Chapter 89 Deep Within the Library

Chapter 89 Deep Within the Library

"I want to borrow a book."

"When you borrow a book, you go in and look at the table of contents and the description. What are you looking at me for? You think I'm some kind of ghost?"

Well, this young man's temper is quite similar to that of the old man who guards the library.

"I'm looking for some books about fragments of the soul, but I don't know where to look."

"Then go in and look for it on the bookshelves, one by one." The young man smirked, his expression enigmatic.

"But books about the soul are all located at the back, and I'm afraid I'll get lost in them."

"If you're afraid, then don't go looking for it." The young man crossed his arms and looked down at Thor. "What are you, a first-level apprentice, researching about souls!"

Thor, of course, would not give up easily.

Seeing that the young man had no intention of speaking, Saul walked to the side of the library.

"Since you don't know, I'll wait here for the administrator. He should know more about it."

The young man curled his lip. "Idiot, can't you tell? I'm the administrator."

Thor's lips twitched. This young man had a really bad temper, but he held back. "You're an administrator too. I just wanted to ask about that middle-aged administrator; he seems to have more experience."

The young man was displeased upon hearing this, and with a wave of his arms, he instantly moved to Thor's front.

His face was ashen, his lips were purple, and his eyes were bulging out of their sockets.

Thor was horrified and immediately took a half step back, raising his hands in front of his chest, looking at the young man with suspicion and uncertainty.

"Nonsense! I know everything he knows! What good is experience if that coward is afraid of everything?"

The more the young man talked, the more frightening his appearance became.

Thor swallowed hard, trying to stay calm. "But, you know..."

"I don't know anything! It's just a fragment of a soul!" The young man opened his mouth wide, his mouth filled with blood, his teeth and tongue invisible.

Saul then noticed that the other person's voice was not coming from their mouth.

But he couldn't pinpoint exactly where it was.

"Soul fragments, soul-related items, and spirit-related items are all on the bookshelf in the fourth column, fourteenth row!"

"Do you like evil spirits? Look downwards! Do you like vengeful spirits? Look upwards! Do you like to manipulate souls? Look behind you!"

The young man raised his chin and said, "If this library has it, there's nothing I don't know."

"Amazing!" Thor gave a thumbs up and turned to walk towards the back of the library.

Layer upon layer of bookshelves stood amidst a vast expanse of white mist.

After taking a couple of steps, the gate behind us disappeared from sight.

To figure out which row he was in, Saul counted as he walked.

"One, two... thirteen, fourteen! This is it." Thor continued walking to the right until he stopped at the fourth column.

He turned his head to the left, and rows of books, some thin, some thick, some new, some old, appeared before him.

Unlike the books in the previous rows, the books here are arranged somewhat haphazardly, clearly lacking any organization or tidying.

There probably aren't many people who come here to borrow books.

"Evil spirits are below, vengeful spirits are above, are there no ordinary souls?"

Thor first looked at the middle shelf of the bookshelf. Most of the books with names on their spines were in Noah's Ark or other unknown languages, with only a few in the Common Language.

Books written in the Common Language were all labeled as storybooks. Books written in Noah's Ark were mostly definitions, observation notes, and the like.

Thor searched intently for his target, scanning the middle row, then lowering his head slightly to look down at the next row...

"I%#&*%%*……"

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw something under my feet!

The bottom row of bookshelves doesn't seem to contain books!

There's a person lying there!

Half an arm and a corner of a shoe were sticking out of the partition.

Thor hadn't been so frightened that his limbs went weak in a long time.

He felt like his clothes were being stretched open by his body hair!

"Don't think! Don't look!" he silently warned himself, speeding up his scan of the middle shelves, making sure his head didn't shift even slightly.

At the same time, he kept silently reciting the incantation to strike the undead, ensuring that he could fire immediately should anything go wrong.

He stiffly moved his legs, which were trembling with fear, and slowly walked to the edge of the bookshelf.

The "person" lying at the bottom of the bookshelf remained completely still.

Saul went behind the bookshelves and glanced around. At least there were books there.

But Thor didn't dare to delay any longer. The thought that there might be something behind the book made him even afraid to squat down, lest he make eye contact with something.

Fortunately, in the area where souls are trained, he finally found a book that seemed to preserve soul fragments.

Saul pulled out the book, flipped through the first few pages, and immediately decided to borrow it.

He hurriedly walked outside.

Halfway there, Thor suddenly turned around and walked in the opposite direction.

After walking for about several dozen meters, he finally emerged from the white mist and saw the entrance to the library, and one or two first-level apprentices wandering around the front bookshelves.

"call……"

Thor's face was deathly pale. As soon as he stepped out of the white mist area, he couldn't help but reach out and hold onto the first row of bookshelves to steady himself.

Just now, when he left the fourteenth row of bookshelves, for some reason, he felt that walking further in was the way out.

If he hadn't walked a few steps and noticed that the bookshelves on both sides were becoming increasingly messy, he wouldn't have realized that the exit he had identified was in the wrong direction!

Without giving it much thought or observation, he simply turned around and headed back.

The fact that the diary did not appear to warn him meant that he was not in immediate danger.

But if we go deeper into the library, it's uncertain whether our lives will be in danger!

Thor, clearly terrified and exhausted, attracted the attention of several apprentices at the door.

Upon seeing that it was Thor, they exchanged a glance and then walked over together.

"Thor...are you alright?" one of them asked with a hint of concern.

"It's alright, thank you." Thor looked at the two somewhat familiar faces opposite him, and after a moment said, "The tenth floor of the library is very dangerous; I don't recommend going in unless you're at least level two."

"Huh?" The two people opposite didn't expect that their concern would be met with a reminder.

They turned to look into the depths of the white mist, fear flashing in their eyes.

Meanwhile, Saul had already taken the opportunity to bypass the two and walk to the library door.

The arrogant young man was gone, replaced by a middle-aged man who was always in fear, huddled on the bench with his head buried between his knees.

After becoming an apprentice, Saul borrowed the book several times and naturally understood the process.

He walked to within two meters of the middle-aged man and said softly, "Hello, I'd like to borrow this book."

The middle-aged man, who had been trembling, slowly raised his head, revealing an extremely pale face.

"Fifty magic crystals plus two credits, borrow for ten days."

So expensive? And it requires credits?

Looking at the book he had risked his life to retrieve, Saul tentatively asked, "Can I borrow it for five days?"

The middle-aged man shook his head very slowly, bit by bit.

They even stipulated a minimum borrowing period!

Thor gritted his teeth and took the money!

After completing the formalities, Saul carefully put the book into his backpack, then hugged the backpack directly to his chest.

The middle-aged man looked around fearfully, then shrank his head back between his knees.

Saul glanced into the library again; a white mist obscured everything, and the two new apprentices were still lingering in front of the first shelf.

He turned to leave the library.

But after taking only two steps, Thor had to stop again.

Two people were standing at the entrance to the library.

Luo Kai stood with his hands in his pockets, a smile on his face, curiously sizing up Thor.

The other person, Duoze, followed behind Luo Kai with a blank expression and his head slightly lowered.
