Chapter 897 Ventilation

Chapter 897 Ventilation

Airo immediately glared at her, his probing gaze piercing through Lydia like a knife.

Leah clenched her fists nervously, looking at Elo like a little rabbit.

Elo stared at Leah for a few seconds, then his expression returned to calm. "Let's go inside and talk."

Then the two figures disappeared together in the firelight.

When they reappeared, they were back in the same palace they had just been in.

Airo sat casually on the throne, one hand supporting his chin, looking down at Lia standing below.

"This is my palace. You don't need to speak so haltingly and unclearly."

In Leah's perception, there were only the two of them left in the room.

Although Lia had no way of knowing whether someone was watching from the shadows, she believed that the Black Flame Emperor would be responsible for the secrecy here.

If, under these circumstances, the other party still chooses to convey the information she provided to other members of the tribunal, Nalia will have no choice but to accept it.

So Leah took a deep breath and told everything she knew.

"His Excellency Stuart is located at the deepest part of the Tribunal. You know where that place is, but please forgive me, I cannot say."

Elo wasn't angry about it; Lydia had practically revealed the answer to him.

"The Lost Corridor..." He could say the information that Leah couldn't specify.

Airo already knew that Stuart was trapped in the Lost Corridor.

An indescribable rage burned within him. But this fourth-tier wizard, who was extremely skilled at controlling black flames, was equally adept at controlling his own rage.

Although he was tall, he knew what to do at what time.

So this anger only circled around Ailo's chest once before returning to the unknown depths of his consciousness.

But it did not go out; it only needed a tinderbox to reignite it.

Without changing her posture, Airo asked Leah directly, "Why did you tell me this?"

Leah knew she had succeeded. "So that when the Black Tide comes three years from now, the Tribunal can focus its efforts on resisting it."

"So selfless? But aren't you afraid that telling me about Stuart will cause a rift between me and Frim, leading to the disintegration of the Tribunal and ultimately making it impossible to organize an effective operation against the Black Tide?"

Lia tilted her head back. "I know you won't. You cherish the Black Flame Empire and your people more than anyone else."

Airo moved his hand from his chin to his brow bone, his cold gaze sweeping over him. "So you brought this up yourself just to persuade me to consider the bigger picture and tolerate Frim this time?"

Leah's limbs trembled slightly, as if she had been stripped naked and thrown into the cold sea.

Her teeth chattered, and even her voice was somewhat incoherent. "No, I can't tolerate it. If I tolerate it once, then... then it will happen again. He has come to regard the Tribunal as his private property, even more important than Nefert."

As she spoke, the chill subsided and eventually disappeared, and Leah's voice stopped trembling.

Airo leaned back slightly. "So, what do you want to do?"

He was not provoked to resist by Lya's words. In Aiolo's view, whether it was his compromise with Frim or his argument with Frim that caused an earthquake, it was all ultimately to ensure that the continent of Neflet could survive the erosion of the Black Tide.

He would absolutely not agree if Leah suggested that he break ties with Frim directly and the two sides go to war.

This might lead to Leah being handed over to Frim. This seemingly inhumane move is all for the sake of the Tribunal's stability.

Without the Tribunal, he alone could not protect Black Flame.

However, what Leah said next was not meant to sow discord between the two.

"Your Majesty, we all acknowledge that protecting the continent of Neflet and resisting the Black Tide is Lord Frim's top priority. However, as time goes by, many things have taken over his mind. We only hope that Lord Frim can return to his pure heart and focus on resisting the Black Tide's erosion of Neflet."

"It seems you have quite a bit of influence behind you." Airo chuckled. "Stop with the pleasantries and tell me, what do you want me to do this time, or are you just advising me to do nothing?"

Leah touched her chest, bowed, and said, "I apologize, Your Majesty Elo. I am only here today to convey our principles to you, and I do not intend to use this opportunity to exchange for your promises. We understand that if we find that what we are doing is not in the best interest of Neflet, even if you make a promise today, you will certainly break it in the future. We only hope that when you need to make a decision in the future, you will consider what is best for Neflet, rather than being concerned with personal relationships or conflicts of interest."

"You're done? That's all?" Airo was a little incredulous.

Leah remained bowed, only slightly raising her head. "That's all."

However, no sooner had she finished speaking than she caught a glimpse of a black flame out of the corner of her eye, followed by a violent impact and a fierce explosion.

Amidst the deafening explosion, Leah almost thought she had been reduced to charred remains in the flames. But when she regained consciousness, she found herself lying on the ground in the small garden, her entire body burning with pain that nearly made her faint again.

She was momentarily stunned, never expecting Emperor Elo to do such a thing.

Feeling somewhat annoyed and wronged, she ultimately failed to properly complete the task assigned by Lord Thor.

She struggled to her feet, some skin tissue peeling away as she got up.

It hurt, but Lydia dared not use witchcraft in Emperor Elo's small garden, as that might anger him again.

She limped out, her flesh and blood clinging to her clothes, as if the second form of torture was being inflicted.

To avoid fainting again, she walked while reflecting on what she had done wrong. As Leah finally stepped out of the small garden, two familiar figures rushed over.

These are the two wizards who accompanied Leah. They supported Leah on either side of her, their eyes filled with shock.

When they asked about the other person, Leah told them with difficulty that the person had turned to ashes.

One of the older wizards shook his head and said, "I already told you not to bother His Majesty Airo. You young people are just..."

He didn't say what he was going to say next, but Leah knew that the other party thought that she and the already dead wizard had relied on their status as Tribunal wizards to communicate with Airo, and that they had acted carelessly, so they deserved to be punished like this.

Listening to the wizard's chanting, Leah suddenly understood why Emperor Elo attacked her in the end!

The wizard who entered the garden earlier was instigated by Leah to offend Emperor Airo. Leah, on the other hand, wanted to use the opportunity of apologizing to speak with Airo.

However, doing so still seemed abrupt. If Leah returned unharmed, people might suspect that she had said something to Elo that prevented Elo from disciplining her.

Now, Elo's final blow nearly roasted her to a crisp, so any possible interaction between the two turned into her being directly punished for offending a fourth-tier wizard, almost dying.

Soon, the three of them left Emperor Elo's palace. One wizard was still babbling on, seemingly afraid of incurring the emperor's wrath, while the other wizard immediately began to treat Leah's burns.

Faced with the dizzying accusations, Leah could only manage a wry smile. "I understand, I really understand."
