Corey discover something unusual like I did? But judging from her current state, it seems she hasn't found the source of the anomaly yet."
The castle was deserted, suggesting that other wizards were not allowed to enter; it was merely the private domain of two high-ranking wizards.
Following the guide wizard's directions, Thor quickly found the West Tower where Corey was located.
"Knock knock knock".
"Who is it?" Corey was sitting at her desk, engrossed in writing a letter, when the sudden knocking made her very nervous.
"Excuse my intrusion, I am Saul."
Corey's face lit up with immense joy. She jumped up, quickly circled the desk, and ran towards the door.
She seemed to have forgotten her wizard identity, running hurriedly and unsteadily. A hint of surprise and relief crossed her face, as if Thor's sudden arrival was not at all abrupt, but rather a delightful surprise.
But as Corey approached the gate, the hint of relief on her face suddenly vanished, and her steps gradually slowed down.
By the time she opened the door, her expression had returned to calm.
"It's been a long time, Lord Saul. I regret that I couldn't invite you in last time."
Saul stroked his chin. He thought he'd just heard a sound like a body bumping into the corner of the table, a hurried sound. Quite different from the calm and composed person before him.
However, there were so many people who got nervous when they saw Thor that he didn't think much of it and just assumed it was the stoic wizard Corey's insistence.
At Corey's invitation, Saul entered her study and casually sat on the sofa prepared for guests.
"It's alright, I'm here today, the Stargate Council is right here, they can't run away."
Saul responded to Corey's earlier pleasantries before getting to the point, "My friend Byron should have visited you here a year ago, but I haven't received a letter from him since. I wonder if you know where Byron is now?"
"Byron?" Corey thought for a moment. "Oh, that very beautiful wizard."
"I heard he was your friend, and I was thinking of inviting him to stay here for a while. But after meeting Wizard Ole... he suddenly... took his leave."
Corey's voice suddenly became intermittent, as if his brain had frozen.
Thor immediately stared intently at Corey, but strangely, he didn't notice anything unusual.
It was as if Corey had simply been momentarily distracted.
Curry, who was already beautiful, looked even more like a doll in her courtly tutu.
Corey suddenly looked at Thor, frowned, and moved his pursed lips as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he said nothing.
"Corey, are you alright?"
"It's nothing," Corey shook his head, the daze he had just been spacing out about had disappeared again. "I've probably been too engrossed in my research lately, I often space out."
She gave a very faint smile. "Before leaving, Wizard Byron said he might go to the Stargate Council. I can help you contact him and see if he's there."
"Never mind, it's alright." Thor didn't want Byron to be noticed by the Stargate Council, after all, he had a half-elf inside him. "I just came to see him."
Since Byron wasn't here, Saul didn't intend to stay any longer. "Thank you. Since he's not here, I won't linger any longer."
"Okay, goodbye then."
Corey escorted Thor to the door and then slowly closed it.
The moment the door was completely closed, a look of frustration suddenly appeared on Corey's face.
"We failed to deliver the message again."
